What is with Owlcat and Voice acting. The entire game should be voice acted. And don't give me "the cost" explanation because ever since the Console version/free PC update of Divinity Original Sin 1 came out in 2015, all of Larian's games have been fully voiced. I really liked that the patch changed the abilities so you’ll see the result and not the math (unless you want to). It just seems cleaner and more user friendly.
So I decided that DLC coming out is a great excuse for a one more full run. So, on Daring: - Kibellah is an absolute beast in early game, up until early-mid Act 2 she carries really hard. Later she is still decent and does have her moments, but nowhere as much as Argenta or Idira. - Her voice acting didn't really click with me, in most cases it lacks nuance that you'd expect after hearing genuinely brilliant cast of the original game. She does have a few great moments, but overall is decent at best. - Music slays again, I want to hug the composers so much. It's on the original game's level of awesomeness. - Every second or so battle in DLC had softlocked on me at least once, often more. Other than that the game seemed pretty stable. And they finally (almost) fixed Jae's certificate quest and it only took them slightly less than a year, yay! - Blade dancer is an interesting class, executioner... not so much. It's capable of dishing out pretty good burst damage, it's just boring and half the talents make less than zero sense. - Story-wise it's more of the same Rogue Trader, no more, no less. Rogue Trader is in my top-5 games of all time precisely because of story and writing, so no complaints from me here. - Space battles are still boring, new mechanics are underwhelming, except for fighters equipment, this one is nice, though underdeveloped (dear Owlcat, would it kill you to make a dedicated button to make them go back, instead of automatically picking them up whenever you're near?) - DLC fights are really damn cool - well, except for the one at the end of Kibellah's story line, that one is some Uralon level of "wtf were they thinking". - Heavy bolter-wielding Argenta and pyro Idira are still capable of obliterating anything and everything in sight within one-two turns. Can't complain, love them both. - New characters and locations are mostly cool and memorable, though I feel that the game could utilize them a lot more. Overall, it's a damn solid DLC. Like you said, if you liked the original - you will like this one, if not - then not.
Thank you. Owlcat did reach out and clarify that there is voice acting in the DLC, just not in the version I received. Your version should be good to go.

@@SlanderedGaming LOL -- well, this is why it's important to be transparent about the versions you review, I guess! (Regardless, I've already bought the DLC.)
I already bought the season pass since I love Owlcat, but my experience with CRPG studios leads me to believe I should wait half a year to start playing. CRPG games tend to be released in an "incomplete" state. Like base Rogue Trader added so much more voice acting or BG3 adds more content for Dark Urge.
The lack of voice acting in this dlc must have been a stylistic decision. I wont believe that they didnt have the money for it - as they are now actively developing 3 new games and have done really well in terms of sales with WoTR and Rogue Trader.
Or it's intentional concealment before release. A lot of quests changed drastically on original game's release comparing to beta and some of them (if I'm not mistaken) also got voices unrepresented earlier. Sure it's just my guess, but there is a chance imho.
@@OwlcatGames that’s great to know. Didn’t mind the idea of there being no voice acting anyway, thought maybe you were going for a real old school CRPG vibes ! Thanks for more awesome content for this great game !
I couldn't even get my bio psyker to do a basic attack against the very first enemy in the prologue. Wrath might've screwed the pooch on massively overcomplicating the 'secret' ending; and all the puzzle bullshit - but at least it LETS you have an assigned (and easy to find) Basic Attack. : / * I have looked up controller layouts = there is no button that I saw for Attack on Xbox Series X
Hey, Slandered. Can you confirm that the big chainsaw/circular saw looking weapon the enemies were using in the trailer can be picked up and equipped by the player? About to start a melee heretic run and would fricking love to have that.
There's enough to do a run it's just that they won't sink into heresy with you. They just won't leave. Abelard, Kibellah, Marazhai, Idira, Cassia, Jae and Pasqal will all stay.
@@SlanderedGaming Oh yeah man, the music was probably my favorite part of the game, it did a great job at setting the tone for the game. The game play was solid but I wasn't a fan of the time limit they put on it, I hear they are doing away with the timer of part 2.
I can't wait for this to drop. I stopped playing before the turn nerf patches and decided to wait for the first DLC to start a new playthrough. I am really worried about the captain nerfs. Those extra turns were glorious.
