For me, the map I find myself missing the most from the competitive map pool is cobblestone. The map doesn’t feel like anything else in the game from the gameplay to the aesthetics so it’s a real shame it’s gone.
Cobblestone always was one of the more interesting maps for me from a visual perspective. It had a different feel from most of the other maps in how it was portrayed , and the map layout was interesting.
I think my favourite none playable map was probably Aztec, I really enjoyed the jungle aesthetic with the bridges including the lower and higher levels of elevation. It was a very fun map
For me it's probably insertion 2. Although the map was maybe a bit too big, I really liked how they made a map that's totally different from the already existing ones.
Hell, I loved Insertion II, totally one of the best maps I ever played. It's incredibly fun to play with friends even in competitive, I was so bummed when they removed it
Cache has a special place in my heart because of the memories I've made on it compared to other maps. It also has some amazing competitive history to boot, I really hope to see it again in competitive rotation soon!!!
Cobblestone was a gorgeous map that, to me, plays totally different than a lot of the maps in the pool now. Its such an iconic map with a ton of memories, so it definitely needs to make a comeback. To be fair all of the maps do. There are so many maps that I forget about playing back in the day but not a day goes by that I don’t get multiple rounds of dust ii and mirage. As much as I like consistency, a few surprises sprinkled in here or there would be refreshing
I really miss Aztec. It was so much fun playing this map in my early days of cs:go when I didnt really know what was going on or what I was doing, but that map made the cunfusion somehow really enjoyable. Cobblestone is also severely missed, it was one of my favourite maps before it got reworked, I have still yet to see a map that plays somewhat similar to Cobble
I really really like Insertion II. That is the map I played the hell out of while it was there. I remember the first couple of days when it was new for everyone and I figured out the timings and hiding spots after a game or two and proceeded to steamroll almost everyone trying to play there for a day or two. And even after that it was the map I had the most fun on. It has so many options on how to approach the objective, thus never gets boring. Really a shame to see it gone now. I wish for its return. I had the chance to play on the first map, which was the one that brought the deployment location selection to life, and it was good, but not as amazing as the second one.
I loved Insertion II because it felt like you were playing a very different game... It was also one of the only hostage rescue maps where CTs could actually WIN. Every angle as a T always had a counter angle, I loved that.
The Insertion maps elevate hostage mode to something great. Jammed the hell outta Insertion 2 when it was out, loved the openness, the relative ‘brokenness’ with how many random spots you can boost up and use to your advantage. It actually felt challenging and was best enjoyed with a 5-stack, you had to communicate with your team instead of the regular playing-on-autopilot type gameplay that the regular bomb defusal maps are known for. I miss it
insertion ii was probably my favorite map that's been removed, the vertical element of the map really added a lot of fun to the game and also the multiple spawns which made for a lot of possible strats that spiced up the gameplay
My favorite map was basalt, because how it was on comp for a limited time while still being a good map. I remember when I first played it, it was a exquisite, and how it was balanced with T side and CT side. I wish it was a perma map but all I guess all good things have to end.
Militia is a map I always found interesting, other than the scenery, I found the gameplay fun and sure, while it's hostage mode which is a gamemode with not a very good reputation, I liked it nevertheless. Congratulations on your soon-to-be 20k subs too and best of luck with your future RUclips career, you are making amazing content.
I miss the oil rig map, Black Gold, that was in the original operation and I think Hydra or Wildfire. A bit confusing for someone new but once you get the hang of it, it becomes a favorite in my eyes.
Ever since Basalt was removed, I’ve really missed playing it. I enjoyed both the aesthetic and gameplay, and it gave way to numerous unique strategies. It felt different from other maps, while still having the fundamental passageways and layout, and it let players utilize pretty much any kind of gun effectively.
Favorite map has to be cs_assault. I used to play it so much in 1.6, but the CS:GO version never really captured the same feeling and playability of the old one. I think it could be a viable competitive map - well, as viable as hostage maps are - if reworked properly. But maybe it should be just a casual map, meant to be played 10 v 10 like it used to be.
