I lived in Verona. The food was Amazing. I tried to explain to people here in the US that Italian food in the US is not like the Italian food in Italy.
Fresh and local ingredients, no added sugar, simple and natural recipes, love for cuisine and our culture. That's it. Having lived in Italy, you also saw the difference in supermarkets. We don't have an infinite selection of products; instead, we have an infinitely smaller selection of fresh and healthy products.
I'm living in Toronto, and during Covid, their opened a restaurant nearby that specialized in Italian flatbread. I went thinking, it'll be like Subway. The breads, the quality of meat, the olives, my mind opened a new portal of flavors. They closed within 1 1/2 years but the tastes, the skill of chefs and how amazing Italian flatbreads are, stays with me to this day. Hope to head to Florence someday
Small world - Torontonian here too! 😆 the one good thing about living in the city is that there are still other options here in Toronto! Guaranteed there are italian bakery sandwich shops hidden around places, always more fun to try than chains
I love how they take so much pride in making each ingredient special. All natural, down to homemade bread. Makes my mouth water and sad our country doesn't have the same passion when it comes to food, taste, ingredients.

That dinner was such a gem. Really authentic Italian cuisine without any of the stereotypical dishes tourists would expect. Italy is far more than pizza and pasta guys.
Florence ITALY THE most beautiful city!!!! All the food OH MY! YOU MARK, EDUARDO, MR. TASTER, AND JEFFREY! What a wonderful food adventure starting with the sandwiches!! The huge foccia bread sandwiches! Just had to be beyond delicious! Then the organ sandwiches stomach liver, etc. Like the one with parsley and chili oils! 120 yrs WOW! The Gelato the best!!! But the elegant resteraunt with the waitress speaking fluent English was nice. Wonderful stunning food. The fettuccine wirh carrot juice and butter, the thin roast beef in butter, the prosciutto, rabbit in the chocolate sauce delicious I bet Mark, lasagna with the potato that was an experience for sure!!! Italy is my favorite country! People so friendly! Glad you and Jeffrey were able to go and show us how Italy is!!!!

I will definitely go back there again and try the tri pini as I missed that last time. Also, I would like to say how much I appreciate what you're doing. I was there in 2019 my son and I tried the cow's stomach lampredotto. All ingredients are fresh including the bread, truffle spread, arugula and cow's stomach doesn't taste like it. Florence is amazing!❤

I love your shows, Mark, and I have watched many of them, but my mouth has never watered as much as seeing this one. If you haven't been to Florence, you must go - and you must go to the Duomo. Take the stairs up inside of it (extra Euro, but so worth it) - the view from the top is nothing less than extraordinary. I wish I'd known about this sandwich shop when I went.

The Duomo, in Piazza Santa Maria Novella is one of the most Amazing Beautiful Duomo/ Church in the World, it's Gothic Style, and at night time it becomes more Beautiful and Impressive! I just went to Thailand with my family we went for 2 weeks from England we all wanted to go because of u mark u made it look so nice and enjoyable there and we even thought we could find u out there but overall it was the holiday of my life
I've been to Florence twice and would love to go back. This a great alternative to that, haha. Amazing city with a rich and important history and super friendly people. You just HAVE to try the delicious sandwiches there.
Most famous for the tourist: local people never go there. You can have the same for less than half the price just going in places that are not in the tourists guides
@@bonnemama2026 if you want to eat schiacciata, you can go to Schiacciateria de' Neri, that's in the same street of Antico Vinaio but its much better for the price. If you want to eat the real Bistecca (florence steak), you can go to Perseus, in Piazza della Libertà (60 euros per person, but it's worth it)
then if you want to eat pasta or main italian dishes (apart from pizza) you can go to "Osteria del Gatto e la Volpe", for pizza Florence is not the best city in Italy but I suggest you "Pizzeria O' Vesuvio" that's really in the centre
and if you want to eat international food I suggest you for kebab "I re d'Egitto" or "Kebab Santa Rosa" (2nd is better bur further from the centre) for sushi "Yagura" and for Mexican Food "Tijuana"

I've eaten at All Antico Vinaio and had those sandwiches and they are exactly as you describe. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. That bread is the best stuff I've ever eaten. Totally worth the trip. I miss Italy so much, I HAVE to make a return trip.

I've been to Florence twice and would love to go back. This a great alternative to that, haha. Amazing city with a rich and important history and super friendly people. You just HAVE to try the delicious sandwiches there.

Most famous for the tourist: local people never go there. You can have the same for less than half the price just going in places that are not in the tourists guides

if you want to eat schiacciata, you can go to Schiacciateria de' Neri, that's in the same street of Antico Vinaio but its much better for the price. If you want to eat the real Bistecca (florence steak), you can go to Perseus, in Piazza della Libertà (60 euros per person, but it's worth it)
then if you want to eat pasta or main italian dishes (apart from pizza) you can go to "Osteria del Gatto e la Volpe",
for pizza Florence is not the best city in Italy but I suggest you "Pizzeria O' Vesuvio" that's really in the centre
and if you want to eat international food I suggest you for kebab "I re d'Egitto" or "Kebab Santa Rosa" (2nd is better bur further from the centre)
for sushi "Yagura" and for Mexican Food "Tijuana"
for Pisa I don't know many places cause I'm from Florence and we hate Pisa people

In two weeks I am going to Nakhon Si Thammarat with my Thai wife and Mark has already prepared the way for our coming family trip with a wonderful video about the best food in this part of Thailand. I've eaten at All Antico Vinaio and had those sandwiches and they are exactly as you describe. Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. That bread is the best stuff I've ever eaten. Totally worth the trip. I miss Italy so much, I HAVE to make a return trip.
