I saved this video 3 years ago to learn my first ever solo - I couldn't believe how fast you could play it! I've come back 3 years later and I can play along at full speed! It's now my go-to warm up solo. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Ive only been playing guitar for a year. i first learned this solo from this video about 6 months ago. it was this lesson which opened my eyes to soloing on the guitar and how it worked in real music. the attention to detail is really, really hope for beginners. I got so much from this lesson, most of all it gave my inspiration to learn more. thank you Paul.
Dear Mr. Crame: 1) This is one of my favorite solos. 2) I have been struggling for the last month to crack this solo. 3) After watching this video just a few times, I can finally play it flawlessly. Thank you so much for posting this video! You absolutely nailed it, and I'm so happy now to finally be able to play this. The tabs and other videos out there weren't helping much - this was very well done and easy to follow. I will definitely keep an eye out for any videos you make from now on. Thank you!
Thanks for the upload been wanting to play this for years never thought I could I have sat and methodically written down every tab in the video and hope to play it at full speed thanks for your time and effort.
Amazing, man! Thank you so much, you saved me. Tomorrow I will have a first rehearsal and as lead guitarist I needed to learn the solo of this song and thanks to you I nail it :D
I love you man! no homo, I wanted to nail this song for so long but the tabs I found just didn't seem right, the way you play it is spot on, I've tabbed it all out so I didnt have to rewind the video all the time. Thanks a lot sir!
Thanks!. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. I will definitely add some OCS to my list. I remember buying the Marchin' Already Tab book just after the album had come out!
Great tutorial Paul! I've tried lots of different tabs on this solo all slightly different but this one is great. Keep up the good work! Just go to nail it myself now the old fingers dont move as quickly as i want them to.... lol
just a note ive often played this on an acoustic with typical 14 frets to body by starting on g string at the7th fret. gets a little akward unless youve got a cutaway
Thanks for the great lesson you have a great ear and can tell the notes better than all the online tabs I have seen. I've learned all of it through but I have one question, how can I get more vibrato on the 17's, I have trouble moving my finger up and down smoothly, and can't really figure out which part of the bend I should play the note on. Is my ring finger best for this?
I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson. Yes use your ring finger. When I'm doing the vibrato on the 17s I play the note then add the vibrato. Maybe I will do a Video on vibrato at some point because it is one of those difficult techniques that people struggle with.
+daniele1254 I'm glad you have enjoyed it. Will probably do Champagne Supernova at some point. But I do have a few more songs to do before I get there!
For pull offs any song that has pull offs to open strings. Like maybe Sweet Home Alabama. It sounds great has loads of hammers and pull offs but isn't too complicated.
Hi I'm wondering if you know why my practicing might bot sound right. Everything up to the point of where it starts going backwards sounds correct, however when I play it backwards it sound like theres a missing note, 3ven though I am following correctly. Is it possible that I'm playing it through too fast?
It's hard to say with out hearing you. But if you mean the faster bit starting 17 on the B you could try slowing it down and counting through it should 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 for that first lick. i.e 10 notes. It is quite common to do the pull offs too fast so that may be a problem. They are the same speed as the picked notes for for example the first part 17p15 would be played on the 1 e of the barre and the next to notes 16 on the G and 15 on the B are played on the + a of the first beat so they are all the same length notes. I hope this helps and makes sense!
I'm sorry I can't remember what settings I was using. I would keep Bass, Treble and Mids pretty near the middle i.e 5 or 6. Gain similar maybe a touch of reverb 2 or 3 and go from there!
Isn't the very last lick different from the one when he plays it? In the tutorial its ending on 12 fret G string but when he plays it he ends it on the D string.
It's really slow and wasting time explaining techniques and theory rather than going straight to teach the solo...21 minutes are really a very long time to teach that solo...make it way shorter man

That's awesome! I'm glad the video helped.

That's awesome! It's the best thing as a teacher to really help someone enjoy playing as much as I do.

Great idea! first band i ever saw on that album tour and you don't see many lessons from that album either
Please do a lesson for Slide Away and Dont look back in anger. Your lesson for Live Forever is awesome, thank you so much
+Mark Allwood I will do my best to have a look at these.
Thank you Paul

Nice tutorial! Looks most similar to how noel played it live compared to some other sources
Thanks I'll hopefully has some more solos up soon!
Really great.....just struggling with timing on run down from 17 to 12...will keep practicing . Cheers.
I'm glad you are finding it useful. Sadly practice is the only solution!
Brilliant. Thank you. Stay safe and take care!
Thanks, you too!

