Thanks! I've only assembled BMC A-series and Ford Kent motors myself. I'm just about to do the clutch on my 318iS (and in the process replace the heavy dual-mass flywheel with a lightweight flywheel). I asked the flywheel supplier about the timing trigger and he said it's on the crankshaft not the flywheel. I tried verifying that with Haynes manual but it's a hopeless confusing multi-part mess. However your video shows at 10:20 a thing that looks like a big straight-cut gear that can only be a timing disc. A picture is worth 1000 words (or 10,000 in the case of Haynes' literary epic!) I'm saving your video for later reference in case I ever have to do the motor.
Why didint u cleaned all the rust from inside the block? With oil running through engine rust will break and leasest thing u need in bearings and pump shit like that...
Darius Alavocius hey man I think it must be the light to be honest, this block was fresh out of parts washer and I honed the bores and lined honed crack caps and seats Cheers
