So firstly Greg's point about villa fans taking 500k is disingenuous, Grealish was already getting paid a fortune unlike the vast majority of the holtenders. On Grealish, I doubt many object that he left for 100mill, what many don't like is the revisionist history and he should practically get a statue at VP. Grealish nearly went to spurs when we got relegated if they had offered enough, toyed with Man United after we stayed up and finally went to City so lets forget the loyalty nonsense. Got us promoted...hmm.. check Abraham's goal tally and tell me again it was single handedly Grealish... sorry not buying. Look, he was great for us, left for medals and more money like most players so lets stop with the lets treat him differently rubbish. We booed Ashley Young, we booed Gareth Barry and loads of other good villa players so ditto Grealish. Rant over 😂

    • @placeholdercrh2286
      @placeholdercrh2286 День назад +1

Nail on the head. The revisionists want to tell you he’s a hero who deserves a statue alongside McGregor, but the facts are he’s just like most footballers who leave for something better when they can. So that’s how he gets treated…no big deal.
Also, yeah, some of their talk is just laughable. Also Ashley Young left for big money (not for free😂) the first time, AFTER staying an extra season to captain us thru the post MON season, and that was our last top half finish until Don Unai. Then came back and wanted to stay longer, but was told to look elsewhere (I think his leadership and versatility would’ve earned a few extra points, in hindsight).
      Absolute blindness from journos

Gotta laugh at Grealish fan boys.
He’s just a former player who left for the lottery winners. But if you lot want to add the context like “Villa fan, did so much for us” etc etc then that context can also be used to say that the emotional tie we had to Grealish and the way he’s behaved on the pitch since leaving re diving, remonstration with ref to get players booked and laughing and celebrating with his new friends….its open season for what he had yesterday.

Are you a friend if the Grealish family? 😂 Don’t overreact. He got booed because he broke our hearts after saying “My club, my city”. He wanted to win trophies, fine, the price is losing his hero status. As for the “the £100mil saved us financially” come on Dan, you’re better than that. We wouldn’t have bought all three replacements, we would’ve kept our best player and built. Trophies were more important than being captain at the club his whole family supports, we can all understand the equation he did…

Lads, love the pod, but to be honest I think you MASSIVELY over-egged the handwringing about the Grealish “abuse” yesterday. As a few journos did too. Spent about 10 minutes longer than it needed on it when it could’ve been 2. Know you’re mates with Kev etc…
Totally normal for fans to boo an ex player for the length of the first half that they did. Most boos had gone by HT and fans were enjoying a fantastic performance. If anything, Grealish’s conduct at half time, full time, and the petulant challenge on SJM on 80 minutes got the crowd BACK on his back after most of it has died down.
He’s an opposition player now, no one cares about him or should they. He’s got his trophies, wasn’t instrumental in any of them, thanks for the fee.
Ironic that despite not being from the area, McGinn and the journey/loyalty he has been on has a higher likelihood of going down a “legend” of this era at Villa after this decade than Grealish ever will.

The argument of offering any Villa fan in the holte end £500K but they can’t ever go again to VP, and using that as an analogy for Grealish leaving, is barmy. 😂. Nothing against Greg whatsoever but it doesn’t make sense.
How many of those people would it mean the difference between living pay check to pay check and being able to have some financial stability. You can’t seriously compare Grealish’s situation to that that’s just comical 😂. You’re talking about one of the highest paid, most pampered professions in the world. Was hardly earning a paupers wage at AVFC. Besides, he left for medals not money.
I don’t even blame Grealish for leaving but come on. I don’t agree with the booing either but as Dan says it’s all a bit pantomime, far worse things happen in the world than millionaire premier league player getting boo’d.
There are numerous things Grealish did that didn’t help himself… tacky impersonal statement when he left, diving against us for a penalty, over the top appealing for a yellow yesterday… can’t always have your cake and eat it. We’re always hearing “but look at what that player did for X club” , what about what the club did for that player.

