    Most incredible is that this CGI is better than the big production of hollywood. amazing

      Apple has more budget than entire countries, they could buy entire Hollywood if they wished.

      It was produced by Jon Favreau, guy behind the live action Lion King and honestly this documentary is a much better use than that bland cash grab lmao.

      Well then, so the fact that *Triceratops horridus/prorsus* are also notable for *having no little fenestrae/skull openings in its distinctive frill* right, Smash Bros. Assemble...? *Is it really TRUE* alright 🤔🤓?

    2:20 this is flawed logic. A skull frill that protects the neck is only useful against equally sized dinosaurs that target the neck. Juveniles however are hunted by much larger animals than themselves so a frill designed to protect the neck would not protect them from being grabbed and ripped apart. Therefore even if the frill was only used for defense, there is no point in growing a large one as a juvenile, meaning that the lack of a frill as a baby is not necessarily evidence against it being solely defensive structure. Not that I believe it is solely a defensive structure. I'm sure it's also for display as well.

      @trvth1s 9 месяцев назад +9

      Great point. They likely had parents for protection so no need for the juvniles to have it.

    • @matthewbadger8685
      @matthewbadger8685 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@trvth1sExactly, something can have one purpose, but also have mitigating circumstances at certain age ranges that make it unnecessary for that purpose. The point you made about the defense from parents is an excellent example of a mitigating circumstance.

      @@matthewbadger8685 good point. A bit terrifying when you think about it. Such massive ceratopcians still had to evolve such thick frills covered in keratin. Or that Bush elephant sized stegosaurus had to evolve serrated plates covered in keratin that ran across its back.

    Defence and display I suspect. And those horns and the animal’s mass, you can’t tell me a T-Rex wouldn’t think twice before engaging a fully grown, healthy Triceratops.

    • @MaxSchmidt-ts3cw
      @MaxSchmidt-ts3cw 2 месяца назад +3

      Considering triceratops rivaled and maybe even succeeded T. rex in mass, it’s hard to argue against the fact that T. rex more often than not got the worst part of fighting a triceratops, triceratops is my absolute favorite and I will not stand for it being any more than T. rex fodder for most people

    • @Spooqi
      @Spooqi 2 месяца назад +2

      Absolutely. Though we can see that Tyrannosaurus have tried facing them head-on before (some Triceratops specimens have bite marks on their horns that show signs of healing, meaning at one point it got in a fight, its horns were damaged, but it survived and healed)
      My guess is that attacking the face of Triceratops was very much not the goal for an adult Tyrannosaurus, with horn biting being an effort of self defense rather than an attempt at bringing it down

    • @MaxSchmidt-ts3cw
      @MaxSchmidt-ts3cw 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Spooqi yea no that definitely, I know they could succeed at going head on with a triceratops too, just more likely than not a healthy grown one

    • @Spooqi
      @Spooqi 2 месяца назад +1

      I assume you're asking if it had quills, similar to that of Psittacosaurus. As far as I know, it hasn't really been proven or disproven, though we do have skin impressions of various parts of Triceratops that don't show signs of keratinous quill-like structures growing from them (including an impression that would've been around its hips)
      If it did have them, my guess is that they'd be fairly reduced, and localized more along the tail
