    My husband and I absolutely love your videos! Last night we had baccala & polenta for the first time. Also, spaghetti of black squid and spaghetti with clams. I would never have tried any of those without your knowledge and encouragement. Thank you so much!

    This is great. Only thing that would be helpful is how to eat someone of the dishes? For example, the mantis shrimp - I have no idea how I would eat it - is there a shell on it and you remove it with knife and fork?

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  5 месяцев назад

      Hi, thank you for your comment! That's a very good question: the mantis shrimps are served without the upper shell, so you typically remove them from the lower shell (with a fork, or even with your hands) and eat them. We'll make sure to film it next time we have them!

    Hi, do you have any recommendations for where to get Tiramisu without alcohol in Venice?

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, that's a tough one! I (Luna) had one at "1000 coffee" near Campo de la Maddalena, but generally I always ask in advance to be 100% sure!

    • @hadia07
      @hadia07 4 месяца назад

      @@NomadCitello Thank you! What do you say in Italian to inquire if the food has alcohol? I want to be sure that there's no alcohol in mine if I decide to buy something.

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  4 месяца назад +1

      Same here (I'm allergic!); You'd say "c'è alcol qui?" where the c'è is pronounced like the "che" in "cherry" and qui like "quit" without the t.
      Make sure you ask about any item on the menu besides pizza: wine is often used in pasta sauces and also in meat/fish entrees.

    Great video! I'm wondering if it is okay to share orders with others at the table. For instance, four antipasti for five people and everyone have a little of everything. Is it permissible to split an entree?

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  Год назад

      Thanks, John! Absolutely yes, sharing is very common in fact. For example, Luna some time ago was having lunch with a couple of friends and they all shared a big "antipasto misto" - and that was the meal! Sure, you could also split an entree, no issues there. Keyword: "da condividere" means "to share".

    We will be going may 7th. We've been to Rome, 7yrs ago. What about tipping in Venice and Florence for meals?

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  Год назад

      Hello Kenneth, tipping is not mandatory nor expected anywhere in Italy. If you feel like you had exceptional service, you can leave a tip as you see fit, but you don't have to. That's part of the reason why getting the bill takes so long: waitstaff don't need to vacate tables in order to get more tips, so there's no incentive for them to bring you the bill!

    I'm gong to Venice but have celiac, this is going to be an issue so I plan on cooking in the rented room's kitchen. I know the grocery stores have gluten free. I'm hoping to find somewhere I can eat out, fingers crossed. Imagine a celiac going to the pasta capital of the world, lol.

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  11 месяцев назад +1

      You'll find several options: look up "gluten free restaurants near me" in Google maps and you'll see quite a few results!

    I will be traveling to Venice next month. One of my traveling companions is allergic to shrimp, will all the ingredient's for a dish be shown on the menu?

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  Год назад

      Typically yes, they should also show the allergens clearly. Make sure they warn the waitstaff though: "sono allergico (allergica in case of a woman) ai crostacei", as that's a very common ingredient.

    • @NomadCitello
