Owen es mi ruta de escape❤️🩹
I love the opening line! ‘Love is not enough, we need some money’ haha! So true.
i gave you a roll of quarters for a cd at one of your shows probably 7 years ago, you opened for the apleseed cast, you were better, thanks for taking it man
I saw him on that tour as well when they rolled through Texas. What a great show!

I dont get tired of listening to mike's songs. tbh.
First time i've heard him. This is GORGEOUS!
This is gonna be played in some TV show some day. Then people will come and go looking for it. I feel it.
here before the 50 people comment "you were right"
CAP'N JAZZ
(Takes deep breath) That was just what I needed. So serene....This brings me down to earth in times of unpleasant restlessness, which ironically is drawn all over Mike's face. It's interesting how anxiety can destroy you on the inside, but your projections can be peaceful and grounding.
he's such an amazing and talented artist.
I etched our names on a northbound train, and left our lust to wander Slone Square 😔 😞
So so so good! Nothing compares.
no1 sing & play guitar so flawless like him imo
Another great one!
Just perfect in all ways.
flawless.
I just realized: what i love about mike is his stripped down songs. Just him and his guitar. He doesnt need a band, its just a distraction from his beautiful beautiful songs
Manfred Ignacio Pérez Alemán Mike's live performances are something i love so much about him and his music. even some of the songs with fuller arrangements like some on New Leaves or L'ami Du Peuple still sound so great when it's just him.
me gusta mucho. suena todo bien.
Spellbinding as always.
I try not to use contractions when I comment on Owen videos. They are complete.
I never even considered putting a cap that far up the neck--it sounds quite nice.
Mike Kinsella could use some shut-eye
which year is that guitar? are both parts played on it? sounds like auditory gold...
Both parts?
@@CurtisKlope i watch his hands strum yet i hear fingerpicking at the same time. perhaps i am aging none too gracefully...or i was thinking about the two guitars (heavily multi-tracked) on David Sanborns' "Theme From Love Is Not Enough", the search that my have landed me here in the first place.
@@stuartweissman7306 ah I see what you mean in the beginning. I'm pretty sure he's doing both. He's fingers are strumming and his thumb is striking the bass note as it passes by. And he's using hammer ons at a few points as well, so you hear notes that his right hand isn't picking. Definitely some skill there but nothing too out there I don't think. 👍
How did they mic the guitar?
Franklin Savulich With a microphone.
Franklin Savulich small diaphragm pointed up towards the soundhole about a foot away. you can see it in a few shots
any tabs of this??

open D or DADGAD ?
I'm not 100% positive, but I think you're on the nose-- sounds like DADGAD at the 11th fret (which is waaay too high on my acoustic).
DADGAD, I'm sure ^^
Ruben Holliday So, drop D?
DADGAD
Actually I'm pretty sure it's DADF#AD, he's using some of the same chord shapes that Bon Iver uses on re: stacks.
is this song in 8/4 ?
4/4
Why is he ALWAYS good live with Owen and ALWAYS terrible live with American Football?
In the American Football songs he usually has to sing higher notes, which is harder for him, because his voice is not the same as 16 years ago, cuz aging happens, haha.
also, because he doesn't project as much with owen. it's a lot quieter and more subdued. they play the older AF tunes down a half step as well, which helps with his different range, but i think most of it comes down to the stylistic change between Owen vocals and AF vocals.
Jayse Yes, definitely that as well.
He's gotten a lot better with the AF songs now, though he did sound pretty terrible when they first got back together again.
looks like he hasnt slept for ages.
I dont know why but i just like mike kinsella live... i dont like his albums. In a way his music doesnt translate well to albums
who care? he is my inspiration
Manfred Ignacio Pérez Alemán his owen stuff does well in my opinion but his american football stuff I agree with that statement and thought maybe i was crazy for noticing it. I think it might have to do with production quality too flat of eq maybe.
