Agreed! My birth father cheated on his wife with my mom who didn't know about his double life because they met as students. He wasn't living with his family at the time. Along I came and I remember him visiting me once. My mom married my step-dad when I was 4 and he had been my dad since. I have zero ill feelings toward my birth father, but I certainly don't love him. My dad is the one who raised me and shared his heart with me and calls me his.

He’s not mad, he’s hurt. My mom and dad divorced, my mom got a new boyfriend and my dad just disappeared. I didn’t hear from him for 10 years. He finally came back around and although we’re not close, I still love him and I wouldn’t deliberately post something about it on social media as a jab at him. My dad made it pretty clear that he left because it sucked watching his family be happier with another man.
We have no idea what the situation is, so don’t be so quick to take sides. I love Goldie and Kate, but that was kind of rude of Kate and Oliver.
I have not seen my son’s children in almost 2 year! His 1 child was 4 months old before I was told about her. The mom has been angry every since that I didn’t attend a baby shower about a child I DID NOT about! My son does pay his child support but in two years he has seen his children once for 16 minutes! He has also talked to them on the phone about 5 times! She has a new baby with someone else so why can’t he see their children? 💩🤬

I was raised by a narcissist, and this is so familiar to me. He cares because they dragged him. It’s unfortunate that her real father figure came from infidelity, since her bio dad will always victimize himself for that. Cheating isn’t okay, and I can never support it. Regardless, I’m still glad she ended up with a great father figure who was there for her.
This whole thing saddens me. Their family’s trauma was never my business, and I wish they didn’t bother interviewing him.

I never knew my dad…. He never bothered to establish a relationship, never gave me words of wisdom, never was concerned to see if I was doing alright. He just recently passed away and it’s sad. I’m not sad that I miss him. He’s been non present in my life since birth. I’m just sad that he never made the effort to really be a father and dad to his kids while he was alive.

As a divorced Mom with 2 teenage boys I am all too familiar with this type if situation. As my teenage boys get older and older they understand how little time their Father makes for them, how emotionally distant he is, and how well he treats his 3rd wife and their sister. It makes me so sad
when they say at 18 I wont have to go to Dads 2 weeks a year for Dad to look the part of our Dad to his coworkers, wife, and friends on Facebook.
I am lucky to have an outstanding father, but I have seen this scenario with some of my friends. Your boys will be strong minded, mature, and excellent fathers. They know exactly how NOT to act, and it will work out very well for them in the long run. Good luck!
Kids without a present dad in their lives really suffer. Often though the mother plays mind games with the father and the man becomes so jaded that he opts out. Not saying in your case as no one knows but I do feel really sad your boys have that hole inside them. Millions do. It really messes up their lives. I had a very cold father and wasn't wanted and even though I'm an oldie sometimes I get a tear in my eye even though I totally forgave him. (He's been gone for decades). The reason it's so tragic is that sometimes we can't on occasions see God as our father even though we know He is.
My son is the most wonderful father to his liitle boy,. It's so lovely to see.

I fought and went broke 3 seperate times to insure I'd be the only father in my daughter's life, Mr. Hudson. Today she is raised by me only and is in a much better place than she was with her mother. Accountability is everything and with their reach, they wanted to not only send a message to you, but to praise the man that stepped up when you didn't fight.
I do not pity you. I think you should fight until your last breath to fix that. It's telling when you told them to take the Russell name....cop out.

The name doesn't belong to him, it's a family name...it connects her to generations of her ancestors. It's her birth name. And taking them to Disneyland doesn't mean he didn't abandon them, who knows what he did after that visit.
People can change their name any time they want, without giving a reason. You just go down to the courthouse and file some papers. You don't even have to legally change your name, just start calling yourself a new one.
The name Hudson belongs just as much to Kate and Oliver as it does this man. He wasn't the first to have the name and since Oliver has kids, none of the three will be the last either.

I've been around since Goldie & Bill Hudson were married and she is the one who did this. She had control over the children. If she wanted them to have a relationship with their father, they would have had it. It's called parental alienation and as much as I love her, she created this situation.
His relationship problems w/Kate & Oliver started soon after Goldie got together with Kurt. He didn't have a relationship w/them most of the 80's or the 90's. He didn't say their relationship fell apart in the 90's, the reporter did.
Children have eyes and their own brain. I see children alienating their grandchildren from their grandparents.
Alienation can happen with grandparents & other family members. It is the person with the power over the child who does the alienation.

