The Woke folks need to hear this message instead of creating hate for all that don't agree with their ridiculous ideas. Sorry, I would normally not bring political topics into a beautiful musical performance vid, but it is so true. If Stevie was alive today, he would be ashamed of what the Democratic party has become.

You're seeing Stevie sing a lyric that is now on his own grave stone. It says Thank you for "all the love you've passed our way..."
Because Charley meant so much to him I think this is one of his most beautiful heartfelt songs & my favorite.
    "Life Without You" - SRV
    Well hello baby,
Tell me, How have you been?
    We all have missed you,
    And the way you grin
    The day is necessary,
    Every now and then
    For souls to move on,
    Given life back again
Fly on, Fly on, Fly on my friend
Go on, Go on and live again, Love again
Cause day after day, Night after night
Sittin' here singin', every, every minute
As the years go passin' by, by, by,
A long look in the mirror,
    We come face to face
Wishin' our love we took for granted
    A love we had yesterday,
    Cause Life Without You
All the love, you've passed our way
Angels have waited, for so long
    Now they have their way
    Take your place....

Thank You, Jennifer Hurburt. I have never read the lyrics before and upon reading them here, it allowed me to arrange everything that was going on in & around this Song into a cogent order that my Heart and Mind can now understand quite a bit better! Thank You again Jennifer. Remain Well and reasonably Happy. Keep Smiling...

    • @jennhurl
      @jennhurl 3 года назад +4

@@shineon7641 1st - I noticed you said "reasonably happy." Did you pick that up from the 2nd verse of the Serenity Prayer? Just curious 😊
Thank you so much! I think sometimes because Stevie's guitar playing is so powerful, usual, & brilliant that people watch every movement his body makes & focus in amazement on his fingers. He sings in such a way that we hear his raw imperfect voice and are equally amazed that he does all that while singing. In result, I find that his song lyrics can take last place. Stevie can give you a whole feeling & mood without catching a single lyric. 🤣 I may be totally wrong but that's my perception!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ That's why, with this song in particular, I cross my fingers people will read the lyrics. It's truly beautiful! ❤🎵✌ Have a great day friend.

This song was written by Stevie for his friend Charley Wirz who was a mentor and helped Stevie in how he designed his guitars and who died of a heart attack. Notice at the beginning Stevie nods he changes guitars without missing a beat. The white guitar is named Charley after his friend.
His beat up guitar is called Number One. His brother Jimmy has a wawa pedal that belonged to Hendrix. They traded cause Hendixes was broken. Stevie is by far my favorite. I love the man even more. He went into rehab in the fall 1986 at the same time as his best friend bassist Tommy Shannon. He helped many people to come into sobriety. Very humble and gentle even though he was fierce on stage. How many times I've heard that and got teary eyed.

The way out is in. We all should be judging ourselves..we judge ourselves and not others. Stevie always gave a speech when he performed this song live...he had the same message before and after getting clean from drugs and alcohol...which was to give away all you have and love others and lend a helping hand when you can. Just think, not one single man, woman, or child living or dead or yet to be born has ever brought anything on earth with them from the womb...we all arrived having no possesions. Everything around you was already here. No one has ever truly created anything, at best they have taken what was already here and rearranged it. Will Mankind ever grow up and stop fighting and killing each other?

👏👏🎸🎶‼️great reaction thank you! This is one of my all time favorites of Stevie. It has it all, switching out an out of tune guitar that if you were looking away never heard a dropped beat (you noticed that immediately), played behind his back, delivered tender vocals that melt your heart and smooth your soul, plays with his teeth, loses a false tooth, locates it on stage, lets his tech know he lost his tooth, and then says sorry (for having to pick up his tooth) and keeps playing and killing it. And bonus score a heart felt message that is sadly needed even more today than it was then.

One knob Stevie never had to adjust was volume. He kept it at the top (10) until he got a company to make an amp that went higher than 10. Your ears got scorched at a SRV concert. I saw a few interviews of people who tried to play his guitar and could not push the strings on the frets. They are 13 gauge. That gives him that tone and sustain he liked. Ravaged his fingers though. Great reaction. I'm signing up!

