0:34 Yes it was, but by MAN. There was another one made by Daimler-Benz called the VK 30.02 (D) that looks like if a Panther turret was placed onto a T-34 hull but the Christie suspension was replaced with Torsion Bar & inter-locking road wheels.
Fun fact: Although the VK 30.02 (M) is the official prototype of the Panther, it is not the original. The original, called VK 30.02 (DB) by Daimler-Benz was developed directly from the T-34 and in its original design it was supposed to look much more like it but the idea was discarded in favor of the Henschel design that won the competition in 1942 for series production.
I wouldn't say not original but rather not the only one. Would be cool to see the the Daimler prototype as an event vehicle though ... one prototype vehicle was produced, it is a unique one TBH
Great video, DOLLARplays! It's really impressive how detailed and informative your presentation of the different Panther models in War Thunder is. The colorized footage makes it even more exciting to see the differences and details. I'm already looking forward to the second part and am curious about which vehicles you'll be showcasing next. Keep up the good work! 👍
Panthers are such fun tanks to play. Except for D model traverse speed, paper thin side armor and abominable reverse speed... Some great edits in this.
I winced every time he instinctively angled that paper thin side armour lmao (unironically a sherman 76mm can get through that at like 50-60 degrees if youre unlucky)
I'm a new player from World of Tanks and I tell you, the instinct to angle is so hard to overcome. These baby panthers (thats what I call 'em) are a chore to work through.

Panther D and VK30.02(M) have the same turret rotation, you just were comparing a stock crew vs an expert crew on the panther D which affect the rotation speed too
I still remember when I got the Panther D and A for the first time. I was shocked at how slow the turret felt but I loved the tank. I didn't play any other panther the whole grind. Now that I've gone back and replayed stuff I didn't try, I still feel I made the right choice.
Dollar, you forgot to mention the faster reload on the Panther F :v Its reload is 0.9 seconds faster, which can really be felt when engaging more targets or having to shoot a tank more times.
But no MG on top of the turret(( I like the F version because of turret armor and faster reload, but i really want MG on the top of it. I used to shoot planes with it
@@dean5380 I mean, I don't deny that turret MG, despite being a 30 cal, can still be pretty viable at destroying planes, tho I wouldn't consider much the difference, because it's useless against tanks unlike a 50 cal that can atleast track.
Some of the bounce shots in the war thunder defy logic and physics. I had a shot bounce off the front, hit the barrel, and then go back inside, killing the T34 tank.

The first factory-produced version of the Panther tank was the Panther Ausf. D. Although it is often mistakenly believed that the "A" version was the first, it was actually the Ausf. D that entered production first, in early 1943. It's important to note that the sequence of letters in the Panther's version designations did not reflect the order of production. As a result, the first version was Ausf. D, followed later by Ausf. A and Ausf. G. The Panther Ausf. D tank had both manual and electric turret rotation mechanisms. Manual rotation: In case of an electric system failure or for precise turret adjustments, the crew could manually rotate the turret using a hand crank. Electric rotation: The turret was powered by an electric motor, allowing for faster and more efficient rotation. The electric drive used power supplied by the tank's main engine. However, the turret's rotation speed depended on the engine's RPM; the higher the engine speed, the faster the turret could turn.
All panthers use a hydraulic traverse, the VK 30.02 (M) and Ausf D both use the same single speed system that maxed out at 6°/sec. The improved turret drive with a second gear that took power directly from the engine RPM was introduced with the Ausf A
Mate (if i can call you this way) I'm doing a maraton of your videos and your voice sounds like a friend of mine... anyway, we are all waiting for Tiger version ;)
Its one of the most goofy tanks I have ever played. For some reason I tanked and bounced shots that I had absolutely no right to. Also to me its the most uptier resistant tank in the game, absolutely anything you might face with it, meaning any tank up to 6.0, can be oneshot on basically any distance. Sure its a pain in the ass with that turret rotation and reverse speed, but since 9 out of 10 games are uptiers, the firepower just makes up for it. I do however feel like its one of the worst tanks in a downtier.
6:32 All panthers without an Electric drive turret use a hand-crank mechanism, keeping both at 5.1°/s with a decent but inexpert crew. Both tanks increase from 5.1°/s Full crew (Untrained with ability points) to 5.6 with expert crew, to 6.0 aced, with this being doubled in arcade by 2.2x.
All Panthers have an electrically controlled hydraulic turret drive, the VK 30.02 (M) and Ausf D both have the early type with a single gear, the Ausf A and G have a second gear tied to the engine RPM IRL and the Ausf F has a totally new hydraulic drive independent of engine RPM. The Panther II has the same drive as the Ausf F by merit of it having the wrong turret however they have different traverse speeds for some bizarre reason, the 12°/sec speed should be the same for both Ausf F and Panther II.
You're a legend man, a fregin legend:D Love u and have a nice day, really interesting to use all the Panthers, I hope Gaijin has mercy so I can get the Flak 341 like the Maus.
