Interesting way to command your oxen. Down here in South America we would tie each end of a lead rope to each oxens outer ear, and a joining cord bounding together each of their inner horns, through a carved hole on it's tips. That way we can skip a lot of the training time that oxen require to be able to work, and have a better grasp on them when traveling along roads, and in operations where there has to be a firm control of the team

I'm doing some research on Plymouth Rock. In a book by Thacher, he wrote that "30 yoke of oxen" were brought down to pull Plymouth rock up to Town Hall (in 1774). Plymouth Rock ended up splitting and most of it remained behind. Anyway, my dumb question is, is saying "30 yoke of oxen" the correct way to say it, and does 30 yoke mean "60" oxen? thanks.

Hey Neighbor, I like watching you work your animals. I would like to know what your whip is made from or where I might find one like it? I have a similar length whip from the feed store but it's all bendy and limp compared to yours.
