Why the hell isn't this band better known and better respected and appreciated. Even the crowd at this gig seem to have no idea just how good this. Any thoughts on WHY Monster Magnet are so under appreciated?
No idea but I feel the same way as you. These guys should have been as big as the Smashing pumpkins and the Offspring in the mid 90s. And unlike those other 2 bands Monster Magnet are still fantastic.
Space rock is so good. I saw them at Toads place in New Haven, CT back when this was their latest album. Monster Magnet used an overhead transparency projector and pyrex baking dish filled with different colors for their psychedelic light shows. It was a fun time. They were great live.
Seeing as how I've always stood four square in favor of comic books and affordable guitars, a man in a Red Skull t-shirt playing an Epiphone SG is my kinda guy. Rock on, Dave
Got to hand it to Dave, he has put together a pretty good Monster Magnet cover band. They sound great but it is too bad it is missing the original guys (I consider Ed Mundel an original member).

Amazingly perfect and clean for a live performance. Even better than the album version back from 1993.
Do this test: Compare this live with the original album version. I fail to find any loss in Dave's voice in all those years...It's pretty immaculate!
If they employed the same sound engineers on the road to replicate the stereo delay effects... they may have had live success

The guitars are way too low. This music needs GUITARS IN THE MIX
