I have a black backwards compatable wii but I don't put gamecube discs in it due to those getting stuck in the system. That disc drive needs to be replaced.

Yo Jacob, DKoldies just made a short addressing their refurbishing practices. They said they'll now open every single console and replace capacitors and thermal paste as needed. I know you've already made a lot of videos about them, but could you do an update buying a 360 or PS3 and checking their new practices?

Great video man. Also to note, when the WiiU came out they gave the ability to transfer all data or most of it to the WiiU. Everything went to the WiiU / Wii dashboard. Great series 😂

There are probably only about 2 millions Wiis reset that way, as the Wii U did so bad and there were a ton of non-wii owners who owned a wiiu, and people who didn't realise that was a feature
One time I tricked a Normal Wii that it was a Wii U Wii Emulator and got both a Wii transfer and a Wii U Transfer
I'd say my favorite special edition is the green Halo 3 edition 360. Got one in very good condition a couple years ago for a really good deal, and I actually ended up getting everything else later. Like the box, controller, hard drive and even the headset
The gold colored chrome on those hard drives is beautiful
I always will love the gears of war xbox consoles, and the resident evil fat red 360 jasper console as well.
Sony did have a major data breach during the PS3 era. Maybe owners wanted a little extra assurance when they moved on from their consoles.
A while back I bought a pallet of broken/as is consoles from one of the goodwill centers in Georgia and they deliberately pulled all the hard drives out of the Xbox 360s and PS3s... SMH. And those two systems were 50-75% of the pallet. The PS3s wont even boot without one which made it a long drawn-out, painful process to test them all. I was pretty disappointed, especially since it wasn't disclosed. Oh well. I was definitely jealous of the ease in which you were able to turn on and test those PS3s.
Was this recently? There was a lot I was looking at from a goodwill in georgia a few months ago... actually I've seen them sell multiple large lots of consoles. That's tragic though... thanks for letting me know. I might have to stay away from those Georgia goodwills
@@jrob0021 It was a couple of months ago at the goodwill of north georgia. Apparently they did it to safeguard the peoples stored information but like.. theres no sensitive data on game systems? They weren't budging on their stance when I tried to explain it made little sense, while also devaluing the systems as a whole. On the bright side though, even though they were listed as broken, a good bit of them worked. Also after looking at the photos though, none of the OG 360s in the photos had hard drives on top.. which ultimately wasn't a coincidence. Theres another center farther down in middle GA (Macon) that I bought a pallet of misc gaming items from once and everything in that one seemed untouched. However it ended up being a LOT of accessories. Not a lot of games or consoles.. however it was just a bulk lot of gaming items without much detail of the contents so I couldn't really complain. Probably wouldn't do it again though at the price point I had to pay for it all.
before you change the hdd on the last ps3 you should copy the data and send it to the ps home revival project
Just got a wii! Excited to start retro console collecting. My dream is to make a store like DKOldies (but actually clean consoles, and have good customer service) when i get older

I just started doing some collecting this year as well, and well I don't have anything rare yet, it's fun for sure. Also I happen to have 3 Wiis for no real reason. I don't want to start a store, but I'd love if there were a store that I could maybe send people to get into collecting since it isn't super accessible right now.

YLOD doesn't necessarily mean a console is a lost cause, especially for a K-01 PS3. It does take soldering skill to do but you can connect a syscon extractor and extract all the error messages to a computer. For a lot of the PS3 systems from J-01 and onward, the YLOD actually tends to be caused from the NEC capacitors failing, probably what happened to the PS3 you tested since it actually booted up most of the way. For earlier systems like backwards compatible ones, YLOD pretty much means the GPU is dead and it'll cost a lot to get it replaced.

