I have been waiting so long for more of this rebuild. When it started was when I found and subbed to the channel. I am enjoying lots of the other videos too but have been hanging out to see how this one turns out.
You know, I think that’s about when I subscribed too. Plenty of stuff to ‘back-watch’ while waiting though. Remarkable how ‘loose’ Ben is at presenting these days, compared to the early days with a sheet as a banner!
Silver leaf in the hex holes is a good idea, though I was still hoping to see some neon pink somewhere on that build. Love the carbon fiber scratch plate!
That color is spectacular and I swear a matching painted headstock is so beautiful to me, best addition to any guitar to improve the aesthetics in my opinion.
This whole Build has been Enjoyable to Watch..Not Boring At All....Your Daughter is Blessed to have a Dad Like You..I could smell the Paint when you were Spraying..LOL..Color Looks Fantastic..Looking Forward to the Next Video..👍👍
That guitar looks outstanding! And when the silver leaf is added, that will just improve the impact of the color-shift finish! The way you drilled the body for weight relief is very imaginative, and added a lot to what was already a good looking build. Great job Ben! I hope your daughter appreciates the effort you have put into her guitar.
Great to see you coming back to half-finished projects like this, especially with all the operational changes at Crimson to bring Vintage Tool Shop in-house and all the reorganisation work. Only one question: *fence post hand tool only build conclusion when, Ben?* A hand tool only build would be a great way to promote the relaunch of VTS... Also, even if it is just hand-sawing with the jewellers saw, *wear a damn mask while cutting carbon fibre*! Not much point pouring all your heart into building a guitar for your daughter if you're not around to see her grow up playing it!
Excuse my english. I'm french. No, it's not boring. Always a pleasure to see your work. Particularly with this rebuild. We all see this is something special for you. We know you love what you do. But here we see you love who you are working for. Thanks for sharing.
When you first stated this adventure I was not sure I was going to like it. But after seeing finish on it I absolutely love it. I don't think I would have EVER thought of or attempted anything like it, but you have pulled it off...again. 😉
I am at the end of building a jazz master inspired offset guitar. I have painted it with an anodised purple chrome paint which is almost identical to the finish on this guitar. The result was spectacular.
Not boring at all. Cool to see the project progress - your daughter is going to get an amazing instrument that was built with so much care and love. Lucky girl!
"Go build a guitar" he says. Hmmph. You'll have to settle for me finishing the headstock design for my replacement neck. After decades of dreaming my electric is finally going to have strings that run parallel from nut to saddles. Though to be clear: I'm just doing the design. I've neither the tools nor the skills to make a neck. Oh, and I love this build of yours. That guitar is gorgeous already. Can't wait to see it finished.
This project compelled me to subscribe but after a while I thought you were not going to post any more videos about it. I'm delighted to see it continue. If I was a dad, I would surely go completely overboard with anything I did for my kids so there's quite some vicarious satisfaction in this.
as someone who likes to build stuff I love your videos. And I love even more that this is a gift for a family member! The finish looks amazing, can't wait for the final result!
Been waiting so long for this.....utterly fascinating 😁 In fact I picked up my first guitar this week..!!! You can make my next one 😂 Can't wait to see the finished item and your daughters reaction 👌
There was nothing boring about this episode Ben! It was quite fun! I enjoyed the little trip to the hardware store too. The finish is looking great already and that carbon fiber plate is very cool! Also, really interesting what you did with the pickups. :)
Hey Ben! Wow! I kinda liked the pink in the holes. But sliver foil sounds amazing! The lighter color in the interior is intriguing. Led lights in side? Can’t wait to see the finished product! That color changing paint is a great idea!
Love that finish. The carbon fibre plate works so well. Not a boring episode in the slightest. Also if your just chucking the old scratch plate I'll gladly find a home for it 😉
Kevin McCloud. I am only 45 seconds in and I feel the huge sincerity and passion for something done right that you get from Kevin's summing up of a grand design. Ben your grand designs are just as mammoth just as hard won just as delivered against adversity. OK going to watch the rest of this long awaited episode. thank you for doing this for us.
When you were at the hardware store, you picked up that big nut in the same manner as the holes you made in the guitar. I saw that and thought, There's a cool extra to go along with the guitar, paint it up to look the same and bam, color coordinated stuff to go with her new guitar, and it's got aesthetic connections. Cheers. Glad to see you finishing this.
I'm honored to have someone of your stature validate my use of tooth picks. I find using wooden dowels of all sizes just feels right for many wood working applications including building guitars.
This rebuild is coming along nicely !! Your use of the carbon fiber for the scratch plate is a great idea & I believe I will be doing the same thing for a rebuild of my own !! Thanks for this !!
Perfect match! just like the Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid C-1 in ultra violet, with its purple flip flop and carbon fibre binding all around the body neck and head, beautiful combination!
I had my doubts about colour direction before this but it's your project, your choice. Absolutely no reservations now, it's stunning and the lightening holes now work. I completely get the way your thoughts and ideas work. A bit of creative, unfettered brainstorming followed by assessment and development until the right idea works. By the way, carbon fibre might me 95% carbon in raw and woven form but your sheet is impregnated with epoxy resin so it's probably only 60% carbon. Your thinking is still valid as the carbon weave should still give you the shielding that you need. Not a boring episode at all!
Stunning. I was skeptical of the weight relief, and the sheer amount of work that went into them, but now… wow. I hope Jasmine realises just how much work, attention to detail and love has been poured into this.. well… priceless instrument. I was excited to watch the transformation of this guitar and you have not disappointed. It's your design so I'm sure it'll be wonderful, and so far, I love it. Imho, a 1mm silver/chrome edge to the scratch plate, would look great, but do what you want. I'm sure it'll be amazing.
I really like the look of the guitar and none of the video was in the least bit boring. I especially liked the visit to the fastenings place and wish I could find a use for those big nuts. I prefer having pickup surrounds to not, but it's not my guitar so what I think is irrelevant, though perhaps a little more chrome on that lovely carbon fibre scratchplate wouldn't go amiss. The dome-headed nuts will make great control knobs- I might have a go at replacing the volume knob on my bass with one, though I should wait and see how a professional goes about it.
Ben, I highly recommend sanding sealer (dewaxed shellac. Zinsser sealcoat is a good choice) for coating porous woods before applying finishes. It will prevent finishes from absorbing into the pores and will save time and the amount of finish material will be reduced.

