Used hydretein this year for the first time. Imported it from US. Amazing stuff Jesus christ. I water half inch every 5 days and that is enough to keep my lawn super green! Our summer nights have 80-100% humidity so that is maybe why it helps so much and let me water barely nothing.
Our temps are 20-25c so not too hot like some of you get during summer

What tips for warm season grass?

  • @manydreams1life315

At the beginning of this summer, I signed up for Scott's program where they use your zip code and google maps (to determine the size of your application area) and then they send you the products you need at the time you need to apply them.
In general it's for different types of applications throughout the summer, ending with aerating and over-seeding in fall (early October here in Minnesota).
To me, it looks like you don't use that type of product.
This summer is the first year I'm spending more personal time and focus on the lawn after living here 24 years. We had a company spray from time to time with basic - but not dramatic - results. Using Scott's program and some mowing tips, I'm noticing more results almost from the outset.
    Cool Channel.

Never seed in the summer. Its way way too hot and dry to keep up with how wet seed needs to be. Wait until fall and then go bananas. If you dethatch now you will have to take a whole year of nursing your lawn back to health.

Besides... lawn care maintenance is not considered a reoccurring monthly/weekly requirement like food, gas etc. & if budgeted accordingly even in the worst of times it pays off in the long run. It’s really all about how much you’re willing to pay and for how long.

A fellow hand waterer - Noice! My neighbours think I'm mad watering with a hose, but I much prefer it! It's really hot where I am now... but we've just had 6 weeks of heavy rain. When watering by hand, I quickly found areas where the soil is still saturated, even though it was close to 40C (104F). With a sprinkler/irrigation system, I probably wouldn't spot that until puddles appear... unless you're watching the process, but then you might as well just water by hand anyway lol.
...I would love the convenience of an irrigation system that I can just chuck on for 30mins though - Contradicting myself massively 😆

Ironite is completely fine during summer. I mixed two bags in with limestone for my backyard this season and had no problems. Doesn’t have high elements of nitrogen. You want to just keep the nitrogen level as low as possible during summer as it could burn your lawn. Any fertilizer with high potassium is always great for summer, but always do a soil test to see what your levels are looking like.