So fun fact....much of this DLC-content...the deathcult swords and armor, the blood phial items and skills...they've been in the game for MONTHS. Since June at least. You could access alot of it through the Toybox mod. Is that normal? Cuz it just makes me suspect we're being charged money for cut content that's been rebranded as "DLC"
@@SlanderedGaming The swords and armor did at least. They dripped blood, looked cool. Did their damage and effects. It was gnarly. I just shrugged and figured it was either cut content, or things you only get some from obscure choice/quest/class/background combos. I didn't try the blood phials though. The full description was in there for them but seemed so alien to everything else I thought it best not to mess with it. But genestealer knives, and other interesting items and feats i've come across in Toybox but never found in-game all seem to work. Now I can't help but wonder how much of this is going to be repackaged and sold to us later.
now i am curious how far they go with further dlc maby a Null companion? maby another spacemarine? we still need our salamander, which would be the closest spacemarine legion to iconoclast
The lack of voice acting, even in the main story, is hard to deal with in this day and age. However, after just messing around with Last Epoch I can say with confidence "no voice acting is far better than bad voice acting." Holy hell half the lines in that game sound like they forced an intern into a sound booth and said "read this sport" It's incredibly distracting and immersion breaking. One of the bosses in the main campaign literally delivers a line that sounds like a dalek from doctor who, pitch just randomly jumping all over the place. Sadly, I can't see myself giving owlcat more money for this game. I bought it on launch day, couldn't finish the game due to run-ending bugs. Tried another playthru, found another run-ending bug. I actually reinstalled the game a week ago and beat it finally, and while both of those bugs were patched out, there are a slew of new bugs that were all over the main story. Seeing as how the last major update before this was June, I have to assume these bugs have been rolling around for months. The fact they're pushing a paid DLC while the main campaign that came out a year ago isn't fluid yet is too big a pill to swallow for me.
Is this DLC like a separate campaign you can just jump into? Or is it a "better start a new playthrough cause it happens somewhere in the middle" situation?
This DLC adds extra content in Acts 1, 2, and 4. If your character is already in four then the content from the previously Acts will automatically trigger and you'll just be overleveled for it.
Have not yet gotten to the dlc, but in having started a new playthrough the problems i had with it on first playthrough are back. The story feels way to shallow, the amount of maps they made one offs could have been made into more maps for the 3 main planets at least, we get very few npcs to get interested in, aside from footfall they are barely touched and revisited and by trying to tie it all together it just leads to the whole being an uncaracterized mess, there is no antagonists up until you get to the drukari, only a faceless mass of cultists and the occasional one off leader of the problems of the 3 planets. Its wrath of the righteous but without the multitude of things keeping you entertained, the companions are completly static since their questlines are quick to do and mostly are single objectives once per 1 to 2 acts. Then the ending comes out of left field and its done.
@SlanderedGaming Dose Henrix have a part in the DLC story? Being a Ordo Xenos agent makes me think he would have a lot to say about the Genestealer cult.
I'm gonna give it a few months. If WoTR was any indication, Owlcat has a way of letting thei DLC marinate and improve quality of life features and fixes so I'll wait on another pass of the game before committing to a fresh playthrough.
They added a really cool space battle and now you can switch between different types of ammo when firing shots. Outside of that I don't believe any changes have been made.
Thanks for the review. It sounds like my cup of tea. I'm anxiously waiting until it is available on GOG (my chosen platform) because I want to do romance with her with my dogmatic operative pyromancer 😉
Rogue Trader is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the Warhammer universe. I talk more about it in my review: ruclips.net/video/lI9Th9XP8vE/видео.html
I'm not sure why I watch these videos because I don't intend to play the game. Too brutal a setting for my liking. I guess I'm just curious about RPGs in general and like your coverage.
loved the story, loved the combat, almost everything except the warp to each planet... that was a dreadful implementation that i wish would be overhauled. it's not intuitive, it's not fun, it's a mess... it feels more RNG than wow classic at its worst - hell it's not even to the lore or i'd be able to go ANYWHERE but they'd be risks involved... but there's pathways like we're playing babylon 5. gawd even thinking about it. nah...
Meh, I did a heretic playthorugh, but it was super disappointing. There is no subtlety being heretic in this game, just mindless cruelty and idiocy. And what is way more emersion breaking is that your dogmatic companions (Argenta and Heinrix) are totally cool til the chapter 4 whith all of the heretical stuff.

Man you have such a great radio voice.
Thank you!!
