Maddie and Deacon are so much alike, and this scene emphasises it so much.

I love how even though she's 18 he still calls her "baby girl" when she's upset xxx

Chip is such a good damn actor. He really got to shine in seasons 5 and 6 in Connie's absence. How in the hell he didn't win at least one Emmy if not two is beyond me...especially for his scenes with Lennon and Maisy, as well as the death episode in S5. Incredible.

Agreed wholeheartedly! Chip absolutely blew me away in this show. He was always the "funny improv guy", I never knew he could have such depth and be so damn good at it.

Apple does not fall to far from the tree.
Deacon is not dumb when he recognizes a hangover and does not want his daughter to end up like him. alcoholism and addiction is a family disease and if Maddie continues to drink then she could end up like her dad.

I've just gotten into Nashville recently and I've been loving the series. But honestly, I cringe so hard at Maddie's character. It's like the showrunners couldn't decide if they wanted her to be the mature daughter following in Rayna's footsteps or the immature rebel daughter who does what she wants. I know the feeling of being 18 and thinking you know everything about life, but for her to basically say it doesn't matter that the law says drinking age is 21 because she's an adult and she can do whatever she wants just makes her sound stupid. Never mind that if she gets caught she could go to jail, lose her driver's license, and have a criminal record. Being an adult won't matter then, will it ? For someone who is so fragile about other people's opinions of her, Maddie wouldn't like what the media would have to say then. She is so lucky Deacon is easy-going. My parents would have beaten the crap out of me and locked me in the house if I did half of what she did in this series.

I have finish the show an came to the conclusion that it is a really nice show. I love everything from the music to the (drama) stories. But one thing what I dont like is that it seems that one day Teddy is like completly out of their girls life. And that in one epsiode Maddie starts calling him Teddy instead of Dad. I know hes not her "biological father" but that seems so rude. I mean he was there for her from the beginning... I think Deacon did a good job on parenting the two girls but I dont like the way how Maddie treated her "actual" dad by saying his name... They could act like he is still in contact with the girls. And that she names both of them "Dad"....

I agree, it's really frustrating that they even establish that Teddy will be out of jail soon and then they never actually follow through on showing him back in their lives, even just phone calls or texts or something where the actor doesn't appear but writing to suggest they visit or talk to him would be nice. Both girls for different reasons they should have kept that up.

@@Tyler_Mills26 You mean besides the fact that in the show her father is an alcoholic, so he knows how dangerous alcohol can be when used irresponsibly? And besides the fact that it's illegal to drink under the age of 21 in the United States? Those are the big deals

@@sarahniccolls4290 oh is it? I'm from the UK so we can drink when we're 18 although most people start drinking much younger at parties and stuff! But as for her dad being an alcoholic maybe they hadn't told her everything coz they didn't want to scare her? Like maybe they were going to wait until she was of legal age to drink and then warn her of the risks? xxx
