Thanks brother, it’s always an honor to learn from the best. You are an awesome teacher that makes it very easy to understand, and even makes it exciting to go out and fish the techniques.
Love your videos my friend. There is only one thing I have to keep doing while wacthing your videos: adjusting the volume lol!!! you go from 10 to 100 decibels in one sentence so quickly, my kid asked "me why is this guy screaming daddy?" I told her that you are just passionate about what you do and want to make sure students like me are paying attention lol!!! Learned a lot from you Mike :-)
This is a timely video review for myself! I constantly struggle with what line size and type to use with so many different techniques in bass fishing. Thank you for putting this together....
Fluorocarbon has stretch but the small amount of stretch it actually has requires a much higher amount of pressure to stretch. I use fluorocarbon mainly because I like it's sensitivity even when your slack line. That's where it shines. Braids nice too and heaps better than it was years ago.
You missed Copolymer. I always tell my exhibition and seminar attendees, that Copolymer has the look of mono, but the feel of braid as it has no stretch. 43 rods with Copolymer 1 with mono for cranks and one with braid, for a topwater application. I use Fluorocarbon for leader material only, Take care my friend.
I'll stay with monofilament line for my reel's never a problem even on the bottom baits. For the last 25 years like my dad and grandfather did the last 80 years what I got told by my grandfather and his stuff I still have 🤫
What is the top selling braid on the market? .. Ok I've been using mono for 30 years now and I'm wanting to step up my game,as far as walking the pond banks go...
yep, I use braid for all my fishing. I love not needing to set the hook like a crazy man. When the fish bites, often they set the hook themself, and I just apply steady backward pressure.
Hey man do you or anyone you fish with use swivel hooks. It seems like everyone just ties their leaders on so for bass fishing I'm not sure of the use of swivels
Swivels work great, you mean the ones with a clip you can put the lure on, right? a lot of times though on smaller baits it will impede the action a little. So a direct tie is important with some baits imho. Ike has another video where he says he always used a swivel with about an 18” leader above his super fluke style baits.
Hey Ike, I love the vids. This one was great. One question I have is what are you using for your spool holders on the shelves. I’ve been thinking of how I want to do a spooling station and yours looks great. I just didn’t know the best way to hold the spools and tension them.
That’s a great question. It depends. Most float. Some sink. And some are neutrally buoyant(suspends.) Even the ones that float Wednesday game water can start to sink a little bit. And the ones that sink don’t really sink like mono. So it’s not that clear cut. But most people will say Float.
This was awesome mike i would of got more information on what line for jerkbait i know you got video about it but would of been cool to add a little to this video
Can you talk more about the characteristics of the different line up Berkley offers in fishing line. There is so many different ones Berkley has and it makes it kinda confusing. I get mono, floor, and braid. But there is 5 different monos, why? What’s so different in them that they need 5 different monos? For example x9 and x5 why two different ones, I get that’s an easy one but it’s just an example! It would be a long video I get that but it would be a huge help in witch ones to buy for what it’s for. I know I’m not the only one with this question.
I can help you. In europe Braid is used 90% of fishing. Many people in america says ,,dont use braid for crankbaits becouse the hook will shake off. It will if you got an stiff rod but if you have an medium light action the rod will compensate the non strecht in braid. Over here in sweden almost everybody use braid with flour carbon leader for zander and perch and even pike but then the flor carbon must be thick. Braid is the best line for all around fishing if you use the right rod. i guess bass Bass is similar in mouth as an euorpean perch and then for crankbait use a medium light rod. X9 vs X5 is that x9 have 9 strand wowen compare to 5. Its make the line smooth and less sounding. The berkley x9 is an fantastic line. have it on all my reels both spinning and baitcast. But the best thing with braid is that you feel the smallest little bite on the lure and you dont need to do a monster hook set.
??? It's 2020 Ike. There's also co-polymer, Fluoro coated hybrids, and superlines such as Fireline or Nano. Some will say Co-poly is the same as mono but it absolutely is not, especially the better brands. If you take the same lb. test co-poly and mono, co-poly has a thinner diameter, less stretch, is more sensitive, has slightly less memory, and is more supple, all of which means it casts farther. Co-poly is by far superior to traditional mono, especially that 1950's Trilene red label garbage. I don't know, one would think a "pro" would know this; maybe he does and this is just a Berkeley promotion.
Braid stretches but not as much as mono . You said 0 stretch i'me calling you out on this one. Also braid breaks under rough cover. Mono handles rough cover better where braid breaks . Don't have a boat mono all the way. On a boat deep water braid all the way . But from shore no rocks or sunken structure braid or top water. If there's cover your gonna loose 💯 percent more gear and fish. On braid. So braid has a place but it's not a god line. If your only fishing from the banks your looking for all around fishing in mixed cover. Mono wins hands down. On a boat braid hands down you can move from heavy cover and see it on depth finder. Us bank fishing guys have to deal with heavy cover and rocks braid is very bad in that area. So your fishing tips are only good if you own a boat. I hate you guys I fish from the banks how you guys make braid sound like it's good for that so I found out the hard way I tossed 900 yards of braid that was new for mono oh yes mono I can feel every thing braid I could not. Fishing mono I cought 20 fish 1 rod three braided rods 3 fish you can't feel the fish riding bait on braid you can on mono.
Thanks brother, it’s always an honor to learn from the best. You are an awesome teacher that makes it very easy to understand, and even makes it exciting to go out and fish the techniques.