I'd have thought that a Metallic Pink Lip Gloss style colour would look great on a Guitar! I was gonna say for a Girl but thinking about it, I'd quite like one too! With Black Hardware and Pickguard! Sounds amazing! 🤣😂🤣👌
Thanks for continuing to show us the process on this one. I had thought you might have either abandoned the project or had just not filmed the conclusion!
finishing took longer than expected and I had to take a month off to combine the two businesses.. been a CRAZY January :( I am really glad to finally be getting back on top of the builds though.
I enjoyed this episode. You finally made progress on your daughter's guitar. I've been nagging you about this :) I love acorn nuts. Good choice. Looking forward to the silver leafing and the final paint scheme. Take care!
Yes Yes Yes! Finally, someone that gets rid of those awful Philips and or Pozidrive screws! Please continue that crusade! 🙏🏻 And the carbon fiber pick guard looks awesome!
I love it. Im so glad you are putting a Crimson Logo on he headstock. Put a ref to the video under the scratch plate. Guitar body reminds me of the sea of holes segment of the Yellow Submarine Beatles Movie. Video was not too long or boring - it is right in my wheelhouse. 👍

Can't wait to see (and hear) the finished article. As soon as I saw you with those dome nuts, I thought "control knobs!"...
The highlight of this video was the visit to Westin Fasteners, those places are my heaven. If there was something similar local to me, they would know me by name and probably have a parking space allocated to me. I now have their page bookmarked, but it's not the same as going to the shop and just going through the bins. And please say you have something planned for that huge nut! It would take a huge amount of machining but I'm thinking maybe a feature sound hole for an industrial guitar?

Jaz is a very lucky lady. That is looking absolutely awesome. Your videos have inspired me to do some work on a somewhat smashed LP style donor guitar with my dad. Thank you.
Not boring at all, actually, I felt the opposite. The trip to the shop and to Crimson's spray boot made it very refreshing. First-class editing as always. It was a pleasure to watch this episode. Thanks, Ben. 🙂
Hi Ben, the screws as replacements for the pick-up slugs being st/steel, will they work properly? Oh, as I typed, you addressed the subject. So the answer will be revealed later. I wait with bated breath.
I suspect that they won't work.. but now am really interested to see, at the very least it will be an easy fix if they don't and we will all know the answer.
Pro tip: plain weave carbon fiber fabric+resin would create a strong layer under that burl pickguard and keep it together. Also good for broken headstock repairs.
Ben, the machine screws you used to replace the "slugs" in the humbucker may or may not work out, like you questioned, depending on what they were made of. If they are "stainless steel," they may or may not be magnetic, depending on what type of stainless they are. In my limited experience, even magnetic stainless steels aren't as magnetic as "regular" steels, but I've only touched 2 or 3 different types of stainless with a small magnet, which isn't a very good sample. Also, how much weight will those two M12 acorn nuts add? They will/would look awfully cool though! ;) However, will _Jasmine_ think they look cool since her opinion is the only one that really counts on this particular guitar?
YES! This series is what introduced me to your channel and I’m so excited it’s back!! Guitar is looking so good Side note: Whoever is in charge of counting inventory at Wentin Fasteners needs a raise

I suspect that they won't work.. but now am really interested to see, at the very least it will be an easy fix if they don't and we will all know the answer.
I like it because it's very unique and different looking , I love purple and pink.
Pro tip: plain weave carbon fiber fabric+resin would create a strong layer under that burl pickguard and keep it together. Also good for broken headstock repairs.
Thanks for the info! Great idea!
It hasn't been boring at all. Lots of info we don't normally see.
Hexagons and iridescent purple are two of my very favorite things.
YES! This series is what introduced me to your channel and I’m so excited it’s back!! Guitar is looking so good
Side note: Whoever is in charge of counting inventory at Wentin Fasteners needs a raise
