See for yourself below: Coffee board was setup in india in 1907 much before india tea board which was setup in 1950 India is 6th largest producer of coffee in the world, however 70% of coffee production is in karnataka followed by kerala 20% and TN 5% and the rest 5% is produced in AP and north eastern states However 80% of coffee produced in india is exported with 21% sent to Italy itself. On the other hand India is 2nd largest producer of tea and 1st in consumption (gross not per capita) and 4th in export. So this shows that tea is more consumed in india than coffee. As I earlier posted 60% of ppl still prefer drinking coffee in TN and 50% in Karnataka the 2 most populous states of south india. Therefore naturally coffee drinkers in south india number goes up because population in kerala is less although 95% of them consume tea. Masala chai - In a deep pan / vessel half a glass of water ADD 1 small stick of cinnamon, small peice of crushed ginger , 1 or 2 cloves , crushed pepercorns and cardamom. And let it boil then add some sugar / honey as per taste, If u want black tea, If not add 3/4 glass milk or depending on ur taste.
