I purchase all my eyewear with photochromic lenses. UV is present all year around. I tend to not wear sunglasses in the fall & winter which I should on those bright cold days. Spring to early fall I will wear sunglasses. After watching your videos I purchased gradient mirror & full mirror sunglasses. It is definitely clearer to see while driving & city biking. No need to use car sun visor.

Interesting video. One important comment: both these lenses are photochromic. AdaptiveSun are photochromic, hence their ability to become darker when there is a lot of UV. Adaptive Sun are photochromic sunglasses.

Another excellent video. Zeiss Adaptive Sun seems like the way to go. Even for the UK regular photochromic do not go dark enough. I think the UK is actually quite bright during spring and summer. Or maybe I am becoming more light sensitive...

    • @thespectaclefactory

That's so true... yes we don't get warm weather but we do usually get bright weather all year round. And sunglasses are for *bright* weather, not necessarily *warm* weather.

Which is better for driving, DriveSafe with BlueGuard or Adaptive Sun with polarization? How about combining them i.e. DriveSafe with BlueGuard + clip-on with Adaptive Sun with polarization? If this combination is possible, one would have driving glasses and sunglasses in one.

  • @ikarugaxx3749
    @ikarugaxx3749 Год назад

The doubt left is, I think, what to have besides the sunglasses.
A transparent-lenses pair of glasses, or one with Photofusion X?
I also don't trust wholly the thing that indoors, when they are about 8% tinted, vision is the same as with transparent lenses. Not easy to notice the difference, I trust. The same, I don't.
It's like losing a bit of that colour fidelity that makes us want Zeiss lenses in the first place, seems to me (I haven't tried these lenses, any of them).

Roughly how long do the photofusion lenses take to change?

    • @thespectaclefactory

Photofusion is pretty quick - about 30 seconds to reach sunglass level and about 2 minutes to return to virtually clear

    Hi
Very nice explanation. I just got my prescription photo fusion x and most of time they don't turn dark to sunglasses level even though sun shine is bright.
And from your video I learnt that they don't work well while driving otherwise I was perplexed what's happening. Thank you for the valuable information.
Why don't they turn dark in bright sunlight? Anything to do with UV in sunlight?
    Thanks

Here in the United States, it's very hard to get PhotoFusion, and PhotoFusion and Transitions are very different in terms of performance. Having PhotoFusion has made me hate Transitions, which have a LOT of weaknesses, including very ugly tints and slow processing when exposed to UV light and when returning indoors. PhotoFusion are like having a dimmer switch, as they adapt so effortlessly to light. The blue tint is gorgeous. I get compliments on mine all the time, which blows my mind because most people hate "transition lenses" (in the US, at least, people think only one company makes photochromic lenses). Also, this is another comment for US-based people, but Zeiss lenses and coatings are superior to all others. I wear progressives, and have tried so many different brands and nothing (!) -- except Shamir, which are also pretty great -- even come close to Zeiss. I don't drive all that much, so I think photochromic is more important than sunglasses, or at least equally important. But in the spring and summer, if I just have my windows down or cracked, enough light gets in that my photochromic lenses work well enough. :-)

I would appreciate your answer. Cheers from Belgium.
