- After nearly 50 years of eye-poking and face-slapping, the Stooges decide to retire and tour the world with their dog, Moose. They start by touring America's national parks, however, with the stooges, it is truly a "kook's tour". This especially proves to be the case, for Larry, who despite his best efforts, simply cannot seem to catch a fish. Larry is driven to the height of frustration as he is continually outfished by Moe, Joe, Moose, and even his own hat!
I saw The Three Stooges in Kansas City in the 1960s , they were brought in to appear at the Shrine Circus, it was at the end of their career but all the kids loved them, they did a few routines and told us not to do their routines because we could get hurt, I loved them as a kid in the 1960s and I love them today in 2023, I saw them on 11-16-1961 , at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City Missouri and they did their act as part of The Shrine Circus
Might not have been as comedic as the shorts, but still would have made a nice travelogue series for older Stooge fans had Larry not suffered his stroke. R.I.P to all the boys.

They were the best. Still watch and laugh even at 69 years old.
Yes the 3 Stooges were a little kinder and gentler in their older years, but still very likable. Not just here in "Kook's Tour" but also in their 1960's cartoon series, which included some color film live segments as "wraparounds". Usually in these segments the Stooges were out camping or at the beach. Yes they were funny, but also just 3 regular guys who were fun to hang out with! A change of pace from the big-ego characters and violent action you normally got from TV in those days. Also "Gold Key" did a great 3 Stooges comic book, including one where they find a magic Persian carpet and go for a ride on it to Baghdad!
They were still hilarious in the twilight of their careers!!
It's strange watching this video. I almost feel sad watching this because I grew up watching and still to this day watch the Stooges with my grandkids and wonder what Shemp and Curly would have been like in their older years. RIP Boys!!
1:38-5:25 music to my ears. Kooks Tour was the end of The Three Stooges’ run that spanned from 1930-1970. In their 40-year run of delivering slapstick comedy on the silver screen, the trio encountered Oscar/Grammy-winner Frank Sinatra twice (on his self-titled television show in 1952, and 4 for Texas in 1963), 19-time Emmy-winner Bob Barker on Truth or Consequences in 1969 (before hosting The Price Is Right from 1972-2007), Lucille Ball in their short Three Little Pigskins, etc. (if only the trio appeared on an episode of Dark Shadows with Tony-winner Jonathan Frid [Barnabas Collins] before Larry’s stroke). RIP Moe Howard (June 19th 1897-May 4th 1975), Larry Fine (October 5th 1902-January 24th 1975), Curly Howard (October 22nd 1903-January 18th 1952), Shemp Howard (March 11th 1895-November 22nd 1955), Joe Besser (August 12th 1907-March 1st 1988), Curly Joe DeRita (July 12th 1909-July 3rd 1993), and Joan Howard Maurer (April 2nd 1927-September 21st 2021)
50 years of performing at this point. That would be the equivalent of an act starting when this movie came out, and just retiring now in nearly 2024. Long time.

I don't know why the stooges pretty much retired after 1964-65, but IF they had done this back in 65-66, it would have I think been a big hit. time ran out for them.
This brings back some wonderful memories for me . I was 17 in 1970 our family along with my 2 uncles and their families had a vacation home up on the shore of Lake Arrowhead in Calif for the previous 10 years or so. What a great time boating , swimming , fishing hiking , water skiing and discovering girls , back home I found my first girlfriend a 15 year old Dutch QT . About 6 years later on the beach in Calif out of the Navy a black Lad adopts me we all called him no name at first thinking the owners would show back up after several weeks I started calling him Buddy and then moose sometimes.I'd never seen this travellog before now......wonderful time in my life.... wonderful look back great show....Thanks
Even though id like to have seen this film in its original vivid color, i hope they dont try to fix it with computer editing software.. to be quite honest, i actually like the natural color degradation of the old film. Like patina on an old car.

Funny tidbit of info here, moe and Larry had the same hair styles towards the end of their lives as they did when they originally met each other through ted Healy!

Big Springs Idaho is on my bucket list. I didn’t know about it until I watched this a couple of years ago. I’ve been through Island Park & up to Yellowstone a lot but now I wished I known about Big Springs sooner or I would have stopped. There’s always next time.
