as far as the Jerry Lawler quote, i think it’s because in late 1997 early 1998 he ALWAYS made fun of Taka Michinokou… his son was in a feud with Taka, so we’d always get a Japan joke

I grew out of wrestling by my teens. But when i was a kid, Mine was Smackdown 2: Know your role. We rented it from the Video Store and kept it because we loved it so much 😂😂. Followed by a close 2nd WCW vs NWO Revenge
Same. This game had one match type I’ve always wanted in other games and that was the 4 v4v4v4 match where hitting your finisher on someone eliminated them. Super fun. Also there was an exploit with HBK where I could hit people with sweet chin music even if their health wasn’t red, I just launched the kick into a crowd and the person who caught it got eliminated. Lol
I jumped from wwf raw on genesis to attitude on the ps1, and I was blown away by the entrances and graphics…I still have a soft spot for the game, no matter what people say 😢
I know Attitude wasn't considered a good game, but when I got it after only having WCW Nitro for my new PSX, it was the greatest wrestling game I ever played! This game has so much sentimental value to me. I had over 100 CAWs on numerous memory cards. Perhaps the most bizarre thing about this game, that 616 oddly omitted, is one of the unlockable characters.... Head. As in Al Snow's mannequin head prop. It was a floating head with gloves and boots on an invisible torso with dialogue voiced by Al himself in a falsetto voice. Bonus fun fact: When the game was delayed to remove the Blue Blazer character, three OTHER characters were also removed and replaced with new ones; Nation of Domination member, Kama Mustafa, was replaced with his then brand new gimmick, Godfather. The Kama model was made into an alt attire for him. Also removed were Tiger Ali Singh (Sent to developmental-) and Steven Regal (Fired due to severe addiction issues.). I put so much time into Attitude as a teen. It does not hold up but the memories of playing this in my cousins basement have a special place in my heart.
This was the first wrestling game i ever played and was one of the reasons why as a kid I was huge fan of Kane and Undertaker. Didn’t think it could get any better until I played Smackdown 2: Know Your Role on the ps1.
Summer of 99 right here , loved it to death , playing it on the 64 , and then with my bone crunchers . This is not a favourite to all but it’s gold to me . Time capsule for sure ❤️
New retrospectives on old games? Yes please! I love the History of Smackdown! But you've come a long way and really found your voice on this channel since then. The retrospectives have only gotten better. So I'd be all in on that for sure!
I have so much nostalgia for both War Zone and Attitude. Sitting in my Uncle Ed's living room playing until 3 in the morning. Regardless of the game play as a kid, playing as your favorite wrestlers was life.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that remembered the wait for this and the constant delays! I thought this was until the bomb until I got a N64. Still so many good hours on this. Good job and keep on making content 👍🏻
I remember when this game was coming out. The big talk on this was the voice acting and especially the entrances. Thise were awesome....at the time. Lol great video as always!
Can’t wait for that Day of Reckoning retrospective. The two DoR games are awesome. Heads up: if you plan on looking at Day of Reckoning 2 in the future, pick the RAW brand in DoR1. Outside of the wrestlers used, the RAW and Smackdown! storylines are nearly identical but DoR2’s story mode assumes you chose the RAW brand.
I started with Warzone so I definitely enjoyed attitude. Smackdown definitely blew it out the water when it came out but this was still fun when it came out.
The Lawler joke is that it's just one Woman giving birth to babies every 4 seconds. So he's saying he's going to go and put a stop to her pumping out too many kids. It's a pretty funny joke, but it's utterly baffling why they had him shout it before a match. 😅
That’s not a joke. It’s like being ready to go to war and someone asks how you’re feeling and you say “Man there’s a gas station selling gas for $.25 a gallon. I’m gonna get over there and tell them to knock it off!” Where’s the joke? Hahahaha
@@616EntertainmentI mean. The joke is that he thinks it’s the same woman giving birth every 4 seconds not that different women are having babies. It’s like saying my father said he gets laid every night even when my mom is out of town, he must be spending a fortune on gas. The person telling the joke and their warped logic is meant to be laughed at. The dad is saying he’s cheating on the mom, but the child thinks the dad means he’s finding the mom and fucking her. Really dumb before a match though.
This was the game us PlayStation kids SWORE was as good as our Nintendo friends' WCW games... we were lying to our friends and ourselves! Great work as always, I just love these retrospectives
Thank you for this retrospective! Attitude was the first wrestling game I ever owned and I have very fond memories of it. Even though it doesn't hold up well today, it was still tons of fun back then and I appreciated the large roster, arena customization, variety of match types, commentary and the weird pre-match promos. All this stuff was novelty back then. I was jealous of the kids that owned Revenge or Wrestlemania 2000, but I still was having a blast with Attitude. Stable matches were fun AF. I remember doing DX vs Ministry vs the Nation vs Randoms. They were a blast. Also to point out, I think this is one of the very few games where Kane's tombstone pin animation is correct (he extends his opponent's arms, rather than cross them after performing the move). Great job as always Ian. Much love and respect.