It was Bowie not wanting to push Stevie over the top as Stevie was releasing Texas Flood, his first albumn, in a few months after he worked with Bowie.
Some of it was Lenny (Stevie's wife) being bizarre and spastic and very disruptive during recording. Stevie and Lenny were deep into coke and alcohol. Relationship was toxic and abusive on both sides.
Bowie also refused to have Double Trouble open or be billed. Stevie was just going up be back up guitarist. Stevie was a lot of things but a bitch to any musician, much less Bowie, never happened. He never disrespected anyone and wouldn't put up with it from anyone but his brother, Jimmie. And he cold cocked Jimmie on occasion if Jimmie was acting an ass and calling him outside Stevie's name in Antone's back in the day.
They were also frustrated Stevie could not read, write, or follow sheet music. Zero understanding of music theory.
Let's Dance video has Bowie plagiarizing playing Stevie's work. Pissed Stevie to no end. There is a reason they never collaborated again despite Bowie "discovering SRV and Double Trouble". Most people outside the blues don't know SRV was the guitarist on that album. They think Bowie did that magik.
Bowie milked discovering SRV for everything he could later, especially after SRV died.
Funny anecdote. Eric Clapton heard Let's Dance driving. He pulled over and listened then went right then to find out who that guitar player was. First time he saw SRV live, someone asked him what he thought of SRV. He said, "I think I need to retire." He loved Stevie but HATED following up behind Stevie. He was known to get pale, tremble, stutter and cry. He refused to play some gigs if sharing stage or only showed up for his own part and left. He was that intimidated. He told Buddy Guy, "How the fuck do I follow up after him!" in their last performances at Alpine. Buddy laughed, patted Eric on his shoulder and told him, "As best you can".
Below is an excerpt from an interview Clapton did years after Stevie died.
"I don't think anyone has commanded my respect more, to this day. This first time I heard Stevie Ray, I thought, "Who ever this is, he is going to shake the world."
I was in my car and I remember thinking, I have to find out, before the day is oven who that guitar player is. That doesn't happen to me very often that I get that way about listening to music. I mean, about three or four times in my life I've felt that way, in a car, listening to the radio, where I've stopped the car, pulled over, listened and thought, I've got to find out before the end of the day, not, you know, sooner or later, but now.
I remember being fascinated by the
fact that he never ever seemed to be...lost in any way...It was as though he never took a breather...or took a pause to think where he was gonna go next, it just flowed out of him. It's going to be a long time before anyone that brilliant will come along again.
I didn't get to see or hear Stevie play near often enough, but every time I did I got chills and knew I was in the presence of greatness. He seemed to be an open channel and music just flowed through him. It never seemed to dry up.
I have to tell this story: We played on the same bill on his last two gigs. On the first night, I watched his set for about half an hour and then I had to leave because I couldn't handle it! I knew enough to know that his playing was just going to get better and better. His set had started, he was like two or three songs in, and I suddenly got this flash that I'd experienced before so many times whenever I'd seen him
play, which was that he was like a channel. One of the purest channels I've ever seen, where everything he sang and played flowed straight down from heaven. Almost like one of those mystic, Sufi guys with one finger pointing up and one finger down. That's what it was like to listen to him. And I had to leave just to preserve some kind of sanity or confidence in myself." - Eric Clapton

Hey there, thanks for sharing that with us! There is a lot more going on here than meets the eye though. Do you remember, in the beginning, when they switched out his guitar? That wasn't because he broke a string or anything like that, no, it was because of this Song, "Life Without You." SRV wrote this Song for a long time and dear friend of his, named Charley, that had recently passed away. Well, the Guitar that SRV's crew set him up with is Named "Charley," after this friend that passed away. It was named "Charley" because Charley built that guitar, by hand just for SRV! See, you just never know, right?! Anyway, I just thought you might like to know some of that. Keep Smiling...

When Stevie spoke of his friends in a "country down south" I thought he was referring to South America , but I read the book ' Texas Flood ' and learned he was referring to apartheid. There is no other guitarist that I want to watch live with the exception maybe of Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits. Nice job my friend ~ RIP SRV~

RIP SRV. Still killing it I see. Dude, keep it up. Ya got chops man! Reactions are good too. Let's see ya play a long one. If you need harmonica back let's do that shit online. I'm a quadriplegic but can play. For real.

Awesome reaction mate. Don’t worry I’m 60yrs old now and I been a fan of his for most of my life since I first heard him play and still am. He is a grand master yes Gold standard of the guitar and I say he’s the GOAT. His master class tune that he left to all humanity that you need to react too is Riviera Paradise live at Austin Texas. Thank me later dude. I have subscribed to watch you react to it especially coz I know you need too 👍

If certain other singers (looking at you, Axl Rose) had broke a nail, he would have walked off stage, cancelled the tour and quit the band.
Meanwhile, Stevie could lose a tooth, break 3 strings, the stage could be on fire, and he would *still* keep singing while playing the guitar behind his back. That is what a true musician does.

You have a special talent on the guitar. It’s great when an amazing guitarist reacts to SRV and can truly appreciate him. This is my favorite SRV performance, however, he has many many more just as amazing. I look forward to your next SRV reaction.

He broke a tooth in this performance. If you watch, right after playing with his teeth he looks over to his right and he smiles then says, it broke.
