Thank you for posting this! This was such an extremely difficult project and I was so enraged watching all the Home Depot actors pretend it was so simple. Thanks for being real! Could only get one of four up but I don't have the patience to try anymore tonight!
I know about the HD actors. I went into the store and they had a model set up. The attendant showed it to me, and it STILL was not the correct information, or explained correctly. Oh well, eventually done.
Hi Leanne- What a great video!! My wife and I worked for two hours watching other on-line videos about how simple the blind installation is! You called it out, the Installation instructions are terrible, and we've installed many blinds before. You found the Secret! You have to grip the head rail with your thumb and forefinger, and push BACK TO THE CLIP, THEN DOWN! Our instructons for the same set of blinds from Home Depot said to push UP???? The fact you received so many Thank You's says it all. I hope Home Depot is listening!!
Thank you Leanne! All the other online help just griped about how awful the included instructions were (they are!) and how impossible it is to snap the blinds into place (they are, without your invaluable advice about 1) facing them the correct way (included instructions are silent on this) and 2) unfurling a bit of the blind so you have some operating room. Thank you for sticking with it and sharing with the world!
Much love and appreciation for the video and your struggle. Obviously I’m on here because I couldn’t figure it myself. And I’m 30 yo with much handyman experience. This blind is truly a force to be reckoned with! lol
After a major struggle like you, we realized THERE IS A FRONT VS BACK OF THE BLINDS, very subtle difference that makes such a big difference with installation. The back top has a little bit of a straight edge, and the front top is rounded at its bottom edge.
Thanks you so much - that was exactly my problem! Once I flipped the blinds it was very easy to clip in. The instructions tell you to place in in the right direction but do NOT tell you how to tell which is which! Perhaps they should put a sticker saying "Front".
THANK YOU!!!!! for posting this comment. I was starting to get angry. Had the same problem, as the video. Except, it still wouldn't click into place. Was about to leave a comment, begging for help. Then saw you comment. It was so easy, after knowing the front.
Thank you Leanne! I threw the instructions that came with the blinds to the trash and checked youtube and found your video very helpful. I didn't have to waste time trying to figure out how to install. I managed to install within 15 minutes without sweating or swearing!
I attempted to install these blinds at a clients new apartment... it was impossible for me to figure out. yes, I was more than frustrated. Gladly I found your well spoken, clearly recorded demo! thanks a lot for taking the time to share! have a fantastic day :D
Thank you! Your frustration matched mine, and your determined perseverance matched mine, and your success helped me to be successful! None of the other explanations helped an iota, and the accompanying instructions were definitely quite useless. Thank you , thank you!
There are a lot of comments on this video. But I had the same problem with the so called "rotate" way of getting the back side to snap into place. BUT, I quickly found that if you look up from the bottom and pull the blind away from the window slightly after the front edge is in position, JUST push the back underside of the top of the blind into the clip. PERECT! The rotation happens automatically and you do not have to struggle with it. If you were to remove the blind, this technique is described in the instructions, so DO NOT attempt to rotate the blind mechanism into place. Look from underneath and push up to secure the blind.
Thank you soooooo much for this video. My mom and I (mostly my mom) were trying to figure these stupid blinds out for the longest, they came with the worst instructions ever!!! Your video saved us!! We were on the edge of losing it, thank you thank you thank you!!!
Excellent video. A very good refresher. We installed these in our first home now we're installing them in our second home. The video was a good reminder how it ought to be done. Yes there is a front side.