You’re getting these wrestling game videos faster than usual and I’m so happy about it. Also some of them actually do sound like Road dogg doing a different voice, i don’t put it past him to be able to do different voices
Here is the most fun I've EVER had laughing with wrestling games: on the PS1, stable match: 1 min time limit, KO on. One punch would eliminate someone. That person will leave the ring. You can do a splash over the top rop onto them, as they are running towards the ramp. You'l go flying! Then, go up to the ramp. Start punching and kicking. You will hear the next person already start making sounds, sometimes sweat appears out of nowhere. When the timer is up, all the computer AI is so confused- sometimes doing moves to invisible people! The winner screen can sometimes be confused as well- people still in the ring, you having the ability to move around still, music not playing etc. Hilarious!
This was a fantastic retrospective, Ian😁. While I may not have liked this game or any of the Acclaim games due to me playing all of the better wrestling games first that had no MK style codes for moves and that, I still appreciate what Acclaim was trying to do with their titles. It may not have worked for everyone, but for those who legit liked these games and have nostalgia for them, more power to you all👍. Awesome stuff Ian, and now I’m BEYOND excited and happy you’re FINALLY gonna cover WWE Day of Reckoning🥹. I love that game and its sequel to the bottom of my heart, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Great start to 2024 man, and I can’t wait for all your content this year. I love you and all the DanDans so much, and I hope y’all have a great weekend.😊❤️
Thanks man finally. This was my GOAT for a long time. It was so exciting in the 90s to pop this in and suddenly you have everyone’s walk out song. No one had that
I managed to get beta copy of this game (seriously I don't remember how) but my friend and I played the crap out of that beta until the release version came out. Man, we were SO excited for this game! Full entrances, themes, specialty matches, it had it all at the time!
Yeah I remember spending a lot of time in the create a wrestler menu selection listening to those banging tracks and songs 😂😂😂😂. Some pretty interesting theme songs that you could give your created wrestler
Definitely a part of my childhood when it comes to wrestling games. It was a blast to play with my brother to play as this and WWF Warzone introduced me to WWF during the Attitude era.
🤣 man I loved this game. Especially since I was a huge PlayStation fan at the time. Yeah, all the buttons you had to push just to pull off a move was annoying. But when I pulled off that stunner, I was hooked.
Attitude was the first WWF game I ever had, and I have fond memories of playing it. However, once I got Smackdown and the N64 WWF games, I never returned to this one.
Pumped for the DOR episode. Most definitely my most played and nostalgic wrestling game for me. I tried Attitude/ War Zone back in the day, and could never get into them. Excellent video man !
Funny enough, this is my most recent wrestling game purchase. I owned it when it came out for my PS1, but it was a loan out to a friend which I never recovered... not to mention the decades long list of games I have to catch up on... and "WWF Attitude" was high on said list. Just got it for my Dreamcast last year from Ebay. I mastered Mortal Kombat early on, so I was ALL IN on memorizing the button combos for the wrestlers moves back when I first owned it. I even still remembered some when I got my new copy! Crucifix Powerbomb (Razor's Edge): Left, Right, Up, X. And uh.... Lawler is strongly against overpopulation. Anyway, great episode dude. Been waiting for you to cover the zaniness that is "WWF Attitude"! Was just about to mention the removal of the Owen tribute... was the first thing I noticed. R.I.P. Owen Hart.
Brother this brings me back too when I was 13 or 14 me and my mate Sam would jam this for hours recreating hell in a cell massive shit talking each other was the golden years thank you for bringing back memories bro ❤
The 13 year old me wants to travel back in time and beat you for such comments!!! I loved this game. I loved wwf which helped and I played it to death. Loved the difficult combos. Everything. I spent one 6 months buying any playstation magazine I could find with news and info wishing my life away to play it. It just kept getting pushed back!! When I heard THQ was taking over I was horrified after we got nitro and thunder. But those Smackdown games turned out alright . . . Great video again Dan.
I remember my brothers and I being really excited for this game as we were huge WWF fans and played War Zone rather extensively. Attitude really was just a bigger, bloated version of War Zone...although the 3D novelty had worn thin, and the presentation wasn't enough to make the core game play shine, as by that point it had aged like milk. We still had fun with it despite its shortcomings, though our overall experience with it wound up boiling down to making countless create-a-wrestlers just because that mode proved to be more fun than the game itself. The Attitude intro cinematic still slaps, though. And now that you mention the Hardys...watching the wrestlers go from laying prone to standing up, you can definitely see Matt Hardy and his bow-legged movement in that animation.
