Try shooting at lower part of box on the barrel, it sloped just right way to send fragments and bounces down and below it is only 10mm grill engine cover. Rest of that top part is 20mm, so with bigger HE (above 2-3kg of TNT, I think) you can just shoot vertical part of 225mm plate, fragments will still go to the engine and, sometimes, if you hit just right spot overpressure magic can happen.

Unfortunately, IS-7 is one of the many awesome vehicles I will never experience. Gaijin needs to figure out a way to earn old event vehicles if you missed them and old removed vehicles. I missed the Tiger II 105 and Panther II by like a few months and I never could grind event vehicles since I was in the military. Now I'm out but I missed so many vehicles. Please please let me get Tog II!
I was also still in the military during the time the KT 105, Pant 2, Maus and Colien was going to be patched out. Managed to drop like 100 rp on each before that happened, so they stayed in my tech tree, but not fully researched. I do wish the Sublinde would come back, too. No way it should be $1k+ alongside the IS-7 and E-100.
Some quick math later, with a chance of 0.001%, it would take 2,083 straight days to earn enough SL to make that 0.001% chance 100%, roughly 5 billion SL. This is only with 25k SL earned in 15-minute matches. Luv U Gaijin :)
Protip if a light vehicle is hiding behind a corner. With big cannon he shells like the is 7, more often than not lightly armorder targets like aml or r3 etc, can be killed by shooting the HE shell on the ground besides the tank. Technucally you can kill them around the corner

Man am I glad that I managed to build the IS-7 and Object 279 during the events. Seeing how difficult it is to get them for newer players makes me appreciate those two tanks even more. 😅
I’ve learned that you can control the back machine guns. You just need a key one to change primary weapons and click it a few times. I use this key bind to be more accurate with top mounted 50 cals as well. Very efficient :)
Classic, after a battle where you were a hero comes a battle where you can't penetrate anything, all the damage goes to the machine gun or observation devices
WT is like the best game to tell people why gambling is bad. People gave SL they grinded hard for crates and come back with nothing, and luckily no real-life money is at stake most of the time. Hopefully they learn this and does not use real-life money to gamble.
if we go off of the 0.001% chance of getting this and just say you get it on your last crate it would take 6'000'000'000 sl to open enough crates to get it. assuming you are a good player and make an average of 40'000 sl per match it would take you 150'000 matches to earn that much sl. which would take around 1'800'000 minutes, or 30'000 hours, assuming your average match lasts 12 minutes. so in perfect conditions it would take you around 30'000 hours to get your hands on the IS-7... it would probably be way more for most players...

idk if i did the math right but to earn the is-7, player would need about: 6 000 000 000 (six billion) silver lions with the average earnings per match being 30k to 50k SL that would be 120 000 to 200 000 matches which is 2.4 million to 4 million minutes or 1666.7 days to 2778 days worth of gameplay OR 4.5 years to 7.6 years worth of gameplay this is without premium, boosters, orders and wagers, otherwise it would be less time
It couldn't take you one week to get IS-7. You had to get the blueprint first (like an 8 star marathon) and then assemble it like an assembly marathon. Good news is that you could get the Pak Puma on the way

I've spent around 8mil of SLs yesterday (out of my 88mil total) just to see if i could had anything. Aside a decent number of backups (which i burned a lot playing at top tier before the last break) i won a low tier premium plane (the Martel for the British, iirc). Maybe it's nothing for many, but in all of the gambling events they ran in these years, it's the first decent reward i had. But for real, these things are not worth the costs...neither in virtual currency.
