TillersInternational
Добавлен 12 июн 2008
Tillers International works to master historical rural skills so they can be reapplied in adapted form to solve the challenges facing rural communities around the world. Tillers believes that rural development can build on the insights of rural history to find low-cost means of increasing food production. New science is available to blend with history to create micro-solutions. Localizing the re-invention process is critical to supporting efforts to transition to less petroleum-based, less capital-intensive farming technologies. "Modern" high-tech farm practices are too costly for most of the small-scale farms of the world. Further, making them available to over a billion struggling farmers in their current form would only accelerate the use of petroleum. Tillers finds localized solutions using alternative energies such as ox and horse power to be more practical. We blend historical rural tools with new low-cost practices to answer local challenges. Using a localized process, Tillers builds local trainers into rural leaders and village artisans into re-inventors. We think this will lead to a more sustainable rural development.

The Martin Ditcher is a simple and clever tool used while making a road. Pulled by draft animals, the tool carves a neat edge and creates a little ditch along your road. It's just one of many tools you can use when working with a team of draft horses, oxen, or donkeys. We have helped communities in Central America make their own versions of Martin Ditchers and this video shows a few seconds of ...

What breed of oxen are these
😊
This is pretty neat. ❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing.
You talk to mashed
wow, this is magic
I think what I like about this besides the self-reliance aspect is how its much less noisy than normal farm work with a tractor
Load the hay, dont throw it down😮
Thank you for sharing.
A very nice team.
I’m amazed at how well they are trained. I raise a couple Holstein steers each year, and I sell them in the fall. It’s hard to part with them because they turn into pets. So I think next year I will just keep them as pets and possibly turn them into oxen.
Learned a bunch in this video, thanks a lot
1:08 Waking in and trampling the crop with a arse kicking for you when I was a kid around these machines
This is no longer necessary. I saw people whipping a cow in the face today to control them at a fair on display. It was absolutely excessive and unnecessary. Straight up animal abuse
Thank you for the video 🇿🇼
Bullock drivers in Australia have a 5 yoke 10 head hitch and when he calls each by name they come stand in line at exactly the right place....is awesome just to watch him yoke up..he logs with them and takes all 10 to get job done...
Put a chain around it. The tongs ..useless
Can you confirm or deny something that I have heard from my grandparents. Do oxen have a preference to be on the left or on the right? I have heard when a left ox dies you need to buy another left ox to complete a pair.
I need one bad and a sulky plow to
👍👍
What breed are they?
Great job guys
Never been around oxen, seems inefficient, takes two people, one to operate the implement and the other to operate the oxen.
Do you wash these animals? Thay dirty
sun dial -0.04
I like to twitch out logs on a small yarding sled to keep them cleaner for cutting. I use a single steer in the wood to maneuver easily around stumps and trees.
oxen are really something all that power.. legendary.. thank you for your videos ..!
Hi ..my dad told me about these things they used them as you said too dig house basements foundations. Your showing scraping the surface Its easy and fills the scraper imediateley .. If you ever get a chance too dig 7 feet down into clay that would be something historic would love too see that too. smiles. Thanks a Bunch from Ohio.
Do your oxen ever play, try to bunt you?
Isn't it a touch dangerous to stand behind a horse? They can kick unexpectedly.
How to order to buy
The McxcOrmick reaper was invented in 1831. Fundamental parts of it have been incorporated in every grain/grass harvester and combine ever since. These two fundamental features are the rotating mechanism in the front that stands the grain up to be cut, and the clipping mechanism which actually cuts the grain. You can see these functioning in this video, and on every combine you will see. After 190 years, no one has improved upon these basic elements of the mechanical harvester, invented by a blacksmith working with hand tools.
Have you considered using a log arch/hauler with your oxen to move logs out of the woods?
Very informative!
what cattle breed is that?
ল ন
Please tell me where you can buy such a thing
WHY do you think McCormick put a bat real on his first machine? It was a 4 bat for horses. Id think youd want a 6 bat for bulls
What the hell am I watching?
Sorry, was busier earlier, but yep, I think Woody is still giving away his woodworking book, but I'm not so sure. I managed to get it go'ogling Woody Hyezmar, and was surprised to see his "Woodworking Bible" up for grabs, hope this helps.
