  • I gained some height on my Ford E350 after adding new wheels and bigger tires and installing a Ford Parts one leveling kit, I needed to know if my stock jack would still work if I were to get a flat tire so I tested it I also removed the spare tire to try to reduce some weight.

I don't know what's wrong with you Sarge but I'm not going to stand by you in the Foxhole tighten up you're worried about jacking up the car and taking the spare out makes absolutely no sense if you have a spirit you got a good chance of tow truck can get that spare down and jack up your car for you but if you don't have a spare you getting towed that goes from $50 to the $ 450 and although the stock Jack will work you just not putting it in the right spot but if you're worried about that keep a floor jack any cheap ass floor jack will do the job I think you better put your spare back

Also never jack up a vehicle by the leaf spring shackle because as you start jacking up and the weight comes off a leaf spring it changes shape and gets it’s curve back,, this can cause the jack to slip off… also if you Jack it up by the frame, then you have to jack and jack and jack because you have to take all the weight off the spring before the tire will ever come off the ground… so you might have to jack the frame up 10-12” or more before the wheel comes off the ground… if you jack up under the axle tube then you only have to jack it up 1” or so and the tire is off the ground.

Ok just place the jack under the rear axle tube and it is big enough to lift the tire off the ground. For the front use the I beam on the side with the flat tire…. The jack handle is plenty long enough to slide the jack underneath.

Hint, the very top section of your jack, un-screws leading out a built-in extension the jack 5 to 7 inches to extend unscrew this counter-clockwise --
not sure if you still have van, but this also works on what is called a bottle neck jack . have fun,

I had the opposite problem with my '98 Econoline with stock size wheels & tires. A front tire went flat while out shopping, and the factory bottle jack was 1 inch too TALL to fit under any of the places I wanted to place it. Jacking the frame behind the front wheel looked like it would run out of length before I got it high enough. I was lucky, got a family member to bring me a trolley jack from home.

Under the axle right below the leaf spring for rear .
Front is under the radius arm near where your front axle meets the knuckle.

I'd say get a few scrap pieces of 2x6 boards and stack them under the jack until you find a taller jack

That's a good idea, I'm sure with the right boards it will work thanks

If you have a hitch receiver a Hi lift is good to get the back up. But then you will need jack stands with you all the time. It would be cool if the picture drawer found this video

Place it under the axle not the frame. I've got a 1999 e350. And driving without a spare tire is just ASKING for a flat. Lol
