YesSSSs! Rockne S. O'Bannon and Brian Henson have been teasing a continuation for years but it just never gets the opportunity to see the light of day. Maybe they can do a mo-cap animated series, as the stars are getting a little long in the tooth. Even if they add new characters to be the focus (like Crichton's and Aeryn's son), I'd still want the original cast to have significant roles.
The guardians comics were very different from the movie version at least until the movies came out. James Gunn is on record admitting that Farscape was a major influence on his guardians. He even gave Ben Browder a cameo in guardians 2
Groot is more like a combination of Pilot and Zhaan. Remember at the end of the first season it is revealed that Zhaan is a plant evolved alien. So is Groot.
Yeah I agree with these observations. I've only recently begun to watch Farscape and the similarities of the characters are undeniable. Add to that I'm currently in Season 2 and there is an episode where the group lands on a space station that is a skeletal head of a giant creature floating in space. That one really stood out to me as evidence of near rip off.
The line up and stories behind the og guardians which include charlie 27, martinex, starhawk and vance lastro do not really relate to the story of farscape. this is to say that i feel that farscape was very orignial. the line up of today's gotg was not seen until the 200'0's with star lord as the lead. These are my comparisons with each character between farscape and gotg: star lord is crichton, drax is dargo, gamora is erin, rocket is rygel, and groot is actually zhaan because they are both actually plant species. Zhann's genes are considered to be flora derived and is a sentient plant species. One can say that once chiana came on she resembled nebula.
Yes, Farscape was original. If Farscape had an inspiration, it was perhaps the original Ulysses. And maybe Dr. Who. And in 2005 it was an inspiration for the New Who.
I wonder what Sci-fi Show he would rip off next. Babylon 5, Cleopatra 2525 or Lexx. Well I guess Hollywood won´t allow a rip off from Lexx. Too much naked Skin
When Ben Browder saw Guardians, he said, "Oh. Someone stole our show." He met James Gunn and jokingly said oh you stole our show and Gunn admitted, yes, in fact, he did. 😄 And as others have pointed out, Browder had a cameo in GoG2.
BTW, after thinking about it. Guardians 3 seems to be lifting from the Farscape episode "DNA Mad Scientist"....Namtar experimenting with DNA from different creatures to create the perfect being by splicing beneficial dna into his own dna. The basic story is so close it is a bit odd...even if it is in the comics. Namtar, IMO, is a much better character than the High Evolutionary though. It is one of the best Farscape episodes...and I love how it ends. I love both Farscape and Guardians. I miss both.
When you read Rotten Tomatoes, you should be reading the critics average score not the overall score. The overall score is the % of critics that like it vs the % that hated it. The average is when they take the scores that all the critics gave the movie and average it out on a 10 scale. This movie got roughly a 8/10 average score on RT.

James Gunn is famously a Farscape fan though. He even cast Ben Browder as the Sovereign Admiral in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2...!
So conclusion: Farscape is one of the best Sci-Fi shows ever and we want more of it!

Though I loved Guardians (at least the first one, the others were meh), Farscape is FAR superior.
