      Hello Kartikeya, the Turbo CVT costs almost 3 lakhs more than the NA AMT. Is it worth spending the extra 3 lakhs, or does it seem to be spilling out of the VFM basket in general ?

    Great news! Nissan has accomplished what its global competitor Toyota couldn’t - successfully creating high-quality small cars in India. While Toyota struggled to make compact models for the Indian market, Nissan’s approach shines. Yet, one wonders why they haven’t embraced Suzuki’s model of crafting India-specific cars with a global appeal. An India specific Patrol... Mouthwatering

      Datsun was actually Nissan's attempt to embrace suzuki's model, which failed misserably... On the other hand, suzuki's models are having a grip in this country majorly because, there is a huge mob in our country who will buy anything regardless of what the value is, just because there is Maruthi badge on the car. Also there is another chunk of people who rely on this brand, because of their extensive service network, which no other OEM in this country can beat..

    Let me share you my story of choosing a sub 4 meter in 2023. My first thought was Magnite, in 2023. when i just sat on the cabin i knew i needed this car(in showroom). Looked amazing, interior was on point. After that we went to look at the Sonet in showroom, it was premium but my heart was on Magnite(it was my emotional decision). Sonet felt more family car but as a 27 year old enthusiast I really wanted a turbo petrol manual that was only available with Magnite.
    After couple days, the Nissan guys got me a test drive on the base 1.0L engine 72 ps(they said they only had that car on available right now, not the turbo petrol variant). Since Nissan isnt doing huge in India, they had a small showroom with only two cars on display. I used to drive a duster Diesel 2013 and when i drove the Magnite, I was SO DISSAPOINTED by the sound insulation and the engine noise, that the Nissan dealer turn up the radio so that i dont get annoyed by the sound insulation(totally a deal breaker for me). Now after that Sonet was THE only sensible choice left, it was premium and good for the family plus the service center was very close( which was not for nissan). I really wanted a Magnite back then but was heartbroken by the issues it had and the lack of power base engine had. After that i didnt even want to test the turbo petrol, totally disappointed.
    Now after watching this FIRST, Im happy they fixed all these issues and it is well rounded car. I wished Nissan made these changes earlier, Magnite would be sitting in my garage right now. Anyways, Loved this episode of the MotorInc First. All this talk about how amazing magnite facelift has brought back some unresolved feelings. You are probably wondering why Im typing a damn essay in your comment section but even when i drive the sonet dct 1.0 (one could argue its better). I see Magnites on road and Its always head turner for me. Now im just regretting my purchase and its so early on Sonet that changing isnt an option anymore.

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  25 дней назад +7

      Yo M5T! We love the essay. Because, we know how you feel now. So happy to hear how you look at both of them. And enjoy the Sonet. Great little car!

      I'm almost in the same situation here
      Except it was my parents who were against Nissan as a whole. They are a bit unsure of the service network, hence going for the Sonet
      I wish them well, it is a good thing we have some competition in enthusiastic products with Citroen and Nissan.
      It is also too late to change now, still enjoying my Sonet so far

      As you have rightly said in the start "an emotional decision", but then you have made a technical decision. Though now a good car in this and from lower segments, what you have in your garage is still a headturner!! Movement that inspires.

    Just for reference Non Turbo Efficiency actual nos...Manual
    My Magnite is 1500 kms old approx
    City Kolkata
    Average Efficiency: 11-13 kmpl with AC
    Worst: 7.9 km Slow two way traffic with Autos, Rickshaws et al.
    Best: Empty roads, start stop at a few signals, Saturday/ Sunday with AC over a 20km distance...18km
    Without AC Fast moving Office day traffic -16 to 17kmpl
    My previous car was a 2016 WagonR Auto: Few observations....
    WagonR also used to give 13-14km with same driver in the same city.
    Magnite is actually shorter than the Wagon R but sufficient headroom is available even with driver seat in highest position for my 5ft 10in height
    Suzuki engine felt more free revving, but this has appox 5 bhp and 5Nm more...maybe its still running in...
    Weight is 50 to 100kg more depending on variant...940 kg vs 885 kg, so evenly matched power to weight ratios, one would think
    Unlike online comments its never felt underpowered in traffic and keeps up or overtakes quickly enough within the limits of our crowded city.
    Engine settles between 2000 to 3500 rpm within the city...
    I expect the Turbo is a little more thirsty in the same situation
    Best thing, WagonR was top heavy and this one with a lower height, wider track feels better planted.
    Bumps and potholes are dispatched without any concern.