+nick williams Yup Awesome! Good tip!
You had me at vicariously.
Nice!
I started messing about on guitar when i was 16 I can play this perfectly apart from that backwards tricky bit, I'm 34 now and I give up lol
That is a tricky bit! But don't give up you are still young. Well I like to think so as we are the same age!
@Ronnie McColl post a video of you doing it.
@Ronnie McColl wtf u gotta be so toxic for ?
You're very nice, thanks for tutorial!
Cheers!
Great channel i just subscribed!
Thanks I really appreciate it! I hope you continue to find the videos useful.

Is this the original format in which noel played?
I think it's pretty close but he might have played the couple stops at 7 on the D and G at 12 on the A and D.
@@cramoguitar nice🤘
Better than the original!!!! ☺
;) Thanks!
10:58 play last note with 2nd finger
TOP!! Thank You! this is a nice tutorial!....champagne supernova? it's possible? hi
+daniele1254 I'm glad you have enjoyed it. Will probably do Champagne Supernova at some point. But I do have a few more songs to do before I get there!
+Paul Crame oh realy realy! i am here to wait that moment! :-)thank you so much and compliments! Hi Paul
espere mucho por un buen tutorial de este gran sólo :)
+sebastian bravo vargas Gracias!
+Paul Crame i subscribe ;)
I've been trying to learn the solo to Hey Jo and suprisingly there are some very similar things about this solo.... Just played differently.....
Michael Caton it’s similar to the George Harrison “something” solo as well
Top Man!!! Thank You!
+supremepwr Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Explains hammer on for a minute... Breezes by pull offs! XD seriously though, great video thank you.
Did I sorry! I'm glad the video was useful! It is a great solo to play.
I just suck at pull offs!
yes they are more difficult. My main tip is to pull slightly down as you pull off to try and increase the volume of the pull off.
Cheers! Any good tabs out there you would recommend?
For pull offs any song that has pull offs to open strings. Like maybe Sweet Home Alabama. It sounds great has loads of hammers and pull offs but isn't too complicated.
Class tutorial, took me on a journey this 😂
Thanks!

Could you tell me what numbers you used the amp knobs on? I'm new to this and I don't understand:(

Isn't the very last lick different from the one when he plays it? In the tutorial its ending on 12 fret G string but when he plays it he ends it on the D string.
Ahhh you spotted my deliberate mistake! ;)! The lesson is right the cover is wrong but it sounds cool ending on the E note!
Great effort in any case, thanks a lot for this :)
20:58 here we go
Wow my fingers really hate that fast lick 😂😭
It is a good one. Make sure you get the picking on point ti get the speed up!
Yeah, one of my bad habits is down picking every note in a solo - need to break it!
That's very common. This is actually a great lick to practice alternate picking with.@@TheBiologyking
How you gonna make any guitar tutorial video without playing it all at the beginning
Sorry. I put it in a separate video. But now I do the play through at the start. I learnt from my mistakes.
Overthinking it lad
💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤
I nearly drowned in the bath
Melvyn Reeves shame your guitar wasn't plugged in at the same time kidda.
TEACH CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL!!!!!
I have!
Sum it up.......your killing me. WTF lay off the meds
faster next time..for I will not live forever...pieces are broken down in too small bits..context is lost.
That is definitely something I have tried to do in my subsequent videos. Although not always successfully as I have a tendency to waffle on a bit!
Demo it, then break it down.
It's really slow and wasting time explaining techniques and theory rather than going straight to teach the solo...21 minutes are really a very long time to teach that solo...make it way shorter man
Thanasis Panagopoulos calm down mate he's only trying to explain...it worked for me Thankyou Paul!
just be patient he's just making it accessible to everyone, 21 minutes is really not so so long man
Thanasis Panagopoulos you didn't have to watch it
douch bag
i think he's cool....
Too much talking....
Fair!
Holy Christ man! Just stop over explaining everything and show us the damn notes. Zzzz Zzzz
there’s ones that don’t have that. the title says in depth
Nice been looking for a decent lesson on this thank you great channel as well
Cheers. I'm glad you are enjoying the vids!