Thank you so much for the helpful video. I am older than you and also have arthritis in my fingers and I get dizzy looking up that much. So....I am going to call my son, now that I see that my issues with the blind aren't just me. Or maybe they are. Thank you also for keeping it real and positive.
Just to add to your GREAT video, Leanne... I finally realized that (unless you are very tall) if you simply get your head up level with the clips as you did, standing on a chair or ladder, then give a swift SMACK (with your hand or small rubber mallet) straight up from underneath to the WHOLE COMPRESSED blind mechanism (in line with each clip, slightly toward the window side of the bottom plastic trim bar), the top plastic bar should click right in. Worked on the first smack for each clip...after HOURS of utter frustration and many expletives. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction by getting up level with the clips. Made all the difference. SP
God love you! I have been trying to get the exact shade up for almost 2 hours. Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing it step by step!!!! THE DIRECTIONS SUCK
I can't tell you how much satisfaction I get from the response of others who've found the video. Thank you for commenting, and I 'm so glad it helped :-)
I was very frustrated I couldn't get my blinds snapped in. Thanks for your video. It turned out that my brackets were not exactly straight. I couldn't even see any difference between 2 brackets, but when I adjusted the screws so that the brackets were both flush with the window, they snapped in without a problem. I was able to solve 2 window blinds by adjusting the brackets.
Thanks Leanne, I would still be fighting with these stupid mounts and my wife if it weren't for you. We are pretty strong and still had trouble snapping them into place.
Thank you so much, your video helped sooo much!!! I’ve spent hours trying to get these stupid blinds latched on, the directions are terrible! Great video, thank you!!!
Thankyou so much for this!!! I was so frustrated and to top it off, in the struggle I scratched up my newly painted window trim. Then Voila! There you were. ahhh...I will hang the the other three tomorrow. I need a break.
Thank you for the video! I was starting to get angry. Had the same problem, as the video. Except, it still wouldn't click into place. Was about to leave a comment, begging for help. Then saw one of the comments. It was so easy, after knowing the front.
You left out the part about installing the large screws and little screws and the Hold Down brackets. I figure that the large screws are for the bracket (I'm doing an inside mount) and the little screws are for the Hold Down brackets? Is the Hold Down bracket really necessary? I don't understand why it's needed or how it's suppose to work.
you rock, my wife and I almost went crazy just as you almost did- the dumb ass istructions say to install with shades all the way up. WRONG And you are beautiful.
I just installed 5 of 8 cellular blinds and ran into the Same Issue! (I'm 70) Wish I'd seen your video first!!! I'm now looking for a video on how to install top-down, bottom-up cordless cellular shades. Any help here?
I laughed and laughed at this Randy. I did the same thing with the ones I tried to install about 10 years ago. And every time I needed to adjust it, it came down dust and all.... doh!
I'm having the same problem with my blind. Just got it, instructions are terrible. Can't find a you tube video on this type of blind. They're plastic. So frustrating 🤪
But this is just a shade, not blinds. Your title says "blinds" I have actual cordless blinds from the same manufacturer. I'm also having trouble putting it together. Heck, I'm still having trouble trying to figure out how remove the old blinds off my window.
Also, it says that if you want the blind flush with the wall "..the distance from the wall to center of 1st screw hole needs to be 3/4"." In the tiny illustration they provided it almost looks like they are referring to the hole on the window side, not the hole on the room side. Since there are only 2 holes either one could be the first hole depending on the perspective. The instructions they provide are just terrible!
The should just give the URL to this video instead of their unhelpful instructions. I was about to return mine as like others spent way too much time on something that should take seconds.
One of the most realistic "self help" videos I've ever seen. Thank you.

