It describes playful connections to Cheers, like clever crossover characters and guest appearances transporting viewers between the shows' worlds. The timeless, melodic theme song adapted from a 19th-century composition set the perfect emotional tone. Rising star Tony Shalhoub's minor role led to his breakout as loveable Italian cab driver Antonio, whose name coincided with Shalhoub's actual parents.
The video also reveals juicy tidbits like George Clooney and Julia Louis-Dreyfus auditioning for parts, demonstrating the show's wide reach and appeal. It touchingly honors late producer Roz Doyle by describing Frasier's character Roz as a tribute to her impact. The curious coincidence of the show sharing its name with a 1920s silent film is covered. At the heart was Sandpiper Air and its quirky staff that made viewers feel part of its family.
There are somber moments too, like remembering talented creator David Angell's tragic death on 9/11. But humor returns as real-life romantic sparks between Amy Yasbeck and John Ritter after playing love interests are described. The video concludes by reflecting on Wings' witty yet emotionally grounded writing and enduring legacy.
This glimpse behind the scenes of Wings will delight fans. It recreates the show's nostalgic atmosphere through funny, poignant revelations and storied history. The piece reminds viewers why this sitcom carved art such an unforgettable place in our hearts and television culture. It will leave readers longing to revisit this classic show that soars beyond time.

Wings was one of my favorite TV shows.
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
I have so many I can't decide
Wings
Home Improvement
Family Matters
Antonio was my favorite. Every time I saw his character, as a taxi driver, I would start laughing. This was a very entertaining program. Well put together. Carol from California
I watched “Wings” because of Crystal Bernard. I followed her career all the way from her guest appearance on “Gimme A Break.” She hit the jackpot 3 times with hit series “Happy Days”, “It’s A Living”, and “Wings.” The late Brandon Tarktokoff recommended her to the producers of “Wings” because of her role on “It’s A Living.” He thought she was so funny on that show that he believed she would be the right choice for the role of “Helen.”
Roy Biggens!!! How could you leave him out!!!
They were all so good and entertaining!! We loved that show!
Antonio was the funniest character
One of my favourite TV shows we got in my country in the 90s. Wings, Cheers, Alf etc, they do not make tv like that anymore
Lowell Mather!
I've always liked Crystal Bernard. I enjoy her Texan accent. I liked her in the 2 Christmas movies about the Santa's getting married. I liked the episode which was a 2 parter where Helen moved to New York to further her career playing the cello. I think Thomas H. Church.was probably the funniest tho. 🙏💓😊
Us too! Thank you so much for bringing back memories. What other types of video would you like to see?

Tony was also a cab driver in the Bill Murray movie Quick Change.
I loved watching wings. My favorite characters are Joe; Brian & Helen
Me too
Totally impossible for me to pick a favorite character in Wings' because there were so many, lol.
I can't pick my absolute favorite character either. Each one was so funny in their own individual way.😂😂😂😂
I love wings
I forgot about shoulder pads lol😂😂😂
I liked Wings. The TV show and the Band.
YESSS!!!
I have a favorite I love them all!
I never watched Wings when it was on in the 1990s, but I soon became a fan in the 2000s. In my case, the same can be said about Seinfeld. In the 2000s, Wings came on at night right before a show I liked, so I would often catch the ending of Wings. It was then I realized this show was funny. It was so funny I bought the whole series on DVD. The same can be said about Seinfeld. For me to like a TV show, I have to care about and like the cast, as well as the humor. Whether Taxi, The Odd Couple, Mary Tyler Moore Show, or any other show I like, I have to like the cast as well as the humor. I guess you would think it odd that I don't care for Cheers, even though Cheers and Wings are related in a way. The cast on Wings was great, but it was sad to see Thomas Haden Church leave such a successful show. So, in the 2000s, I became a fan of Seinfeld and Wings.
I took acting classes in high school. And I tried out for a major contact going for the role of Family Ties. I came in Second to the actor who did the role greatness. It hurt a little to come in Second.
Helen Chapel ♥
Brian is my fav
I wanted to move to Nantucket til I found out that the island created by the show is essentially fictional and the real Nantucket is just another Martha's vineyard
Antonio = GOAT
Antony Shalhoub turned this show into a funny one. I could sense more energy in the rest of the cast after Scarpacci joined the gang.
Antonio
Lowell was the best...!!!
He waa Antonio when he was the waiter. He became a cab driver to give him a reason to regularly be at the airport. And the theme song was only used for 3 seasons and the finale.
Helen Chapel THE BEST!
Peri Gilpin, not Terri.
Did you really say, "...turned into Wings..."?
Father guido sarducci
I thought this was about the 70s band. Never heard of the show
Waite the creator of wings died in a plane crash?
