When you're talking about it, it seems that there is a solution and people can live there again soon. That's not the case! So just to make that clear: You can't really de-contaminate or recycle the soil that easily. What the japanese government is doing, is just storing the soil in huge bags in interim-storages (like the one at 2:51). They don't know what to do with all that soil (so those storages are not really "interim"). Currently, there are more than 16.000 of those storages. However, even if they could manage to clean the soil: The trees surrounding the whole area 'store' radioactivity, too. So here's what happens: The government removes the soil, until they reach a level of soil that is not contaminated. Theoretically, people can live on this clean soil then. BUT the trees are still contaminated and they 'pollute' radiation to the environment when it's raining or thawing after the winter. Then, the soil is contaminated again. And even if they would just chop off all the trees, remove the soil and start all over again, there still is contaminated groundwater. Water coming from the mountains, passing through the area where the nuclear power plants stand, contaminates the whole area again. The government and TEPCO try to block and store that water, but they're almost at their limits to do so. Last year they had around 780.000 cubic-litres of groundwater stored, waiting to get cleaned up. The maximum capacity is at around 870.000 cubic-litres. The whole contaminated area will stay abandoned. It takes decades (if not more) until the area will be ready to get populated again.
Yeah wtf, we on Holland have bigger walls for the sea and we don't even have tsunami's it's just there in case there is bad weather because our country is below sea level. But yea those walls couldn't even stand stormy weather let alone a tsunami haha.
+MrPatriickzz Levee's can be shorter if there are decent intake drains in front of them that divert water around cities. Do the levee systems in Holland have intake tunnels.
Finn O'Bryan I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed but everyone is just talking about him saying "fishes" and about him not wearing protection lol
Actually, there's a camera function in the Google Translate app that is very useful for languages like japanese. There's also a handwriting tool so you can write the characters by hand!
People really think radiation is the most dangerous thing in the world. The same for nuclear powerplants. While they are actually really really productive and quite safe.
is only when someone fuckes up the something or erthQ comes out of no whare but im thinking a law about where one can be built cues thats how japan messed up bilding where vocanos are good idea
Thank you so much for these videos. You are truly a brave sole going through this risk to document this horrible and preventable atrocity. Domo arigato.
Here I am about to go to bed and we get a new vid :O it looks so beautiful, it's hard to imagine the scale of what happened there. It's so wild to see such a huge space abandoned especially in Japan, you know how valuable space is, it's so sad. Gorgeous shots as always
Hi Josh so sad to see everything just left and then some being just totally gone. It is so sad to know so many lost everything they had. Thanks for sharing this with us.
That's a Planetarium at 5:12 , #ExploringWithJosh, basically a building where short videos and images - educating about Stars, Planets, Our Solar System and Constellations are shown with the help of a projector, for educating children and open for Public Entertainment as well.
Japan is an amazing country with absolutely fantastic and wonderful people. I've always been a big lover of the country and the culture etc, to the point that when the disaster struck all those years ago I remember sitting on the floor crying my eyes out. I think I was 14 at the time. Very very sad.
best videos ive ever seen I love that feeling u get when u explore a abandond place its unexplanable. as a kid I alwaysed loved to explore the same way and my friends and family thought I was odd. 😂 just knowing what happend and the history behind it and finding others belongings and wondering to whom it may have belongd to and what else they were interested lol its pertty intense. ur videos are the only ones where u are passionate about doing it and not just doing it for likes and suscribes.
Imho people are going ape over it for no reason... There is almost no reason to keep people out of their houses... The radation you get outside is about as bad as a very sunny day in the Bahamas... Your always bathed in radation most dont realise or understand it...

I liked that one standing tree..
I wonder if the little shrine round it was cos someone died in it or was even saved by holding on to it.
SuperMissblueeyes Japanese are spiritual, so they probably saw the only tree saw some symbolism in it.

ItsmeSmile they have ridiculous discounts in japan. you can sometimes get 0.8 or 0.5% off xD
y lel
bullshit, thats financing at a 0 percent rate
maybe it meant you can pay 0% of the price, which sounds like a good deal to me
Leme just reapeat what you said. But in a MORE sence way.... did that thing at 8:57 just say 0% off?
Yeah that wall is not stopping shit....
SiMpLe JaCk they need to call trump to build them a wall ! haha !
+SiMpLe JaCk Water levees do help a lot with controlling temporary high water levels
Yeah wtf, we on Holland have bigger walls for the sea and we don't even have tsunami's it's just there in case there is bad weather because our country is below sea level. But yea those walls couldn't even stand stormy weather let alone a tsunami haha.
+NotTheAverageGamerz that's really not funny anymore

You can use Google Translate to help you translate languages. (100,000,000 downloads)
how? you can't type japanese, and if you can you'd be searching through all the symbols, it'd just be a waste of time...
That's True.
there has been programms which read text using your cellphone camera for years...
Actually, there's a camera function in the Google Translate app that is very useful for languages like japanese. There's also a handwriting tool so you can write the characters by hand!
Xover112, I think that Google Translate has over 100,000,000 downloads.

@ojiwejwioehdoi io3j2riodhweu Bold coming from someone with a stupid name like yours.
@ojiwejwioehdoi io3j2riodhweu You're 13 days old, you're a new born, square up mate.
@ojiwejwioehdoi io3j2riodhweu Maybe after you change that hideous name, so far you haven't deserved it.
@ojiwejwioehdoi io3j2riodhweu And maybe try not to act like a 12 year old, that's sad.

I think the most dangerous thing what could happen to them is that they catch a cold
People really think radiation is the most dangerous thing in the world. The same for nuclear powerplants. While they are actually really really productive and quite safe.
Davi Hung They carry a Geiger counter when exploring areas where radiation could be present, they're perfectly safe.
Mihaela6476 *Chernobyl
is only when someone fuckes up the something or erthQ comes out of no whare but im thinking a law about where one can be built cues thats how japan messed up bilding where vocanos are good idea

3:55 I wonder if the clock stopped right when the radiation hit?
I think it did cuz Radiation sends small emp blasts when it expands
Wow....
No
And no a meltdown doesn send an emp only a nuclear explosion does this was caused by hydrogen gas explosion no atoms fissioning

So tragic and sad that those poor people lost everything
Why is it taking so long in between uploads?
Probably because he has to travel to and from the places he explores
Because they can't stay in their for long because of radiation