* I have looked up controller layouts = there is no button that I saw for Attack on Xbox Series X
What a well done video. Entertaining and informational . Did you study Journalism ? Subbed
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Cant wait to play again, thanks man!
My pleasure!
Hey, Slandered.
Can you confirm that the big chainsaw/circular saw looking weapon the enemies were using in the trailer can be picked up and equipped by the player?
About to start a melee heretic run and would fricking love to have that.
Hmmmmm good question I don't remember running into that weapon honestly.
Thanks for the video. DLC looking nice.
My pleasure!
I want to do a Heretic run but worried there still are not really enough heretic leaning companions.
There's enough to do a run it's just that they won't sink into heresy with you. They just won't leave. Abelard, Kibellah, Marazhai, Idira, Cassia, Jae and Pasqal will all stay.
@SlanderedGaming ah thanks for the clarification. Shame we can't damn more souls though
Hope you're having an absolutely fantastic day
Thank you! So far so good!
Did you play the turn based strategy Mecnanicus a few years ago? This game looks very similar to that and curious on your take about the comparison.
Nope but I heard the music in it is amazing. I definitely plan to play Mechanicus 2.
@@SlanderedGaming Oh yeah man, the music was probably my favorite part of the game, it did a great job at setting the tone for the game. The game play was solid but I wasn't a fan of the time limit they put on it, I hear they are doing away with the timer of part 2.
Ahhh can't wait to get home and play this
Awesome hope you like it!
I can't wait for this to drop. I stopped playing before the turn nerf patches and decided to wait for the first DLC to start a new playthrough. I am really worried about the captain nerfs. Those extra turns were glorious.
Officer is nerfed but it still feels powerful and the balancing isn't too bad from what I experienced.
Yeah, the lack of voice acting made me less inclined to finish the dlc because it's really dialog heavy.
Hmmm or we are being charged money that Owlcat didn't have time to fully refine for the main game? Did the mechanics work properly beforehand?
@@SlanderedGaming The swords and armor did at least. They dripped blood, looked cool. Did their damage and effects. It was gnarly. I just shrugged and figured it was either cut content, or things you only get some from obscure choice/quest/class/background combos.
I didn't try the blood phials though. The full description was in there for them but seemed so alien to everything else I thought it best not to mess with it. But genestealer knives, and other interesting items and feats i've come across in Toybox but never found in-game all seem to work. Now I can't help but wonder how much of this is going to be repackaged and sold to us later.
now i am curious how far they go with further dlc
maby a Null companion? maby another spacemarine? we still need our salamander, which would be the closest spacemarine legion to iconoclast
The next DLC will add Warhammer's version of a cop. I forgot their name.
@@SlanderedGaming Adeptus Arbites
@@SlanderedGaming Thanks!
Then the ending comes out of left field and its done.
is the new excutioner archetype good for Heinrix? I feel like it would be fitting for him.
Yup he can take poison from Biomancy and even pick up Pyro. It's great for him.
@SlanderedGaming Dose Henrix have a part in the DLC story? Being a Ordo Xenos agent makes me think he would have a lot to say about the Genestealer cult.
Shame about the voice acting but still looks really solid. I'm gonna pick it up.
Actually there is voice acting it just wasn't available in the early version. Rejoice!
I hated the game when it came out could not understand it after space marine I finally gave it a go and love it.
Nice! Glad it finally clicked for you.
I'm waiting for the second dlc to come out before playing the game
Hope it's worth the wait!
I see a new Slandered vid, I press like❤
Thank you! Looking forward to diving back into Skald when you have new content!
All hail the Heresy of Algorithmo, the click-god!
Thank You for another well-researched and informative video, Slandered! 😊
My pleasure!
Is there any recommendation at what level we should start the DLC?
The DLC will automatically trigger at appropriate times. No need to be concerned with your level.
Thanks for the video
My pleasure!
Hi Samori, any new music bangers in DLC?
Yes the Choir Master gets a new song that you hear every time you are on his level!
I'm gonna give it a few months. If WoTR was any indication, Owlcat has a way of letting thei DLC marinate and improve quality of life features and fixes so I'll wait on another pass of the game before committing to a fresh playthrough.
Did they update the space combat in any way?
They added a really cool space battle and now you can switch between different types of ammo when firing shots. Outside of that I don't believe any changes have been made.
@@SlanderedGaming Shame was hoping for a little more but I'll get it anyway, it's such a great game!
Whats kibellah convictions levels?
She goes up to Dogmatic - Votary.