Thank you, Alyse!
I have been wrestling with my blinds for about 2 hours now. After watching your video they snapped right in. You're the best ! Thank You !
That final snap is quite gratifying when it's done. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks Craig. At the end of it all, it was a fun day and glad to have learned something new. I'm glad it was helpful!
After many hours, broken shade and the cut was off, You did the best job. Thank you for helping us install the shades.
Thanks Ellen. I'm sorry the shade became broken. So frustrating.
Much love and appreciation for the video and your struggle. Obviously I’m on here because I couldn’t figure it myself. And I’m 30 yo with much handyman experience.
This blind is truly a force to be reckoned with! lol
Thanks! You are second experienced handyman that was frustrated with the installation. I'm glad I could help.
After a major struggle like you, we realized THERE IS A FRONT VS BACK OF THE BLINDS, very subtle difference that makes such a big difference with installation. The back top has a little bit of a straight edge, and the front top is rounded at its bottom edge.
These companies need to have real consumers use their instructions before putting them out there. Maybe you and I can be a team :-)
Thanks you so much - that was exactly my problem! Once I flipped the blinds it was very easy to clip in. The instructions tell you to place in in the right direction but do NOT tell you how to tell which is which! Perhaps they should put a sticker saying "Front".

It takes a village sometimes. I'm glad it worked for you.
Thank you Leanne! I threw the instructions that came with the blinds to the trash and checked youtube and found your video very helpful. I didn't have to waste time trying to figure out how to install. I managed to install within 15 minutes without sweating or swearing!
You're awesome!

Thank you, Robert. I feel quite validated to know someone with your experience still struggled with the instructions. Peace!
Thank you! Your frustration matched mine, and your determined perseverance matched mine, and your success helped me to be successful! None of the other explanations helped an iota, and the accompanying instructions were definitely quite useless. Thank you , thank you!
Aw, thanks for those words! It's great to be part of something good!
Excellent demonstration. We spent 2 very frustrating hours trying to figure these out and it was 5 minutes after we watched your video.
Nice to hear that it cleared things up :-)

You are WelCOME, Bob. I'm glad it was helpful!

The struggle is real :) I'm glad it helped, Sabrina!
Thanks Sweetie, installed mine with no problems after watching you.
Aw - that's great.

Thanks, ScaryPete. I'll try this if I install another one!
THANK YOU!!!!! For everything, especially the tip about the end caps! And back side in first. And that there IS a back side.......
AND the tip about opening it up a little!! (Loved how you were hanging on it at one point! LOL!!!)
I'm glad it helped!
YoU are awesome, Susan!

Great Cindy! Sorry about the extra paintwork.
Thank you for the video! I was starting to get angry. Had the same problem, as the video. Except, it still wouldn't click into place. Was about to leave a comment, begging for help. Then saw one of the comments. It was so easy, after knowing the front.

Thanks so much this was very helpful
I'm glad, Ejike.
You saved my life! Thank you ❤️
Very helpful thank you

I don't understand why it's needed or how it's suppose to work.
I didn't install the hold down bracket. I can only imagine it would be needed if the windows were drafty, causing the blind to swing forward... dunno.
you rock, my wife and I almost went crazy just as you almost did- the dumb ass istructions say to install with shades all the way up. WRONG And you are beautiful.
I almost pulled the video after posting thinking that no one else would be as aggravated as I had been. I'm glad I left it. Thanks for commenting!
Great thanks for the tip
You're Welcome! Thanks for commenting.
You go, girl. Can we be friends? Coffee's ready.
Thanks Lisa! I'll take mine with a little half and half.
It took about 5 min to put this in with the original instruction. The clip in the illustration shows how the clip goes in. Not the final position.
I just installed 5 of 8 cellular blinds and ran into the Same Issue! (I'm 70) Wish I'd seen your video first!!!
I'm now looking for a video on how to install top-down, bottom-up cordless cellular shades. Any help here?
I'm having this exact problem right now! For the life of me, I cannot get these damn blinds to snap in.
I hope you eventually got them to snap.
Yes, after a great deal of violence!
You're funny!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
I love your arms! They're beautiful like the rest of you!!!!
its funny cause i left my all messed up for like 2 years told everyone not to touch it, cause i was that frustrated
I laughed and laughed at this Randy. I did the same thing with the ones I tried to install about 10 years ago. And every time I needed to adjust it, it came down dust and all.... doh!
Thanks
I'm having the same problem with my blind. Just got it, instructions are terrible. Can't find a you tube video on this type of blind. They're plastic. So frustrating 🤪

I have actual cordless blinds from the same manufacturer. I'm also having trouble putting it together. Heck, I'm still having trouble trying to figure out how remove the old blinds off my window.
The box label says blinds, so I was going by that. I'm sorry if it was confusing.
U are super
Thanks!

The instructions were nothing but confusing for me..
I love your arms too. And I swore for you. Like twenty times.
Thank you Nancy - for the swearing ;) You'd be an awesome DIY buddy!
I had a terrible time getting these blinds to snap in.
Sorry for that frustration.
Thank-you so much!!!!!!!!!! And yes you is delicious girl!
You're welcome, Dave!
WHAT THE HELL was that at 3:42 did you have a seizure or something hahaha
That's my default move when I j u s t can't take it anymore.
The should just give the URL to this video instead of their unhelpful instructions. I was about to return mine as like others spent way too much time on something that should take seconds.
That would be 10 kinds of awesome. I'm glad it helped!
They don't work at all had the same problem 👍😂🥃☠️
Thanks
You are welcome, Najnin.