So glad youre covering this! I loved this game as a kid! Played the hell out of it. I even picked up a copy around 2020 for PS1 (I had only ever played for n64 and never had a save pack) and was pumped to finally use the whole roster eventually. Finished through the first leg of career mode, turned it off. Came back the next day, the wrestlers I unlocked? Vanished. My career progress? Somehow still there. Just the thought of playing through that long ass career mode, only to lose everything I unlocked the moment I shut the game off, I haven't touched it since.😅
I'd like a History of Smackdown Revisited. I love your history of Smackdown series but also must say your videos have evolved over the years and have gotten better and more entertaining. Keep it up!
Im glad you highlighted some of the audio weirdness from this game, as i had never noticed any of the generic CAW audio, music and the Jerry Lawler insanity before as a kid
5:43 I think the joke here is that Jerry Lawler misunderstood the trivia about Japan thinking “A woman gives birth to a baby every 4 seconds” means one woman instead of a general statement about Japan’s population. The joke isn’t funny, but I think I get it.
As a kid I really had a blast with this game especially since I didn't really know much about wrestling until I played wwf warzone and attitude i really just watching wrestling in 2000
The CAW voice quotes unlocked childhood memories. Had so many CAWs in this game. What a massive upgrade Smackdown1/2 and WM2000/NoMercy were lol. Great childhood memories none the less
I actually enjoyed Attitude WAY MORE than War Zone! Creating my character, actually modifying the inputs so that doing my moves could be faster an easier -- essentially circumventing the usual awkward input style thatWar Zone cursed us with.
Iconic box art played the hell out of this game.. i remember it crashing as I was droz shoulder bashing someone in the turnbuckle over and over and it was hilarious
I've only played the N64 version of WWF Attitude from rental store. Never got too deep into it aside from me and my brothers having three on one hardcore matches
Remember that time X-Pac got Kane to say, "Suck it!", without the voice modulator??? 😂😂😂 Loved the attitude era! Your videos are always awesome, brother! 👍
When they had Triple H do the DX mic crowd work in the entrance, along with Road Dogg with his mic work for his theme, I was blown away as a kid. This game was everything to me when it came out, I couldn’t believe what I was playing. Looking back, I can’t believe the control scheme to pull of moves and finishers but hey it was great at the time
Makes sense to not feature the hardys as playable characters: the game focus on the period of late '98 to early '99, the Hardys only started to be pushed after Wrestlemania XV, with their first RAW televised match happening in May '99, before that they were working Shotgun and HeAT and the the game itself was released in July.
I absolutely loved both War Zone and Attitude...at the time. War Zone was the first next gen console wrestling game I played so there's definitely some nostalgia there for me. And Attitude, being technically the sequel to War Zone, was very endearing to me, as well. Me and a buddy of mine played the hell out of Attitude and finished it completely, as far as I'm aware, too. Another thing I loved about Attitude was that, myself being a Juggalo, you could make Insane Clown Posse in Create A Wrestler. Both Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope's face paint were featured in there, only they were both purple base with the black instead of white base with black. So if you selected either of them, you could just turn the purple base to white and voila, you had ICP's face paint! And their song 'The Greatest Show', which The Oddities used as entrance music, was also available to use so you could even have your ICP characters come to the ring to their own song! That was so cool! Yeah, the games didn't age well, but both still hold a lot of fond memories for me, especially Attitude.
The Oddities stable was hardly being used and just starting to disband when the game came out. Kurrgan was the only member who made the cut (Sable had left the group by then). I think they couldn't use Golga due to not being able to use the Cartman character. Kai-en-Tai suffered a similar fate with only TAKA making it in, and then only to represent the light-heavyweight division.
Cannot wait for DoR! Great memories of playing it with siblings, watching playthroughs years later, and now we have the Forbidden DoR mod pushing it to its limits (the creator Miles is very cool and active chatting with his viewers about it too). I don't think you've done of a run of it so that's definitely an idea for the channel someday. I have always wanted to do it with Brock as the player character against Evolution after he was out of the roster.
I played this game and like the Backyard Wrestling games I consider this game a guilty pleasure is it a good Wrestling game no but I have fun playing it.
WWF Attitude, a good final WWF game from Acclaim was being overshadowed by THQ's first good WWF video game, WWF WrestleMania 2000, a mere 5 months later.
I hope you see this. I just found this video and I think it's very interesting. So I'm gonna go back and be watched your other stuff about this topic before I keep going. It would be really cool to see you redoing some of the those things
Great retrospective dude! I remembered how exited I was playing these games and at the time never realized how bad it was lol Those character grunts made my parents so mad 😂😂 #ThanksForWhatYouDo #WeAreTheDanDans #MuchLove #WwfRetrospective

I'm with you. Stable matches were my go-to on this game, they were awesome!