Get off the Grealish fan train.Remember when we were in real financial trouble?. Him and his old man tried to manufacture a move to Spurs, for 5 million, then he tried to manufacture a move to Man Utd before he went to City.Don't make out he's a saint.Look at all the times the club supported him, like when he was passed out drunk in the middle of the street, when he cheated on his partner and the photos were leaked.Worst of all when he couldn't stick to lockdown rules, whilst the rest of us stayed in and couldn't visit our loved ones as they died alone.Grealish ain't no saint.I remember an interview where he couldn't even say what year Villa were formed or didn't know all the names of the stands. His old man is just as bad,he free loaded off the club for years and when Grealish left he went and free loaded at City.He suddenly stopped going to Villa when Grealish left because he was going to have to start paying for things.I think it's sad that you want to hero worship Grealish when based on the body of work John McGinn's done more for Villa than what Grealish ever did.He deserved everything he got yesterday from the crowd and from Emi at HT and Onana at FT. Grealish ain't no Villa fan, compare him to Mark Albrighton he is a proper Villa fan.Chalk and cheese. The man deserves no loyalty from any Villa fan and I won't take anything Gregg says onboard because he doesn't support Villa.I don't know why you even have him on.

I think the big thing with him is the sad reality of how it's ultimately played out. Yes he won the trophies he wanted and that may be enough for a lot of people. It's sad though what his current manager has turned him into and knocked everything that was great about him out of his game.

Jacks attitude goes to far aswel, the way he cries on and on to the ref to get cards against our players, getting in his ex team mates faces, so some fans going OTT can b justifiable aswel

Got alot of respect and appreciation for Grealish because he was a fantastic player for us and let’s be honest he is one of the main reasons we are in the premier league.
In terms of booing him I think fans who pay their money to go to games are entitled to voice their feelings and opinions and if they want to boo him then fair enough that’s up to them.
The Villa fan base clearly has very mixed feelings and opinions about Grealish.

Didn't he only give stick to the Villa fans as a reaction to us giving him stick? Which surely he equally has every right to do?

I get his point, Roger’s waltzed through their midfield, and Tielemans had so much space. When we aren’t able to do that the games are much tighter. Doesn’t mean Villa didn’t play well. However their tactics suited us.

Absolutely agree with all the Grealish stuff, It benefitted everyone involved & made total sense. As soon as he left I didn't care what he said & how he acted as it is all part of football & the player has to say the standard rubbish to endear himself to the new club/fans. We don't miss him as much as he misses us & sad to see the player Pep has moulded him into but not our concern.

People make me laugh moaning about booing grealish . I'm a massive grealish fan but I bood yday. A lot of villa fans who booed him are probably the same as me , they still like grealish but you ain't going to cheer an opponents team and he's an opponent . It's not just him we do It with saka we do It with Bruno we do It vardy basically every team's main threat we do It with to try get in there head and yday it clearly worked as grealish had a poor game

I agee about the booing of Jack Grealish - not needed and disrespectful to a player that did a heck of a lot for the club on and off the pitch, money coming in included. Could he come back to Villa? Not now but never say never. I respect him as a player and he's been a berk at times off the pitch but he's not a bad bloke by any means. Didn't like the booing but I suppose the fans that booed him were trying to put him off his game, and I kind of get that.

I think its fine to boo the boo the opistion players including Grealish, but i can see were he is coming from my first Villa game was in 1953 my life is Aston Villa and would have given my arm to play for them but at the end of the day you play football to win trophies 😊 when he looks back at his career he will have a room full at the highest level,if stayed yes we would call him a legend but that is nothing like trophies 😊

I don't know why he was booed. He's just an opposition player now, bit weird imo. Plus he relishes 'abuse' from fans and normally rises to it. Fortunately Cash battered him from start to finish so he wasn't a threat. Class player for us, nice bloke from what I hear.

Plea to Dan I was hoping you would have linked up with Tom [as we have played 2 German sides]. Also it would be great if you could arrange for Chris to make an odd appearance. I know that people have to move on and and make a living yet nothing compares or can replace the Villa View.

Get Jack back [at some stage] since Pep has ruined him, allow him to play like his old self. That will stop the booing from Villa fans and then he will enjoy again the booing from opposition supporters.