I really enjoyed insertion 2! The open map was really fun and made for some great meme gameplay but it was balanced out by the fog, and you could choose to play fast paced around the middle of the map or slower and more passive lurks by the edges and corners. Love the content!
Cobblestone was a fun map to play because I feel that there was alot more dynamic fights on the map. like A site is pretty open and B site is alot of close range fights.
For me it's probably Austria, seems like a really well rounded and well designed map that I never got to play in Competitive since it's been out of the game for so long. Would also love to see Fastline from CS:CZ make a return in CS:GO because I like the theme and the unique layout and sites a lot, but admittedly it's very unlikely to ever come back.
I know it was already in the game before in operation breakout, but I really enjoyed Insertion. It'd be nice if they brought it back in some form. Maybe it could work well for a danger zone map if slightly retweaked. Idk. But yeah, I'm glad you're quickly gaining new subs; the quality of your content is so good, so it's nice to see that others are coming to recognize your work!
Italy was my favorite map. I just loved the pastel aesthetic and the almost two lane design out of spawn. The map just looks so surreal. Also, congrats on almost 30k subs!!
One of my favorite maps that isn’t playable right now is Rialto, it was a wingman map that I used to play all the time with my friends when I first started out playing csgo so it holds a special place in my heart. Pretty bummed that they took it out and have been waiting for it’s return ever since.
I love all those redesigns though i always feel like they odd me out snd confuse me. Its just like switching your gun to your left, playing a whole different game suddenly. My favourite map however was bioms, loved it from a graphical perspective and its the map which got me into cs, helped me lesrn its mechanics, where i found my first friends and made my first aces and clutches. Never understood why it had been removed.
It absolutely is Cobblestone for me. Such a fun map with probably my favourite aesthetic for any map in CS. Congrats on the almost double sub count since you made this video! Great to see cs content like this.
Out of all the maps out there, I really enjoyed playing Basalt. I know, hasn't been out there for long, but the setting and rather more open layout really appealed to me at times. From the once official maps I will have to go with prodigy. Only played it in source, but it was really fun.
I dont know if wingman counts but I really miss Guard. The layout was pretty sick which made defending and attacking the bombsite feel pretty well balanced imo. Congrats on the channel popping off you definetly deserve it.
Insertion 1 is my favorite map, tho insertion 2 is a close second. They’re just so different from every map, even hostage maps. Plus the fog concept is really cool (even if buggy at times)
The one I miss being able to play in competitive most is actually canals. I really like more unique map designs and canals just really did it for me for some reason. While it had problems, I think it still played a fair bit better than most people realized. I even made my own edit of it where I tried to fix some of my problems with the map, though I never uploaded that to the workshop.
assault is by far my favorite map of all of csgo. when i was a kid and first started playing csgo i loved the hostage maps and assault was so fun with the dynamic of the vent and the windows on the roof and the fact u could wallbang anything on the map almost. i would sit in a 40 min q everyday waiting to get an assault game and i still would do the same 100% years later. i would rather play vs ecl player on assault then vs bots on nuke. its just such a good map.
when released i really like de_subzero, with the cool second underground way to get to A and the unique easthetics with some storytelling in the scenery. I think that with a rework of the B bombsite and a smaller mid window it could be a pretty good map ;)
My favorite is Cobblestone, when it was a playable map I didnt really play it to often in comp. But now that its gone, I can appreciate it for what it was.
Honestly, I think my favorite CSGO map overall is Subzero. It brought back the arctic avengers, the skybox was BEAUTIFUL and there was so much storytelling within the small details in the map. 3kliks made a great video going over it all. Amazing map, sad it was never officially adopted :(
I loved playing insertion II, I miss the map so much, It was so different compared to other maps in cs and was so fun to play. Me and my friends had so much fun on the map and won most of our games. Valve bring it back
I would say that my favourite map that isn’t in mm now would be swamp. I’m not sure if it was all the spots for trickshots with awp, the glitch spot on the crane or the amazing visuals and actual gameplay of the map. It’s something I find my myself missing when wanting to queue for some different maps along with sea side, mutiny and even workout.
