I actually love the new gear system. Gives a reason to actually go do lower content-even just outdoor content. I missed that. 10.0 i just sat in valdrakken and queued for raid or m+… there is actually a reason to go do things now. I hope they keep this around.

best part about gearing in new patch is that it reminds me the BFA days when you had to do 1 +10 and you get mythic ilvl gear... It's almost similar now you just needs to do few +11 keys to farm crests and upgrade gear to 441 from vault :D
If you are having a tough time with upgrades as a solo player, you can use Enchanted Whelping Crests with the Blue Crafted gear recipes to make 408 gear at max quality. You can't upgrade but you can choose your preferred stats and save flight stones/time.
I'm having a hell of a lot of fun and I do like this new gear system. It's not too bad to understand you just need to spend a few minutes with it and it will make sense

Having m+ gear be 447 and mythic raiding gear be 457 just yet again forces m+ to raid if they want to compete in m+, which is a totally dead and wrongful concept to still hold onto.
@Reulorics Just what do you lose about a system that makes raid gear better in raids and mythic+ gear better in mythic+? Your feelings? They have implemented such a system in pvp for years. By now, there is no real reason to not have separate mythic+ gear and raid gear as well.

Do you have a recommendation for a fresh 70 on a fresh account for someone who is brand new to retail? I'm about to finish the campaign to Valdrakken. Should I continue the quest campaign into the new zone? Or grind dungeons to gear up? Or world bosses?
best is to follow the main campaign as youll eventually reach the new zone and get a full set of new, upgradable gear(upgradeable to 398)within the campaigns quest chain; grab gear from worldquests and do the (weekly) world boss in zaralek caverns aswell meanwhile do your 5 weekly(!) heroics for a 415 item or a drake crest (its a quest found in valdrakken + youll get 389 gear from heroics which can be upgraded to 411 with flightstones) then start with exploring some +2 to +10 keys because you are new, want to get to know the dungeons with people that are the same as you maybe try a normal raid or simply run lfr if you dont feel ready yet

I got outdoor gear for all slots but only two of them go up to 411, rest are capped at 398 which is pretty silly. It wouldn't be too horrible to let the outdoor stuff go to 424.
starting today you can get higher level outdoor gear through Fyrakk Assaults. also i've managed to get Veteran level gear drops from the Niffen Weekly Quest. so i cannot agree with your assessment on just the first week alone.
Yep, very poor design on Bliz part. YT creators are not addressing this as most raid and do M+, so it doesn’t impact them. Also, they work more closely with Bliz PR these days and don’t want to be black listed by Bliz. All the popular YT channels are bending over backwards to paint 10.1 as amazing content. That leaves the rest of us doing fart sniffing quest for cartoon mole people. There is zero challenge to this game for solo/casual players.

I wasn’t a fan of this at first, but the more I’ve had to upgrade gear…when it drops..it’s more rewarding than spamming M+ 2’s for BV. It’s sad to see that I may have to change characters due to Hunter not being in the best spot anymore. They killed BM for no reason 😂 so having to learn MM - it’s so hit or miss, and I love consistency. One or two pulls in a row you’re out dpsing everyone, but the next 4-5 you’re 3rd and maybe even the tank is catching up 😅 prolly just me though. Skill issue.
It’s not just you BM is good burst single target but not on groups of mobs no real good AOE . I can drop to 4th in dps on 5 man heroics trash mobs and on boss fights single target run 1st-2nd and you can set there and watch yourself climb the chart on single target and realize your AOE is trash .
its only a better system because you can now upgrade raid gear - but they should of kept the same valor system and added some vendors - this new system will just drive new players away - good job blizz
I like that they tried to make loot uniform from professians m+ raid and world but they way you upgrade its too complicated should of just made it valour uncapped and need x rating from m+ clear x bosses from raid to upgrade to x level
These days, you need to be rocket scientist to understand anything you need to do to gear up in WoW. What happened with dungeon gear, raid gear and pvp gear? Simple, easy to remember. I quit because of Night Elves and cross faction guilds and grouping, deleted account completely so I don't play this crap anymore. Just hanging around and watching what is happening.
Hey, cheer up, you can now collect hundreds of coins and tokens from several new currency types. Oh boy!!! FUN! This is the worst patch I’ve ever played in WoW and there has been some bad ones. I’ve enjoyed 10.0 up until now. It’s like I’ve run out of things to do and there is no challenge to this content.
It makes it easier to gear up, I think - you want your bis dungeon trinket, you farm it, but it never drops....and then you join a Los key, and you get it. Now you have the option to level it up a bit, but not all the way from +2 to +20... something with a little bit of common sense
+16s really, if you wanna play slots, i mean The Great Vault, then yeah you can do 20s. personally i'm aiming for Mythic and Crafted gear, my Vault turn-ins will be for Sockets.
Here we go again. Blizzard wasting time changing things that do not need to be changed and in the process making it worse, more convoluted , and confusing. There was nothing wrong with Valor. We’ve been asking for it back, you give it back, and then take it away again. Why?! Edit: I watched a little further into the video, and once again Blizzard drops the ball on catalysts. Bliz is tripping over themselves to reset what good will they won back with DF. This expansion is my last attempt to stay with the game. Seriously think about it for a moment. We have cartoon mole people giving us fart sniffing quest and there are poo play quest. This is now a MMO for babies.
Well, if they give catalyst on day 1 and everyone has 4 set within a month (at most, catalyst only, no vault or raid drops) - there's not much incentive to do content/log in/basically play the game 😉

Any upgrade vendor. There is one in Loam, one in valdrakken where the target dummies are, several in shadowlands areas ( class halls, oribos etc)
