It's nice how these pictures were made. Like how people have said there is light in darkness, and vice versa, there's another way to look at it: Hanyuu and Rika stand back to back, witnessing the things that they normally see. But if they were to turn around, they would "look through each other's eyes". The artist was very clever in making these pics.
Staring down at the fate That befell the ones you love Tears and sadness Will not help If you cry Your shrieks join The wailing cicadas On the fateful night When the cicadas cry.
Higurashi.. an anime that will always have a place in my heart. I will never forget it. There's something special to it. You can almost smell the atmosphere when the ost starts to play
I'm definitely going to rewatch higurashi I connected with Rena (most relatable for me) I listen to naraku no hana frequently yet I haven't thought of rewatching this until now (yes I know naraku no hana was kai)
OH SNAP. This is the music played during episode 13, season 2, when Takano is driving Rika to her death, and all of Rika's friends are there holding her hand. ;-;
this reminds me of takano sitting in the pouring rain with red-pointed-eyed hanyuu right before her. "I just want to say .. Living is good.. I want to live .." :(
Higurashi is such a tragic series. It makes me sad when I see people only watch the first season or just write it off as another "edgy horror" or "we don't talk about that" anime.
Personally, Season 1 was my favorite for how dark it was. Second favorite was the Canon arc in Rei. I liked how it humbled Rika to an extent. I understand why Season 2 happened, but let's just say something dark out of nowhere turning into something with a simple and positive message was a bit boring. Though after watching the Rei, I started not to feel too bad and appreciate season 2 a bit more.
There is a counterpart of this picture. Yokan. Hanyuu's side is she sees all the dead people and she couldn't do even anything. Just watching and apologizing ( you know.. footsteps and gomennasai. gomennasai.) Rika's side is when the wind blows her face, giving an expression of bad things coming (or so).
@JW514 the pictures aren't "official accompanying ones" it's just how seranastarflower decided to choose illustrations. But seranastarflower illustrations are exactly that, so you're right.
to me... this song symbolizes how you feel after losing a loved one... the shock is gone... and all that is left is overwhelming grief. * SPOILERS* Maybe how the others felt when Rika was hit by the truck in rei?
@rikafurudesan As a young girl, I had no parents and was abandoned outside. I have horns on my head, and when I lived at the orphanage, several boys always made my life hell by bullying me. Even the teachers didn't like me. I found a dog and took care of it, and that was my one reason for living. I made friends with a girl and told her not to tell anyone, but she was a liar and betrayed my trust. Then, the dog died at the hands of the bullies. Then I killed them.
This anime had its very own atmosphere.. It always felt really cold but at the same time fantastically satisfying.. it is hard to describe.. Anyways, best horror anime ever👍
Coming back 3 years later. I wish I would have enjoyed 2016 to 2018 a little bit more because the times I'm living in right now are boring and tedious. Back then I used to watch animes like these, had crazy friends and I miss all of that action and emotions of a roller-coaster. I've become numb and unable to actually enjoy myself. I don't recognize colors and the outside world as I used to. Back then I found the open world so fascinating and powerful, but now it's just.. uneventful? you could say..
a soul-less journey...walking in endless path...enlighten by darkness...shining with cracks of hope...a glimmer of light its shown...a sign of faith...but a cruel path engulfs your eyes... blind by the blindfold of sorrow...only lament thoughts swarms in your mind
In Star Trek when Picard was suffering the effects of Sarek's mind meld, he lamented the Vulcan's inner feelings of age as "Dry bones and dead friends." A sad scene worthy of an Emmy. Yet it does not compare to the shit Rika and Hanyuu go through. Their bones may not be dry, but their friends constantly die.
Not even references, it's kind of a full fledged sequel to the upper story of Higurashi. Basically, Featherine had Hanyuu as a piece (Theater-going), Lambda was either the challenger or granted Takano absolute victory (Certainty) and Bern was literally created by Rika's constant bombardment of supernatural things (Reincarnated INFINITELY with memories intact) until she could eventually win with a miracle (witch of miracles).
If i listen to this.. You're running out this hell you're seeing everyone lying dead on the ground even you're friends and family, you're crying, running so fast out this hell, But.. you don't know where to go, and then you're stopping with running, And crying so hard.. ~

Umineko isn't a sequel in some ways, and it is in others. There are three characters in Umineko that are actually present in Higurashi, you just NEVER see them in the anime (but you do meet one in Higurashi's VN). Umineko (if you take the time to riddle it out) explains the story behind Higurashi in a bit more detail. ^_^
@teddythebenny thats the theme, & what the stary is trying to teach us, the love behing kohta & Lucy though, & the forgiveness he had. was just simply beautiful due to the fact she was a complete murderer, he just wanted her dumb simple self "Nyu" but higurashi is also by far Amazing, with friendship & i did enjoy it more then elfenlied, but it was more about friendhip & never losing hope. sorta like wolfs rain

I love this song, its so eerie, yet beautiful.

yes :(
There is a happier version of this version on Rika's side. Hanyuu sees fear. Rika sees hope.
It's nice how these pictures were made. Like how people have said there is light in darkness, and vice versa, there's another way to look at it:

Poor Hanyuu. I like so much her, and this picture and the song too, made me cry T_T How many times Hanyuu saw people die?
She didn't just see them die. Her senses were linked with Rika so she experienced the deaths as well
Nathan B Well, yeah, it's sad T_T
And she saw and felt death without being able to react, to do something to change the destiny
I love Hanyuu too ç_ç

Is this the song played in the final fight scene of Higurashi Kai (when Takano tries to shoot Hanyuu, and Rika speaks when Takano missed)?
Yes
When I went to Orlando with my family for vacation, I always listened to this song as we drove through during night-time. I...don't know why......
God, this picture is so depressing... the music just adds to the emotion. T.T

to me... this song symbolizes how you feel after losing a loved one... the shock is gone... and all that is left is overwhelming grief.

This is the opposite of the other picture. Rika sees beauty, flowers and hope, when Hanyuu sees despair and unfair death.

it looks as if they are standing upon the corpses of their loved ones within a 'forest of the lost' watching helplessly as the souls depart.
Note to self: Never totally believe a happy ending from Higurashi until it's the very last episode T.T

i've heard this before somewhere....but where i can't remember¬!!!!
This music with this background is so emotional.

Yes it is the other side of the yokan pic 5 years late Ik but I was hoping I could at least provide with some closure