I know how the father feels. My mom has been going through the same thing with my half sisters, their dad kept them from my mom and then turned around and taught them that my mom abandoned them which couldn't be further from the truth, she fought hard as he'll for them and it made her go crazy. My half sisters never have cared to get the real truth, now they bully my mom, me and my brother because they hate that my mom had us when we never asked to be born. They don't get away with bullying us but they still try. I think its important to get the facts before going off on people, too much damage happens otherwise.

Hudson always struggled to be with his kids when they where little. Goldie was successful in keeping them away, she wanted only Kirk to be in their lives. She turn the kids against him, I'm older than you, and I recall the articles written back then. I remember Hudson gave up after struggling to keep them in his life. Hudson always stayed on touch, kids chose mom's love, Kirk .

Yes...True for all the children around the world who DO NOT have all the financial resources the Hudson duo have. Imagine all the abandon kids in Foster care, Boys and Girls town, or living in homeless shelters...The kids who attend astronomical amount of schools in a year because they do not have a home. Kids sleeping in cars because their single mom/dad/or both parents cannot supply that stable shelter. Who gives them the media platform to vent? Do they get movie parts? I met the family early 90s. I worked for there his aunt grandmother. I can't remember her name she was so kind the kids were swimming in the pool. He flies a helicopter over house. Beutiful family. Sucks hearing that. Do you know country singer lady I was wondering. She had a show. Men loved her when she was young.

Those 2 kids, since they insist on acting like kids, have absolutely NO idea what it's like to be abandoned by a father. He tried for years to remain in contact with them but they never responded everything that they're doing is on them not him.

Not everything is as it seems, she should get both sides of the story and let him explain and then let it go if she truly doesn't want a relationship with him. Putting stuff on social media about how he was a bad father, what a waste of time. Obviously, it still hurts.. I raised my daughter up until the age of 16. She started doing horrible things. I can't even imagine what she put me through and then she left to go live with her father who abandoned us when he decided to be in a different relationship in a different state... pretty much told me that it was my fault that he was leaving yet. I was the one doing everything paying most of the bills. so not everything is as it seems my daughter's father refused to sign the birth certificate and now he tells her that I would not let him sign the birth certificate when clearly he knew that if he signed the Birth Certificate he would have to pay child support immediately..not everything is like people tell you. that's why it's important to hear both sides of the story.

My son's were abandoned by their father through no fault of their own. If he had wanted a relationship with his children, he just needed to stand up and show some initiative. Don't blame those kids(now parents themselves) for being hurt by HIS lack of interest in their lives. And, thank God, that they had such a great man step up and give them what their own father neglected to do. Thank you Kirk. I wish my boys had someone like you to show them what a "true" father is all about. ❤ I grew up with the "Hudson Brothers" and thought the world of them only to be truly disappointed in the kind of man Bill actually is.

However, from what I gleaned Bill Hudson was a disruptive person - on the road musician, forgetful parent, self centered adult - that Goldie stepped up and limited his access to the kids until he got his act together. He cried foul and went to the tabloids (proving her point) and it's been a poisoned well ever since.

It is not true that more money means you'll win in court. All you have to do if you're a father is show the court you want to be a custodial parent too. It sounds like Bill pretty much ignored his kids and didn't fight for them. And then after ignoring them claimed he was shut out. In reality, he shut himself out.

I held a grudge for the longest time over my dads head for amanding my brothers and I when we were kids. He married my step mom,she already had kids. My dad “wanted “ us to go live with our mom or so I thought. Now I’m older I wanted to learn the truth so I asked my aunt what really happened. She said my dad saw me crying every time after I got off the phone talking to my mom and he asked us who would you rather live with your mom or your stepmother and me. And I chose my mom because my older brother wanted to move so I did I didn’t have any memory of my mom when I was a kid. The only memory I had which was fuzzy at the time was she and I would rollerskate to I will always love you by Whitney Houston. That song always makes me cry even to this day. But I didn’t wanna hold a grudge with my dad so I actually talked to him and he talked to me and now I talk to him every so often over the phone and I’m so happy I did. Life is short no matter what happened in the past that in the past.