Hey Ike: You covered the properties AND the applications of the 3 types very well. Nicely explained.
Helped me choice line for the girlfriends rods we r setting up while watching thank u
Nice spooling station.
how about adding a bit of forgiving stretch via a mono leader on braid?
Tell you a about the line storage and spooling system behind you!!! Please?
What are those line spool hangers? I want some that’s an awesome setup!
👍Good info I like using braid with some leader of fluro
I'll stay with monofilament line for my reel's never a problem even on the bottom baits. For the last 25 years like my dad and grandfather did the last 80 years what I got told by my grandfather and his stuff I still have 🤫

Good but about when you add fluorocarbon leader to each line braid or mono, how that would change the properties of each line, Please advice
yep, I use braid for all my fishing. I love not needing to set the hook like a crazy man. When the fish bites, often they set the hook themself, and I just apply steady backward pressure.
What's your choice for white perch and Stripped Bass
A heap of money in fishing line on that wall!
Probably got it all from sponsors, that would be so awesome
thank you IKE
Great video
Thanks Mike, that really clarifies things for me!
Great tips as always Mike!
What about river 4mph current 15ft water with rocks
I use braid with floro leader, and have great success with it. Miss you fishing Bassmaster classic.

I’ve been hung up on 8lb. Braid and pulled trees outta the water 🤣🎣
what braid?
What about Polycarbon..
Does braid float or sink?

Hey mike. I’m new to bait casting. I m trying to figure out if I should be using braid to a Fluor leader or straight Fluor? Any tips?

Because I like your enthusiasm, you sir, have just earned a subscriber
Thanks Mr White! I appreciate that! Welcome!
Big Ike! It’s Italianbassmaster_14. Dropping comment. Hope I win one of those baitcasters! Stay safe brother. Fugetaboutit!
Great timing, just getting ready to replace old line on spinning reel... thnx. 😊😉👍😎🎣
Does the small diameter braid help in windy conditions?
Helps a lot in current!
What proper size of line may be chosen for a Baitcasing reel has 8 kilograms / 17.6 pounds of drag?

Hey where is 1r1r
What I learned is I need to upgrade my spool station, Ike’s set up is insane
Mike...a legend...just don't need to shout in your vids. Tone it down, the microphone works great.
I didn't know 20 lbs of Braid is the same as 8 lbs of Mono...
The diameter of the line
