Pastor John, you could also quote Romans 4. There it says that Abraham believed in God before his circumcision and was circumcised later. God specifically did that to prove to Abraham that He had accepted him. The obedience of Abraham in performing the circumcision was God saying: "I have accepted you by your faith and now I show you that by leading you to obey me."
