Just had a conversation with Charlie about purchasing a watch from himself. Extremely polite, basically how you see in the videos. That's twice i've called them and twice received the same service. A lot of grey dealers i have spoken to have been quite rude and obnoxious. That was easy

if the difference between AD and grey market is close, why would you ever turn down a brand new 2025 watch from the AD if it's a watch you really want?
This is a good point. It seems that people go to grey dealers to get the watch on the day and not play the Rolex qualification game. If you already have a relationship with Rolex, then this isn't really an issue and of course it would be better getting it from the source.
Exactly. I'd only go grey for high end pieces in todays market, because you may save 5-10k there. What's a grand for a steel watch from the AD, nothing.
Because you either can’t get the watch you want, have to buy other watches (spend money at that dealers shop), develop a relationship with him or her, or you’ll have to sign up on a waiting list and wait many months perhaps a couple years to get it.

as long as people paying over retail the ad dance will continue. if you dont want to support it actually you should NOT buy over retail.
I went to the AD at Harrods in December and was told that nothing was available. I went again yesterday and they told me nothing is in stock. I ended up buying a two tone large Cartier Santos.
Cartier is more classy Rolex is dead only a few models look decent Cartier santos always looks good 👍
Don’t bother with Harrods. There are allegations out there that their Rolex AD is corrupt. All the nicest models are allegedly held back for people who spend the most money in Harrods overall.

Harrods is a complete waste of time. I have been in there numerous times and the staff look down at you as if don’t deserve a Rolex. If you go into the Audemars Piguet boutique next door you will see staff who are extremely polite and knowledgeable. I went there about 5 months ago and spoke to a guy called Ed and he was amazing.
Enjoyable video my AD was saying that they only get one platinum Daytona per year!

I was actually on the list for the ghost, they got the wrong watch on the order weirdly. I turned it down. Too much money to spend on a watch I didn’t order. Did I do the right thing in your opinion? 8:41 - I was registered for the black diamond version but I turned it down after I got the call last year! I'm not sure why, but the Daytona just looks small on my wrist compared to my other 40mm pieces. Apparently it is due to the slightly wider bezel, but I'm not sure. It's a stunning watch but unfortunately not for me in the end.

Hi Charlie! Nice Video! Ive purchased from an AD and had an amazing experience. I’ve heard that Rolex may track down pieces sold to Grey Market dealers and ban those individuals from buying from an AD again. Does stuff like that happen? As a buyer do I have any risk buying from a Grey Dealer? Just curious and thank you!

Love my AD, got me a blue jubilee skydweller as my first watch in under a year followed by a rose gold Daytona oysterflex in another 12 months. Next on the list is the 41 mint green DJ.

The DSSD where I live in Asia (both variants) no waitlist due to size. The new dial with less text is extremely nice. Nice to see Sub prices are attractive on the secondary ❤

A large major AD store location I know only got 2 in last year and they went to VIP clients. Which I totally understand, if I'd spent upwards of 500K I'd want priority treatment.

@@thehonestwatchdealer How its made, and Coke coming. It's the Blue that causes the problem. In all of the GMT bezels a single colour glaze power is placed around the full bezel then a second glaze power is placed over the top half. The intensity of the Blue needs to be strong enough to cover the Red or the red shows through purple. This is why in the sun the blue is slightly purple. If they make it too thick you get a thicker to thinner fault line at 3 and 9 which can snap. On all the others, the Blue, Green, Brown glaze power is put on first and black placed second, the black is a dominant colour and covers the under colour in a thinner coat. If they is any shine trough it would be a complementary Blue/black, Green/Black, Brown/Black hue which is fine. Coke would be a slightly darker red than Pepsi with black over the top. It's a much easier configuration to produce than Red/Blue. I heard from a Tudor AD that Rolex patented a new GMT colour way. My guess is a Coke is coming, now whether the Maxi case switches to a 41mm is less certain.

Both incredible watches, Rolex would likely be more durable, however the VC is one of the ‘Holy Trinity’ after all!

@ that is not correct. I dont think platinum with ice blue is a pass, yellow gold with green or ombre green cannot be pass, yellow gold onyx dial cannot be pass, rose gold green dial same and also the eisenkiesel… so all in all there are very good pieces in that collection

You could try at the AD! It is a stunning watch, so might have quite a wait time for this one!

You hand your money over to the grey market dealer and he gives you the watch. It's called buying something 😂
If you shop around Independent dealers you should be able to find one underlist!

Does it matter if I buy a 2021 model instead of a 2023 model? Given it is Rolex, as long as the 2021 is new and unworned, it should be OK right? Thanks
Yes it should be fine! The 2023 model will just give you extra warranty.

What are the economics of these watches they sell on the gray market under retail price? Why would someone pay 20K from the AD and then sell it for 18K so that the gray market dealer can turn around and sell it for 19K. I don’t get it.

@ thanks! Of the 15 ADs I’ve visited between US and Japan, they all claim to have only seen one and never have a display model. Luckily, I did have a chance to try one on wrist in a Tokyo resell shop

Modern Rolex ? No thanks, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. I dont need to show off. Love some of the 1950s Datejusts at sleeper prices. But am currently fine with my vintage Rolexes. Waves 6582 on the wrist.

Gray market prices 👎 Rolex AD availability 👎 That's why I got myself an Omega Speedmaster Pro, awesome piece at a reasonable price, try to beat that!