Abelard, announce to this High Lord that his opinions are correct
LOL Thank you!
Can we romance Kibellah?
Yup I talk about her romance in this video.
Abelard tell the dlc I think it’s amazing.
It really is!
Now the question we all want to know... Is Kibellah a Heretic or a Fanatic? 😁
Seems more like fanatic but your mileage may vary!
cant wait for it, shame about the voice acting but doesnt drop the games rating by much
It does have VA the early review copies didnt thats all
Owlcat confirmed that the full release version of the DLC will have voice acting.
@@SlanderedGaming OMG just got the first new quest line. super intense and so well written! such an excellent DLC
Thanks for the review. It sounds like my cup of tea. I'm anxiously waiting until it is available on GOG (my chosen platform) because I want to do romance with her with my dogmatic operative pyromancer 😉
When I redo a Dogmatic playthrough I'll definitely romance her!
Can I ask... whose Kibellah's VA?
No idea I never heard her during the DLC. Voice acting wasn't in for my version. In the trailer she sounds great but I couldn't pinpoint who she is.
Newbie to warhammer this looks overwhelming but interesting so why is it worth it. It seem tons and tons of hours.
Rogue Trader is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the Warhammer universe. I talk more about it in my review: ruclips.net/video/lI9Th9XP8vE/видео.html
It has yet to be released ;-;
I believe it's out now. :)
@@SlanderedGaming good times
👍
I'm not sure why I watch these videos because I don't intend to play the game. Too brutal a setting for my liking.
I guess I'm just curious about RPGs in general and like your coverage.
Whatever the reason I appreciate it!
Cassia is the queenie
Indeed.
Not a single line of dub dialogue? Weird
Turns out there is voice acting it just wasn't available in the early version of the DLC I received.
Ugh, just downloaded here and steam says "corrupt update files" and force me to re-download.
Owlcat being Owlcat I guess...
Rough sorry to hear that.
@@SlanderedGaming Worked the second time. Now the true game starts - deciding for a MC build!
You have a very nice voice
Thank you!!
👍🏾👍🏾💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾
You are a couple hours early!
Greedfall 2 video is dropping at my usual time. :)
loved the story, loved the combat, almost everything except the warp to each planet... that was a dreadful implementation that i wish would be overhauled. it's not intuitive, it's not fun, it's a mess... it feels more RNG than wow classic at its worst - hell it's not even to the lore or i'd be able to go ANYWHERE but they'd be risks involved... but there's pathways like we're playing babylon 5. gawd even thinking about it. nah...
Reducing the danger level of the planets takes a lot of the RNG out of the system.
Cassia best girl...
Yup still standing tall. LOL
WHERE ARE THE GENESTEALERS?!
On your ship plotting. LOL
So basically this is a union busting DLC? XD
😂😂
Meh, I did a heretic playthorugh, but it was super disappointing. There is no subtlety being heretic in this game, just mindless cruelty and idiocy. And what is way more emersion breaking is that your dogmatic companions (Argenta and Heinrix) are totally cool til the chapter 4 whith all of the heretical stuff.
I mean, seelah didnt leave my demon bloodrager until act five in wotr, and no one left for devil (which honestly baffled me at first)
That's why I wanted her to be a companion we can corrupt. The dogmatic companions just don't fit.
I did don’t feel Rogue Trader. Spent 1000+ hours on the pathfinder games and I am a Warhammer fan but I couldn’t get into it at all.
This is a skip for me. 😢
Really? I made it to act 2 before waiting for thr dlc to make a blade dancer but it was my intro to Warhammer 40k and I have been absolutely enthralled by it. The story, combat, mix of Magic and sci-fi, the tactical combat and level of gore. I've been playing hades 2 and a little nine sols to pass the last 2 weeks but its been hard to not think about rogue trader
Damn sorry to hear it.
But why are you complaining about dubbing?
Zelda and Pokémon don't have voice acting and everyone likes them
Zelda and Pokemon are completely different from this type of game. Turns out it does have voice acting and that just wasn't available in the early version.
No voice acting? I'm refunding🙃
Actually it does have VA it's just the early version I received didn't have any. Your version of the DLC will have the usual amount. Owlcat clarified that for me earlier today.
@@SlanderedGaming Thanks for the clarification. I'm just kidding. It would be hard to believe that Owlcat didn't put voice actors in the DLC.
For the Stats!
Thank you I appreciate it!