I do really wish season was in the map pool it's always been a fun map for me with loads of strategy opportunities as well as interesting gun fights and the rework looks and feels great to play
my favourite one was de_engaged. it is bright and you can clearly see the enemy. similarly goes for two wingman maps de_elysion and de_guard. interesting to defend and to attach and also very clear maps.
Swamp is one of my favorite maps. I had a lot of fun playing MM on it. I also tried out the version of the map where places with wather slow you down and it created a lot of intreresting situations. I would like to see that version of the map to be added into the game or to add that game mechanic to a new map.
although I'd like old 1.6 maps be reintegrated into the pool (like tuscan), I think breach was a pretty fun map that could breathe some life into the game. might need some tweaking but the barebones are pretty good with some unique ideas like the site with the servers.
Like most of the other people in the comment section, I have to give my thoughts to cobblestone! In my opinion it was or still is a really good map with great aesthetics! An idea to your next vis about cobblestone, talk about the history. All the insane and important plays that was made on the map by pro players!
My favourite map that is forgotten, possibly for being a hoatage map, and being very unbalanced is cs_assault. Loved it in every version of the game, but the source one is the most nostalgic to me.
I think my favourite map would have to be Insertion. Although not a competitively viable map by any means, I definitely hold some nostalgia for the period of CSGO where it was part of an operation. The idea of having such a large open map with multiple spawn points for Counter-Terrorists was very novel. Insertion took a lot of risks and I wish more maps would do the same.
same, too bad a had a potato at the time and not my zen 2 rig. And insertion really fixed one major problem about hostage mode which is the camp happy T's in both round phases, if the rescue areas were closer to run to, it wouldve out shine the defuse for a bit.
From me the map missing from the competitive and actually from the game rn is Aztec i loved the aesthetic of that map the pyramid the fact that's easier to learn sniping (even if i hated to get sniped too) it's nostalgic from me and it was the first map I've ever played in CS source, it's wonderful in all aspect and have a lot of good aesthetic i guess the only map that can reproduce that is Cobblestone and the Italian map that was released in 2018 or 2017 where there's a bridge and water... Those map didn't feel like an empty cube like dust 2 they felt alive and like a real place that exist in ours world. It was immersive and that's why I loved it they where more based on immersion than competition... I'm glad i discovered your channel and i will subscribe now good luck to the 100k !
As for the maps, Insertion 2 is definitely one of my favorites of all time. It feels like it was labored with all the care in the world, and playing in it gives you a surprisingly atmospheric vibe. But I also want to say that I truly love the light you bring to aspects of the game which normally get overlooked and the analysis you provide. I genuinely cannot wait to see future videos you have in store.
My favorite map that is missing is Engage. It reminds me a lot of Nuke, with the contrast of big and small areas. The T side lobby, which is huge and great for being anywhere you want for holding or rotating. The A site, which is also very large and has several great entrances and 2 different levels to hold or take the site from, it was really fun to play A. B, being the exact opposite of A, with its cramped feel and fewer entrances, and it makes it a lot easier to take with the right utility. And mid, being a long AWP range, with the team that wins mid getting to control the round. And also the aesthetic, with the big car holding place on A site, and the car frames moving through mid and by A, and the entrance to the factory or dealership at CT spawn, and also the B site and mid with the car blueprints and the offices, it really makes a great map. I wish they would add it back in so I could play with real people and not just bots.
Favorite map (same as the one I highlighted in the survey) is Basalt. Its a super simple map, but it has an amazing color pallet and that simplicity gave way to a lot of creativity. The lack of an overly complicated layout meant that it was easy to sight read and players who played it a lot could learn the best ways to address different situations that arose only on that map
Easily my favorite map has to be Nuke. It's fun to play, has a great variety of environments between the outdoors area and indoors inside the power plant, and has a lot of cool movement tech that is possible thanks to its verticality.
The map I miss the most is definitely cs_assault. I have good memories of me and my friends camping in the small room saying stupid stuff over voice chat.
Hey Penguin your video quality is just awesome! My favourite map thats not currently playable, is de_log. It was a part of the operation bloodhound in 2015, when i started playing the game, so it has a great feeling of nostalgia to me
Imo, both Insertion and Insertion II had something special about them. I also enjoyed playing them in Comp. The changed dynamic of these maps was something new and fresh. Also, it was a nice change from the usual "meta" gameplay.
