Japan has a lot of amazing bands. I watch a lot of indie shows here in Tokyo.
Some bands I would highly recommend are "Indigo La End" and "ART-SCHOOL".
If you're into shoegazing/dream-pop then check out "Kinoko Teikoku". They're pretty amazing.
listening to this band when you are depressed is so fucking different than when youre not. Idk how to explain it. But I'd relate it to watering plants when they are first planted, compared to when they are first starting to grow and bloom. At first I was just excited and didn't know what to expect, but now that I've seen the beauty of it, it's not more of a chore to me to water them every day, it just feels... right. I'm going through such a hard time in my life right now, but listening to them just feels... right.

We arent living in a normal world anymore. And I agree that discovering this band was an amazing things. There are many awesome bands but this one definitely is special and makes you think of many deep canyons of the soul. I hope you have started to feel a little more whole my friend..

American Football is one of the few bands that will legit make me tear up listening to them :')
the 2nd half of this song kinda reminds me of "honestly" from their debut album
the vibe this band brings is unreal, I can listen to this all dayyy long and all night.
My Instincts Are The Anime
This song and video are otherworldly in ways I simply cannot describe. I know they got famous for the first album but I truly think this album is a _complete masterpiece_ spawned after an extra 16 years of talent and raw emotion.
Been listening to this non-stop since it first came out. This is more Owen than the original American Football, but I'm definitely not mad. There's enough different about it and enough similar to create something new that isn't too far from it's roots. Fantastic song and album.

That polyrhythm at 3:00 was so unexpected
it's just so beautiful every time
I love it. It's also so simple compared to how impactful it is, just the drums playing 2 bars of 3/4 in the space of the guitar's 4/4 bar. It really is genius to me, prime example of proper use of complexity. So many polyrythms way more complex than this don't carry nearly as much meaning to the overall experience.

This is a nice wink at the huge math rock scene in Japan.
I love this Band! I had the pleasure of seeing them perform this album in Philadelphia right before the pandemic hit in 2018. I had front row seats with a very Good friend who introduced their music to me . Mike Kinsella ( lead) likes to take walks right before the performance and walked right by us in line. we said hey! and he spoke. they are so down to earth. love this band so much. one of favorite songs of all time.

thems polyrythms on the second half have me fuckin banging my head against a desk while creaming my pants and crying at the song at the same time
actually thinkin bout it i'm not sure if it's a polyrythm, you can definitely count the guitar riff as a 3/4 along with the drums and bass, but when it starts by itself it's 100% not how I felt the tempo/time signature, which is why it almost feels like a polyrythm and the subversion of expectations gives it an amazing effect
