Great video. Glad someone did it for this game. This is one of my favorite newer games. Dead Man’s Doubloons would be the other that has a great theme and artwork. I typed this as I watched: I’ve played 92 solo games 2 boat & ghost. I got a good deal on it from someone on BGG who picked it up before it came out at retail. I have a bunch of posts on BGG forum you could check out. and have a Raids microbadge lol I do play other games! This one is easy to set up, fast play, score and and re-box. It solos well for my style of play.I play each turn to win and play fast so I don’t keep score during the game. the end scoring can be surprising that way. you can really catch up in the last voayage. I made an excel score sheet and keep basic stats out of interest. It’s a scoring game. It should come with a score sheet!! Hi score 108, Lo 31, 5 Ties. 35 pt highest differential. Avg tiles picked up 17 (Hi 23). Average winner points for coins 27 (Hi 36), Mjöllnir’s 13 (Hi 28), Monsters 16 (Hi 32), Goods 18 (Hi 30), Runes 11 (Hi 25), Penants 2 (Hi 7), total score avg 82 I play with the harbor tiles face down until that voyage begins. It’s makes it more interesting. Note one of the rune tiles has no rune symbol (pronounced roon). It should. it’s a misprint. I place the coins on the player boards on the back end so three stacks of the 1pt, 3pt and 6 pt coins keep them organized. you can still see how many you’ve collected. I place a viking on the sail image of the sail tiles as a reminder to add one. Not to confuse viewers but @16:25 the pink boat picks up the sail tile to their player board (that happens to me when I try to explain things in a video lol) I would have just explained the fighting as it happened between orange and green but it was agood point pink didn’t have vikings to fight anyone with. Per an example you mentioned later I sometimes fight to reduce the number of oppoent’s vikings. I do it if the have Mjöllnir’s that score points for vikings on the boat. Rune points can add up so that’s anohter reason. Another would be to get voyage tiles you might need to score more coin points at the harbor. 6pt coins in a 2 boat game are huge. @ 18:45 it’s good to show a full battle. In reality I’d never fight over a 3pt tile lol But good examples overall and letting viewers know why a particular strategy would be good. Someone on BGG pointed out if you use axes to fight monsters why can’t you use them to fight other vikings. I never tried to houserule that lol @21:40 I place a viking on those tiles so I don’t forget to gain one. @22:40 good scoring example covered the bases when you open the bag of wooden vikings the first time they smell like varnish which is kinda cool. The game could be called Voyages since there’s really only the 1 and 3 pt coin Pillage tiles that have a burning village lol but Raids sounds better. There’s parts of the rulebook that could be written or edited clearer. I like the color of the boats and the vibrant saturated artwork. Somehow i don’t mind a pink Viking longboat lol btw the box top artwork has ‘eyes’ wihtin the axes ; )
Wow, you really love this game thanks so much for your feedback and insight as much as I would love to play some games more I just don't have the time as I am always on to the next game working on the next video. Also thanks for pointing out different times in the video and providing your thoughts and references to them it is great to see people coming up with their own house rules and variants to make the game better or different. Thanks for watching and taking the time to post I really enjoyed reading through your thoughts;)
So I just bought this game two days ago and haven't watched your video help explain certain questions I had such as the shield space for the vikings. I was thoroughly impressed with your presentation and I learned a lot of things about the game that I was a little confused on. Thank you very much for clarifying it. I was really surprised to find that this game was on sale at the local gaming store. Which actually isn't really local it's in San Antonio, Texas. I really do appreciate you taking the time to educate all your viewers on this game. Have you ever considered doing one on Catan: barbarians and traders?
Thanks so much for watching and for your positive feedback it means a lot hearing my videos are helping fellow gamers learn and enjoy their games;) Surprisingly even with the number of euros I have covered on this channel I am not a big fan of them normally and Catan was one I never got into, I am more a minis guy.
have qestions 1 harbor tiles when finish each round (2nd-4th) I dont understand with the image may u more detail explain plz 2 which tiles after claim put on longship board and which tiles are not
I play Raids with some friends. Tonight, we got the Shield Port and there was confusion on the scoring phase at the end. The directions in the manual didn't seem to cover this or we couldn't find it. Confusion: Do you only count the number of shields still open on the ship or all the shields available whether covered by a Viking or not. We do know that you would not count any of the shields covered by merchandise or say a single shield.
You are correct it is not covered in the rules. My thoughts on it would be that you count all the shields still open including ones covered by vikings just not ones covered merchandise. I can check with Iello when I see them this week at Gen-con. Thanks for the question and for watching.

My son received this game as a gift. This was super helpful for our family to learn how to play with him. Thank you.
Thanks, glad to hear the video was helpful and hope you and your family stays safe and enjoys gaming together;)
Great rundown of a very well produced new favorite of mine. No fluff, just a clear playthrough of a round. Best way to learn.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching. I am glad that my approach is helping people play their games.
Thank u so much! Great video! I have one question: in the scoring, what the flag does?