Cobblestone or Cbble has got to be my favorite map; the medievel design just makes everything look so damn good, not to mention I feel it was really fun to play in a competetive environement.
I think out of the currently non-competitive maps I like militia the most (including the remake). Unlike most other CS:GO maps, (the most popular ones especially) it actually looks like it could be a real place. Take mirage mid for example, it's a street that leads nowhere on both sides, or the entirety of apps on inferno look like they could house a grand total of one or two people. Militia is different in this and has all the rooms a real house like that would have. The experience of playing on it was also surprisingly fun and balanced, given how one sided it was on paper prior to the Christmas remake.
Insertion 2 was a really fun map while it lasted, since its so unique compared to the standard layouts. Getting on the roof of the main building was cool and gave you some nice opportunities to snipe across the map, and the deployment options gave you an extra layer of strategy each round.
Glad to see the algorithm gods have picked up on your channel, keep on climbing! For maps I adored de_abbey , played it on mapcore and later grinded it when it was added officially, its still the map with my highest winrate at almost 80%. It worked, it was fluent and it looked great, like a village an hour away from de_inferno. I still miss it :(
i really loved insertion 2 when it was around. It played so differently than any other csgo map and there was a ton of movement stuff you could do on it which i wish more maps had
The longer I play CS the more I miss Aztec. It will always hold a special place in my heart, being my first CS:GO map I ever played, and still one of the nicest looking maps with all the effects on. It's really interesting and unique, if a bit unbalanced.
Aztec is very memorable for extremely different gameplay in terms of sites being incredibly hard to get control of and hold down as well as awkward angles of verticality. A map I also miss is cobblestone. I still wonder why it’s gone to this day.
de_elysion for wingman matches was an awesome map, both from graphical and gameplay standpoint. Bit of an shame that it only lasted until the next map rotation.
This is bound to be a common answer, but Cobblestone is by far my favourite map removed from comp. And while not technically removed, I much preferred Inferno and Nuke before their remakes, they have a completely different feel to them now.
the map i miss the most is zoo. introduced first in op bloodhound circa 2015 and brought back (2020? 2021?) briefly before being removed again. played it with my friends in high school all summer, became a "zoo team", it brings back great memories today.
My favourite map is still Cobblestone to this day, the map was so interesting, with some unique ideas like dropper on B. Might just be nostalgia hitting hard though :D
If we are talking maps that used to be in the que, definately cobblestone, i grew up on that map, but if are talking non competitive maps too, any of the old operation mission maps were really fun to play, especially with friends
My favorite map that's gone is definitely Aztec. Started playing on late 2015 and I remember being on that map a lot while on deathmatch. It really makes me nostalgic thinking about it, it reminds me of getting better at the basics of the game!
Great video, smart comments. I think also people need to realize it is amazingly difficult to make a competitive map in csgo. There are many aspects of a map that need to work in balance, and as you said small things can have very big effects.
I started actually playing cs:go really late when covid started so I never played it in competitive, but I would like to see cobblestone be returned to active duty. I used to watch csgo content and watching games played on cobblestone was always great.
Love the content! I’m pretty new to CSGO, but I’ve been playing some old maps in custom games with friends and I really like Zoo. A lot of my friends complain about some of the long sightlines like on A site but I love the funny callouts and it’s just a really creative idea for a map.
Congrats for so many new subscribers! I've seen some of your last videos, seems like algortihm gave you its blessing haha About the map... Aztec was the first map I played on and has a lot of meaning to me. Although now there is Ancient, I still miss those green pavements.
the thing about those Inferno changes is that most people wanted the pillars/dark room to be gone, to the point that most community map reworks at the time altered both those areas in some way - it wasn't really Valve making changes, it was the community complaining about certain areas and Valve responding appropriately
honestly, Im really racking my brain to think of the last time i saw cs_italy in the ranked pool, has gotta be several years at this point, definitely a throwback classic i still enjoy whenever i see it in the casual map vote pool for hostage situation.
