Sitting on 329920 ,mileage on mine and still took me on a 2000 mile trip with no issues to adventure around the north rim of the grand canyon. As much as i want to say i know my truck i still find i learn things from your videos so keep up the good work. Nice to see someone not crapping on the 2nd gens.
Yes! We're about the same miles, and I drive mine on trips all over the west. Might be taking it across the Midwest and east coming up this year. Your example is why they shouldn't be crapped on. But it keeps prices lower haha. But that's even changing. Sage travels and I'm so glad you find the videos helpful!
Love these old rigs I wish I had the time to clean my engine bay and under carriage like yours it would make finding new problems that much easier always love your videos you’re one of my top Toyota RUclips guys

The undercarriage, mostly all I do is some degreaser once in a while and one of those self car washes with the pressure sprayer and hose it off good under there. Great video, keep ‘em coming, love these old trucks. The 3vze gets a bad rap, just do the maintenance and it’ll run a long time trouble free. My first one ran for 200k miles and still going strong before I sold it. 😊
@@AgileWoodsman ugh unfortunately it had rust issues I'd rather not deal with. There's another one down the road that owner says has injector issues so.....
@@AgileWoodsman agreed. Guy asking 1700 for a 1995 with the supposed injector issues. Anything I should look for to try and narrow it down to the injectors?? Thanks
@@ruiz212 That's a tough one. Usually we use testers for injectors. Is it running at all? If its running and everything else chacks out, it might be worth the risk. Depends how mechanically inclined you are and how much of a project you want. But in my experience always assume there will be more to it honestly.
Wow i learned alot watching your videos please keep doing more videos on your 4runner i watched all 20 min thats how interested it was to me mines not a 4x4 but i love my truck its cool i guess im getting old lol
Another great video!! Can definitely tell you love your Toy and take good care of her definitely a sweet truck. Well Rats have chewed up wires and a lot of stuff had to take Upper intake off fix wires and hoses vacuum lines on passenger side all ate off hangin havin a time figurin them out cleaned throttle body but couple of vacuum ports clogged completely got one cleaned still workin on the other one but Makin progress. What's number of factory oil filter? Sweet motorcicles also. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy

Thanks for the great and honest content. I have a 93' Toyota Pickup 3.0 with 390K. I notice that you removed the fan shroud. Do you think it is unnecessary or does it work fine without it. I'm changing my timing belt and water pump now and really struggled getting the fan off with the shroud in the way. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated
It's always good to keep it. Mine will be going back in. Mine broke so I had to find another one. But yeah, it adds another step unfortunately. Thats awesome you have so many miles and she's still up and running!
@@AgileWoodsman Thanks for the information. I struggled to get mine back on because I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and put on a OEM style radiator by CSF. But the holes on the new radiator didn't line up with the old shroud and rather than try to modify it, i tried to force it and 30 year old plastic just isn't all that flexible and it broke all to pieces. Live and learn. I'll order a new one and try to get it on soon. My dad bought the truck new in 1992, and he passed away in 2016 so I inherited it. I plan to keep it forever. Super reliable, never let me down yet as a daily driver, you just have to stay on top of maintenance like you say and like my dad did and they'll literally run forever. Thanks for all your great content and looking forward to more of your tips and tricks on the ins and outs of maintaining it.

Thank you for the content. Good to see you behind the camera again. I’ve learned a lot about vehicles because of my 94. It has given me a reason to start working on vehicles! I look forward to seeing some of your maintenance videos, the bushings on my control arms have gone bad and I really don’t want to pay a shop to fix them. Got a quote for OEM bushings and that’s around 500 bucks, but I’m not sure I could press out the old bushings and press in the new ones. Especially the upper control arm because it has the crossbar going through it. Any advice? Oh man yeah, sorry for the delay. 100% look for new control arms with all the bushings and such already loaded in. Then you just pop those in. So much easier. And way cheaper than the price you have here. Maybe a hundred a peace? Just do a search you'll find em easy.
WAS SURPRISED YOU DIDN'T MENTION THAT DOES NOT TAKE POWER STEERING FLUID, YOU JUST SAID TO CHECK IT. SOMEONE PUT POWER STEERING FLUID IN MY 4RUNNER AND IT BLEW OUT THE PUMP AND HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE POWER STEERING PARTS SO CHECK THE MANUAL, IT DOES NOT USE REGULAR POWER STEERING FLUID.
I run Rotella 15 40 1 cuz I can 2 cuz its best for HARSH running ! Along with a REMOTE FILTER for a Ford F 250 460 gas engine Filter NAPA GOLD 1515 way larger than factory! Am putting in new CVs along with a ECGS Bushing ! New lower Ball joints new rear sway arm connects ! If you still have the factory Radiator KEEP IT send it to get redone do NOT THROW IT OUT they do not MAKE THESE ANY LONGER period ! Do not put a cheap assed plastic rad in place YOU WILL OVERHEAT ! run ATF in the power steering NOT POWER STEERING FLUID ATF ONLY
My rad shop got me the 3 core oem style. Yes, trans fluid in the steering, correct sir! That oil weight is too heavy and I don't suggest it. Highly discourage it for anyone. If you think you need it, knock yourself out! Clever remote filter solution! Never heard that one.

I just spent 3 hours doing mine raised it with a forklift and got after it 2nd Gen 4runner
How many times have I forgotten to not open the brake fluid cap when unnecessary!🤦it's always good to be reminded!

There’s a lady on RUclips called “Girlie Garage” that has a really good video on changing out the timing belt and water pump on the 3.0.

@@ruiz212 Yes rust is a no go, I agree. Mechanical stuff can be fixed, and is a good reason to get something cheap if you're into fixer ups.

I did a 2in lift, on my 1994. How can I get the proper alignment without getting my tires worn out quick.
Maybe an offroad shop local to you can tell you where to go.

do i have to disconnect the battery terminals to clean the corrosion? Can I just scrub all the green acide dust with a brush?
Best to disconnect them and clean. But even cleaning that dust with a brush and some baking soda to negate the battery acid is a good thing to do!
How does it preform with no cooling fan shroud?
It's been good. But now that I have working air conditioner, it raises temps more so I need to put mine on.
