@@NicoGolf. You're being narrow minded, if your goal is to cheat and get crazy amounts of spin I'm sure you could do that. Tour pros get new wedges whenever they want, last time I bought wedges mine weren't even bad and I gained 1000 rpm. I watched rick sheils use this and he only gained 600 rpm, so new conforming wedges are still better.
I use the blue oxiclean foam spray that turns white. Its sucks up all the dirt from the grooves, then I hit it with a brush and it gets my irons looking new without scratching them.
All these tour pros in the comment section talking about “now your clubs are illegal.” Man, nobody is checking to see if your clubs are conforming or not when you’re playing a round on a Saturday morning at your local $35 per round of golf. Stop worrying about stuff and get out and hit the ball.
This idiot in the comment section talking about everyone's comments about clubs being illegal. Man, nobody cares what your opinion is when you play $35 rounds at your local course. Stop worrying about what others type about stuff and get out and hit the ball.
Couldn’t the same exact argument be made to just… leave it alone? I empathize with someone who is absolutely restrained from buying something new or used and going for this option. Personally, I love knowing JUST how much more I suck than pros! 😂 makes those shots that keep us all coming back that more special. That’s just my opinion on the matter with regards to myself (high 25-27 handicap, coming into my second and a half year of play) If I’m in your group, and that’s your style… hell yeah. Let’s have fun out here!
I use soap, water, and the MSR stove cleaning brush. Best brush I ever found, cleans the grooves with a very tough, stiff plastic filaments. Has a built-in plastic scraper to get rid of any dried mud, grass, etc. All for $6 or $7.
Good demo but I prefer to clean them as I go. Every hit that leaves residual on the clubface and I use the tiny pocket brush. My clubs look great and the shorter clubs give great ball interaction on every shot. I often see clubs that are so thick with grime that they're almost smooth. Not great for ball spin! Cheers - Dave
They aren’t necessarily illegal, but by the rules of golf since material has been removed the club has been altered, so it’s legal standing is undetermined. The only way to truly determine whether or not it is still conforming is to send it to the USGA or R&A for inspection. That being said, does anybody really care? I know I don’t. I am a 14 handicap that plays recreational golf, golf leagues, etc. so if a few shavings have been removed from my wedge grooves that’s OK.
I love it when people say " illegal for tournament play". Pros get new wedges every couple of weeks - amateurs don't have sponsorship and are up against other players with new wedges Why would / should it be illegal to resharpen the grooves on a wedge ? It's not like you would do that to any other clubs.
Warning, I bought this tool and used it on my wedges. Works greats, produces crazy spin. But after 1 solid shot your ball is trashed 😂 shreds golf ball covers instantly. But if you got the balls to rotate so be it 🤷♂️
If you sharpen your grooves and they are noticed while playing in a tournament you can be disqualified. If you don’t play tournaments then by all means do what you want with your irons. Sharpening the grooves will give you crazy amounts of spin which is fun to have if playing with your buds but you will go through golf balls like crazy as they will tear the covers from having sharp edges.
But no one talking about the music. I have the radio on in the background of my videos, barely perceptible, and it’ll get flagged every time. And I have under 100 subs.
Yes if you have a shitty set, but don't do this to your good clubs. They will technically be non conforming, and it's not quest l worth it when soap, water and a brush does the same thing.
Man I’ve been using a bucket, and dish brush for bottles, and dish soap for 30 years and comes out clean and probably in half the time it takes to do one club for you.
@@GolfersAuthority Why would I want to sharpen them? That’ll tear the 💩 out of golf balls! That’s a truly dip💩 idea! Sharpening your groves is altering the club and ILLEGAL in competition! I'd rather use a legal club and hit shots I can be truly proud of than hit a hole in one with some juiced up club that unfairly masks my skill level. While you're at it, why don't you buy the Polara balls that only fly straight...
I just use soap water and a club brush. It looks clean and isn’t illegal
love it! yeah it is risky to use a groove sharpener
Illegal for what? Lmao you on tour?

lol so funny and so true!
So true! and I wish I could play a weekend round for $35 in my area! Lol

It's a great way to remove your clubs surface coating finish to expose the grooves to water and dirt and create rust. Maybe a brush and toothpick?
Warm water and soap with a good detail brush and a dry rag. Like new every time.
And in half the time he can do 1 iron! 🤣🤣🤣
Golf with a soaking wet towel, wipe the club before or after every shot.
Dish soap, hot water and a club brush.. Clean as a whistle.

Is that thing sharp enough to cut new grooves? How then, does the painter’s tape protect the face?
I question if this tool, used with just human hand strength, could sharpen the grooves of a steel club head.
It's not cleaning. it's recutting your grooves, but we need all the help we can get. I just did my my buddies wedges. What a difference
Clean with a groove tool every few months water and a brush once a week or so depending on how much I game then club doctor polish after and your g2g
I use a brush after every shot, anything on the face makes a difference, it also can wear your club because sand/dirt is obviously just little rocks
Mine still look brand new, I brush them every single time I use them while on the course.
Good man
Then you’re not hitting the ball hard enough 🤣
isn't that suppose to "re-sharpen" the grooves?
Hawk Tua plus brush n towel

looks like Groove X needs some kind of a sylicone handle
Use a 4 penny finishing nail.
Was the tape useful in keeping it between the lines? 😂
lol, no i didnt want to scratch the shit out of the face :)
Aaand now they are illegal
Lolz, hopefully not. Have you ever used a groove sharpener ?
U shouldn't press as hard bro Ur going to mess the grooves up and make the club illegal
Be gentle land gently run it in the channel don't press and if you see metal material STOP your pressing too hard !!!
Who’s checking?

I use a Dremel with a thin cut off blade.
How about a toothbrush and warm water?
Not a chance I'm taking to my Miuras with that thing.
Ooooh nice what kind of Miuras?

I doubt anyone would notice anyway, imagine someone coming up with a magnifying and digital calipers checking your grooves during a round, lol
i could use a tee and get the same result xD
these sharpen the grooves not clean them, it makes the club illegal if that bothers you
I imagine scraping out the grooves in that fashion made an excruciatingly painful noise. And for that reason, I’m out.

Just get a set of ping eye 2
I play those clubs now, they are weaker lofted but when I hit them pure they're piss missiles off the face.

Its a groove sharpener not a " cleaner " LOL The internet man...

By illegal for tournament play do you mean not legal to use while on the course or not legal to have resharpened grooves in general?

A nail brush and water works perfectly. 🤷😂🤣
I just use soap and water, and a tee for the grooves😂
is it just me or do they look identical
Soap and water and some elbow grease and you get it done for free no tools needed just the tools buying this thing
Yeah he's a removing metal shavings

That’s not cleaning, it’s gouging
Or a tee
Wreck your irons the easy way....
Use an old toothbrush in the sink. Even better 😮
Smart! Probably cheaper too
Or you can just use a tee
Should’ve applied some wd-40 first
Ooh great point i will do that next time

What was the point of putting tape on it?
It will minimize damage to those areas if the tool slips out of a groove.

Too bad the grooves are shiny as fuck and you'll be blind after 18 holes
What's the point of the tape? This is stupid.
Better be carful if you join any tournaments and you create a ton of spin. They will hold on to your clubs for investigation