Being fairly new to CS:GO of a few years. I got into CS just before they took away cobble. I basically knew nothing about CS maps other than having heard about dust. When I first started, cobble just felt nice to play in. It had interesting places to defend from like chicken coop/fountain to the wagon area. The whole castle layout was super cool too and having the drop area with the barrels was always an interesting area to fight at. It stood out more than any other map. Every part of it was fun to play in and is still fun to run around in queueing up some demo there.
There's so many maps that deserve a comeback! I've heard it mentioned a bunch, especially recently, but CS should really keep rotating maps more constantly. Cobble is obvious, but there's so many maps that could be incredible if they got the overpass treatment. I think this counts for so so many maps: Grind, Mocha, Subzero, Favela, Engage, Zoo, Coast, Apollo. I feel like at least half the maps that were featured in an operation had an interesting style and some fun gameplay elements that weren't given the chance to develop. I feel like rotating the map pool, especially when actively finding ways to improve them for their comeback whenever they're out of the pool, could make cs a lot more interesting. It'd hopefully result in a bit of a development/improvement cycle for maps, making it so that maps keep improving. It might also give more people the inspiration and motivation to actually give making a map a serious go when it's a very realistic possibility that your map gets picked up for a rotation.
Cobble! I never really played much before 2018, but after discovering CS, I fell in love with cbble's aesthetic and all the maps played on it felt relly interesting!
I haven't been playing for long but out of all the maps I've played not in rotation I think I'd enjoy playing cobble the most. Partly because of its unique aesthetic and party because the mix of tight corridors and open courtyards seems like it wouldn't limit you to only a couple weapon types
I'm still very new to csgo so i don't know about so many maps. But i do like cobblestone since it reminds me of old european castles aswell as it awakens the medieval loving kid in me
I can't believe Zoo hasn't come back yet, when that map was in the competitive pool I ranked up from Nova 2 to DMG in the span of a month! I will never forget my pre aim spots as well as flash throws no one ever covered. BRING IT BACK.
My favorite maps in Counter Strike are some from Operation Hydra because that the time around when I actually first started playing the game. My most liked are “Insertion” (it was my favorite map) and Lite. I picked lite not because of the map or something but because that’s the first map I played on. I love having memories.
Cobblestone was really the map that worked for me so well with the layout and also design, i love the castle vibe around it and i always liked playing on this map
cs_assault was my favorite map, I have a lot of memories with my friend who passed away a few months ago, he was the only one of my friends with whom I could make beautiful memories and every time I enter counter strike I remember memories with him
I suppose this also counts towards "not currently playable in competitive": Lake and Safehouse. Well, they are not playable because they aren't real defusal maps, but I just love these maps both visually and gameplay wise but the only place you could see them is Wingman (and let's be real, who even plays wingman)
I think that my favorite map of csgo that isn't playable in competitive is Anubis, is a really good map! but it needs a rework, maybe changing some colors or boxes places.
I would say mine and my friends favorite map is insertion 2. The amount of fun we had on that map is probably one of the highest. Camping in the coop store with sawed offs was fun.
the cache rework felt really good, after not playing the game for a while and coming back the only thing i really noticed was mid window on ct side and it only took 1 or 2 rounds to get used to
Ruby was a good map.
GGS!
Damn hahq

well hostage mode is flawed in general , but i think 3kliksphilip way of fixing it by ct having a quick exit after rescuing is a neat take.

I dont know if wingman counts but I really miss Guard. The layout was pretty sick which made defending and attacking the bombsite feel pretty well balanced imo. Congrats on the channel popping off you definetly deserve it.
Cobblestone has got to be my favorite old map, there have been so many hype moments on that map, I just kinda smile when I think about it
Insertion 1 is my favorite map, tho insertion 2 is a close second.
7:18 oh man…
when released i really like de_subzero, with the cool second underground way to get to A and the unique easthetics with some storytelling in the scenery.
Amazing map, sad it was never officially adopted :(
yeah it was a lot of fun
Santorini is absolutely my all time favorite. Not because of any mechanical feature, but the aesthetic was really cool and memorable.