Just the thought of playing through that long ass career mode, only to lose everything I unlocked the moment I shut the game off, I haven't touched it since.😅
Thanks for making this video, Ian. I loved this game as a kid when it came out
We all did, we do what we can with what we have at the time, hahaha
I'd like a History of Smackdown Revisited. I love your history of Smackdown series but also must say your videos have evolved over the years and have gotten better and more entertaining. Keep it up!
Im glad you highlighted some of the audio weirdness from this game, as i had never noticed any of the generic CAW audio, music and the Jerry Lawler insanity before as a kid
That Crimson Grin theme was lit asf. Wish we could get more themes like that in the newer games
5:43 I think the joke here is that Jerry Lawler misunderstood the trivia about Japan thinking “A woman gives birth to a baby every 4 seconds” means one woman instead of a general statement about Japan’s population.
The joke isn’t funny, but I think I get it.
I came here to try and explain this, with the risk of making the joke even less funny, so thanks!
Love your Videos!!! Amazing Work!!!
The sounds of this game is what made it unique. I still play it till this day.
Great video man! Keep it up!
Today is the most attention this game has gotten since 1999 lol. This TXSO Retrospective and nL's Daily Rumble
My favorite part of this game: "IT'S THE GOVERNOR BABY....HEYYYYY!!!" LMAO! To this day I still sing that song randomly. Especially in the shower!
Yessss, been waiting for this one!
This gonna be sweet!
Thank you Ian...This really was my era...
As a kid I really had a blast with this game especially since I didn't really know much about wrestling until I played wwf warzone and attitude i really just watching wrestling in 2000
Stable matches with finisher only were my go to during my childhood as well
The CAW voice quotes unlocked childhood memories. Had so many CAWs in this game. What a massive upgrade Smackdown1/2 and WM2000/NoMercy were lol. Great childhood memories none the less
Mick Foley sure does love his wrestling games
You 100% need to do a warzone play through of that TV gauntlet mode. I’d love to watch it.
About time we got to DOR 🔥
Happy New Year everybody!
I'm glad this video is performing well you deserve it.
@616 Entertainment,
Pleasee do a comparison video, of all the Akklaim Wrestling Games ! 🙏
You gotta pass me some of that Superman you have statues I don’t have yet🙌🏾
I actually enjoyed Attitude WAY MORE than War Zone! Creating my character, actually modifying the inputs so that doing my moves could be faster an easier -- essentially circumventing the usual awkward input style thatWar Zone cursed us with.
I played warzone a lot attitude i didn't get to play looking at this vidro i see i didn't miss much
Iconic box art played the hell out of this game.. i remember it crashing as I was droz shoulder bashing someone in the turnbuckle over and over and it was hilarious
I've only played the N64 version of WWF Attitude from rental store. Never got too deep into it aside from me and my brothers having three on one hardcore matches
Remember that time X-Pac got Kane to say, "Suck it!", without the voice modulator??? 😂😂😂
Loved the attitude era!
Your videos are always awesome, brother! 👍
When they had Triple H do the DX mic crowd work in the entrance, along with Road Dogg with his mic work for his theme, I was blown away as a kid. This game was everything to me when it came out, I couldn’t believe what I was playing. Looking back, I can’t believe the control scheme to pull of moves and finishers but hey it was great at the time
I’m 26 & mannnn Dogg u took me bacc to middle school wit this one brotha😭💙
WOW!! its been 4 years since the WWF Warzone video came out!! I remember commenting saying I couldn't wait for the WWF Attitude video to come out LOL!
The sound design of these games were amazing. The dialogue of the wrestlers and the jeering of the crowd have stuck with me.
I played this game and like the Backyard Wrestling games I consider this game a guilty pleasure is it a good Wrestling game no but I have fun playing it.
eye of the chicken will always be jam but, great review man. bring me back to 8 year old me 😄
WWF Attitude, a good final WWF game from Acclaim was being overshadowed by THQ's first good WWF video game, WWF WrestleMania 2000, a mere 5 months later.
When can we expect the day of reckoning retrospect?
I knew you were gonna say Stable Match. This Match type had a chokehold on me. I so want it in a modern game
Ayyy, let's gooo !! 🔥🔥🔥
I hope you see this. I just found this video and I think it's very interesting. So I'm gonna go back and be watched your other stuff about this topic before I keep going. It would be really cool to see you redoing some of the those things
Alot of people hate warzone and attitude but i loved them
Great retrospective dude! I remembered how exited I was playing these games and at the time never realized how bad it was lol Those character grunts made my parents so mad 😂😂

WWF Attitude memories ❤❤
Omg my 8th grade self just got excited about this one. I got this back in 1999, and couldn’t wait to play as X-PAC. Lol oh and “IM THE GUVNA, BABY!”
Happy new year
I miss this game it's crazy how crazy looking it is today