I purchased a fat PS3 from goodwill auction for 20 bucks. Works great, had games on it already, and a few accounts on them (which wouldn't sign in thankfully for them). I found so many messages in there, from the PS3 spam/scam messages, to the generic salty ones. And one picture of a meme about birth control from 2012
oh wow, seeing not only a working phat, but also one that was played VERY RECENTLY is very heartwarming to me, especially as someone who plays LittleBigPlanet 2 on their ps3 to this day lol
My favorite 360 is the Star Wars 360 S. Alternatively, for the other models it would be the Elite for the OG 360 and the Blue COD 360 E. The original model is cool with all the faceplates you can get but I prefer the reliability of the other models. The Star Wars 360 is cool because I believe it is the only Xbox to have a Blue LED for the power switch and the cool details of the console such as the R2-D2 noises it makes and when you open the disc tray it has a neat episode 4 reference by having text on it saying "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're my only hope." Not to mention the gold C-3PO it comes with. The Blue 360 E is just a fun oddity that I like just based on the release itself. A 360 made in the XBONE era that looks like one at a distance is so redundant it's funny, I love it.
you should put an SSD in the phat, it will make the console run faster and better, more reliable, more profit. Also about a year ago my super slim did something similar, where it froze in game, and when i went to turn it off, but it was stuck on the flashing power off green light (I call it GLOD), and i unplugged it, and when restoring filesys it would get stuck on 47%, so i had to wipe the hdd. it hasnt had a problem since so maybe it was something like that
I love seeing old beaten up consoles tested, inspected, repaired and refurbished. The nostaligia and the unknowns about each machine and then restoring them. Old profiles erased only for new ones to be created, prolonging the life of the console. I hope you get some old Atari consoles one day.
One of my favorite consoles was the special edition 360 Halo edition. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was one of the few limited edition consoles I owned until I lost it when my home flooded.
The graphics on the MW2 editions are so simple it’s beautiful. My MW2 edition has the same manufacture date as yours.

Favourite 360 is prob the Halo 3 Limited Edition in terms of that classic look but there is a ultra rare variant of the 360 which is the ODST Special Edition that came from a Twitter contest that was given out for a week and I wish they actually released it as a Limited Edition because its swweeeeettt AF
My favorite is the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition. Very hard to find in my country. But I still love my Black Elite Jasper. Just finished Bulletstorm last weekend.

Use kapton tape to secure the power buttons metal disc on the ps3 super slime. Thats what they use from factory, theirs is just cut to size
The Green and Metallic Bronze Halo 3 edition 360 is my favorite
The R2D2 Slim with the Gold C3P0 controller and the see-through Halo 4 Slim Both look really cool and I think those look the best to me personally. A close second is the MW3 Slim model, it looks really sharp and has a nice grey color on it.

I can tell you that you are the only one who made a lot of Mii’s on the Wii. I made at least 100 Mii’s on the Mii Channel
You should do a similar thing to this but with PS1 and PS2 consoles along with memory cards for them. Real interesting browsing through someone's saves from almost 20 years ago
Tip for the power button on ps3: put electrical tape and is t should be fine, thats what i did white my old ps3 when it fell and broke.

Maybe the 32gn sd card was used to play games cause most probably the wii was modded but then restored without formatting, cause when modded, it plays from burnt discs, usb and sd cards, so that's my theory, you could put the sd card in your pc and if there's games, it was a modded wii
The Xbox with the stickers on it used to be mine lmao. The under armor sticker was from my football cleats. The apple sticker was from my moms phone
Hey Jacob, seems like you’re hitting the Xbox 360 pretty lightly when trying to open a stuck disc drive. Idk if you know this already but the tray is held in by a magnet so you have to hit it fairly hard for it to disconnect and open the tray
You never know, they might have decided to do one last 24 hour marathon of Mario Kart before selling their Wii.
You can tell if a Wii has a disc in it before you turn it on. Look on the drive push the felt open a little. You will see two metal clamps that means it has a disc in it.

Jacob i think the disc drives In most of the Xbox 360 is just falcons is just a bit less valuable than the jasper since falcons ports are a more older model than the jasper model

So question about the old Wiis. Just because a game boots, doesn't mean it's entirely okay. How do you know it doesn't have that one broken update? I had that issue with mine, all of a sudden Smash Bros Melee wouldn't load, most other games worked fine to an extent but rare instances like LoZ: Twilight Princess kept hitting points where they would just no longer progress, which never happened before that update.

bruh i once found a small sd card case with 3 sd cards in it, each of them had family photos, backed up massages and a couple of dirty photos and videos in all of them, they were apparently used in phones from the t9 era

whoever had the empty 32 GB card probably had plans to buy and play tons of games, then heard about Retro gaming getting expensive and was like "so much for that idea. . ." defeated and crushed they forgot about the SD Card inside.
Or they the system within they heard they needed a PC so that Crush their dreams or they heard that they shop closed or they found out you couldn't even load save us from the SD card you can only put them on the SD for backups
I’d wager a bet that almost all of the PS3s being factory reset is because they have much more personal data on them than the 360s, instead of just games they can have games, personal photos and videos, music, movies, etc. and I don’t doubt that someone looking to sell their PS3 would wipe the hard drive