I loved playing insertion II, I miss the map so much, It was so different compared to other maps in cs and was so fun to play. Me and my friends had so much fun on the map and won most of our games. Valve bring it back
insertion II fan rise up
INSERTION II GOATED
My favourite map is cobblestone. I miss playing comps on it. Definitely one of the more interesting maps to watch as well.
although I'd like old 1.6 maps be reintegrated into the pool (like tuscan), I think breach was a pretty fun map that could breathe some life into the game. might need some tweaking but the barebones are pretty good with some unique ideas like the site with the servers.
put oilrig and havana in there :troll: perhaps italy too
Like most of the other people in the comment section, I have to give my thoughts to cobblestone!
Duuude, i loved Assault too!
I do love both 1.6 and Source versions
Oh yeah, the duct entrance was totally T sided but i loved playing it too since 1.6
@@imtoolazyforaprofilepic4961 Yea, 1.6 has those crazy security camers that was juat the icing on the cake 😂
@@OperatorMax1993 de_assault master race 😎
@@lukaloridon3032 average de_dust2 fan Vs average de_assault enjoyer 😎
I'm really missing basalt. It's such a well rounded map with nice timings and a lot of variety to play rounds out on that map
Just found your channel and I've got to say you have really interesting and well made videos.
I loved the insertion series, If only they had a pool for them as their own maps.
Cobblestone or Cbble has got to be my favorite map; the medievel design just makes everything look so damn good, not to mention I feel it was really fun to play in a competetive environement.
cobblestone is my most favorite map sadly its gone :(
I think out of the currently non-competitive maps I like militia the most (including the remake).
I miss it a lot
The map i miss the most from the competitive pool is cache. Man what a good map that was.
If we are talking maps that used to be in the que, definately cobblestone, i grew up on that map, but if are talking non competitive maps too, any of the old operation mission maps were really fun to play, especially with friends
old cobblestone is definitely a banger was so good and it gives me so much nostalgia i play cobblestone with my friends sometimes at the workshop
My favorite map that's gone is definitely Aztec. Started playing on late 2015 and I remember being on that map a lot while on deathmatch. It really makes me nostalgic thinking about it, it reminds me of getting better at the basics of the game!
I loved runboosting onto the poles on Assault. It was so much fun seeing people look around for you but not looking up enough.
Don't forget you could boost again to get ontop of the buildings near the steaircase/door
Congrats on 33k subs man. Your growth has been CRAZY lately
I've seen some of your last videos, seems like algortihm gave you its blessing haha
About the map... Aztec was the first map I played on and has a lot of meaning to me. Although now there is Ancient, I still miss those green pavements.
Wow, honestly, good job on gaining so much following that quickly, I mean you 100 percent deserve it.
the thing about those Inferno changes is that most people wanted the pillars/dark room to be gone, to the point that most community map reworks at the time altered both those areas in some way - it wasn't really Valve making changes, it was the community complaining about certain areas and Valve responding appropriately
honestly, Im really racking my brain to think of the last time i saw cs_italy in the ranked pool, has gotta be several years at this point, definitely a throwback classic i still enjoy whenever i see it in the casual map vote pool for hostage situation.
Cobblestone will always have a special place in my heart, as it was the first map I’ve ever played when I was 12, with csgo being my first videogame
Cobblestone always felt different, and was really sad to see it gone whern I rejoined to play cs in 2023
I'm still very new to csgo so i don't know about so many maps.
Insertion II. I got massive amounts of enjoyment from how bizarre and different it was. Playing with a 5 que was so much fun and I miss it.
cs_assault was my favorite map, I have a lot of memories with my friend who passed away a few months ago, he was the only one of my friends with whom I could make beautiful memories and every time I enter counter strike I remember memories with him
I suppose this also counts towards "not currently playable in competitive": Lake and Safehouse.
Camping in the coop store with sawed offs was fun.
the cache rework felt really good, after not playing the game for a while and coming back the only thing i really noticed was mid window on ct side and it only took 1 or 2 rounds to get used to
my favorite map that currently isnt in comp is def biome, so unique and pleasing to look at
