  • In this video, I review the stunning looking Volvo XC90. This one is with the R-design package which even enhances the SUV even more. The XC90 is also equipped with Pilot Assist which allows semi-autonomous driving, very cool!

    Good review. We own a 2018 in Inscription and love it. Compared to our previous 2016 Lincoln Navigator this is much better. Chose the Volvo over the 2018 Navigator. Saved nearly $20,000 by getting Volvo. Sure the Lincoln is larger but so far we have no regrets.

      Thanks. Yes Volvo XC90 is a fabulous suv and can be had for much less than some of its rivals.

      Have you had any problems with the infotainment system freezing up or being slow to respond. I absolutely love these vehicles and it’s on my radar I’ve just been scared of everyone saying bad things about the infotainment system. Just wondered if it was some bugs that needed to be worked out and people were just complaining about the first model and maybe the bugs have been worked out

      @@jaclynmoylan1905 Short answer yes. Had a 2018 XC90 Inscription T6 and loved everything but some weird things that happened. It all had to with the Sensus or "infotainment system". I may be wrong in stating but just about everything goes through the system. Think of it as the main computer for your car. Apple Car Play started acting up, blind spot information, active headlights, and back up camera was intermittently working. I would take it back to the dealer and they said it needed a software fix. Each time it was fixed for a very short period of time. It did not affect the performance or driving characteristics of the car but it should have been corrected permanently. I was very patient since we really thought this was the best vehicle we have ever owned. On the fifth occasion our local dealership kept our XC90 for over two weeks even communicating with Volvo engineers in Sweden. I know this because I was on the email chain and answered their questions as when and what we could remember why these issues kept reoccurring. Each time the dealership only reinstalled the software and never replaced the Sensus head unit. I believe if they did that would have solved the problems. Mechanical and not software related. Picked up our vehicle on a Friday and drove out of town the next day on a short trip. Returning home late at night the issues started again. I noticed the right side mirror no longer indicated a vehicle and displayed the warning light in the mirror. It was sporadic. I videoed and called Volvo customer service and said they will buy back my car ASAP. I called local dealership and spoke with service manager and told him to contact his Volvo rep and tell him to buy my Volvo back ASAP. By 4pm that Monday after the calls the service manager called me to tell my that Volvo will take of me. I did not have to start the investigation of the Lemon Law in Texas. I gave Volvo one last chance to make it right. They did. We wanted the exact same model but settled with a 2019 with everything available. We love the new Volvo more that our first one. I could have purchased another car from another manufacturer but I did not. Volvo builds great products and this fits our needs. I would not put all the blame on Volvo. I would still buy another Volvo.

    Why does nearly every Volvo XC90 reviewer misidentify the auto brake-hold button as the engine auto stop/start button (at the 13:00 videomark)? The auto stop/start feature is located on the vehicle function page in the infotainment system. C'mon, man🤨🤨

    Thanks for the review. This review convinced me to not get this thing. I really dislike my S90 T6 Inscription. The dealer contacted me today to see if I wanted to get out of my lease early to get the XC90. Nope! I'll wait to get into something legitimately nice with some serious thought put into the infotainment.

    • @DriversOnly
      @DriversOnly  5 лет назад

      Don't think that was my intent. What don't you like about the infotainment?

    • @221ddj
      @221ddj 5 лет назад

      @@DriversOnly Oh, I know that wasn't your intent. I currently have the S90 and I know how limited the infotainment is. Based on your review, they haven't updated it since I got mine. The fact that the HVAC, seat heating/cooling is controlled through the infotainment is a problem...it's really slow at start up. An issue I minimized at the beginning, but quickly learned to hate after a few months of lag.
      Also, for the price tag, it's not as intuitive as the class competitors at all. I had a Hyundai Genesis (G80 now) before it...that car was packed with features that made sense and actually worked. I never had reliability issues with that car, never had issues with my Infiniti or the Lexus I had...My wife had an S40, it was crap, always messing up or in the shop. I got the S90 (primarily for looks)...it's currently crap. I can only imagine the XC90 follows the same pattern.
      Volvo makes beautiful, unreliable cars.

      This is AWD. On the T5s, there is available FWD.

    • @ivanlowjones

      T5's are FWD only, T6's AWD only, T8's have FWD with a separate rear axle motor for the back wheels.

      You're correct. The 2016-2017 T5's were FWD only as I recall with those round skinny exhaust pipes. I'm curious why you didn't get the T6 R-Design instead of buying the 250hp T5 with no cajones under the hood. My T6 R-Design has the Polestar upgrade and runs like a champ.