    While I was watching the review, I simultaneously opened another tab on the browser to check what are the features offered by the Magnite, and I have to say it's a lot. I selected the top end variant i.e. CVT with the dual tone paint scheme to see and I am not sure whether or not certain premium and bigger cars offer the same list of features. It's just that good. For Rs. 14.41L on-road in Bangalore, I think this is a really good car to go for.

    The Micra was also a well-made Nissan when it was launched back then. Simple, cute with some reliable engines yet it didn't feel rudimentary and bare basic even tho its equipment levels were basic. I haven't driven the Kicks but heard it was also a good car.

      @amargshukla 26 дней назад +6

      I still have my micra, 11 years and counting. At the time I bought it, it was more expensive than any hatchback but back then the only feature miss I think was the lack of reverse camera which isnt a deal breaker ever. The suspension holds up against today’s sub 4s, the CVT has been brilliant as always. Perfect city car. The got very close to buying the Kicks but the dealerships weren’t interested in selling it… moreover the top spec was manual and the CVT was barebones. Zero features which I thought was a miss a few back.

    I went for a test drive and it feels so effortless and fun to drive. Just love the handling and CVT. Good that Nissan did not add ADAS to this as this keeps price in check and also ADAS makes no sense for India. I wanted little more boot space and sales team mentioned that roof can handle up to 50 kg of weight which was great. This also ticket all boxes for me.
    My only concern is Nissan service centers in Bengaluru. We have only dealer and he has only one service center which is 1 hr away from me (on a good day). They promised this will improve and hopefully I will have somethin nearby.
    Finally the most satisfying part:
    Thank you Guys for making a clean and useful video :-). The great feeling that I closed in on a great car without confusion/FOMO/etc makes buying so much more satisfying.
    I like these in depth and practical discussions instead of specs, cost etc comparison with 5/6 cars in parallel.
    I am more of a ADV bikes guy than cars. So I am exited for one from Shumi on 2025 390 ADV. Hopefully iska nisaana bhi nahi chutega 🙂.

In a market where everybody is hiking their prices and going towards 15 lakh rupees mark. Nissan decide to not change the prices and improve on various fronts. One should buy this car truly instead of an hatchback from suzuki or hyundai. But thank you guys you're a blessing to every automobile enthusiast. I resonate with all that you have said. You even noticed that subtle ‘too peppy aspect’ of pre facelift Magnite, clocked 30k and I am yet to see a reason to use the sports mode button!
    Also did you miss to mention some additions like the cooled glovebox, auto irvm, concealed door lock etc or simply left out.
    I still love the existing alloy design as well as the overall frontal portion which felt cleaner compared to the ‘in the face’ grill section and front bumper in the facelift.
    Planning to change the taillamp as it’s better looking now, also add the new irvm if possible.
    Personally happy that there are no extreme changes that would warrant existing owners of Magnite Turbo CVT like me to go for an exchange, yet rightfully improved and rectified for all the new customers. Good review Motorinc and Good Job Nissan India!

    I bought the Nissan Magnite XV premium+ last year (got delivery on Diwali). So by that time nissan build quality improved.
    there are still rattling nosies on bumpy roads but overall it has reduced or maybe I have gotten used to it (hard to tell 😅)
    I love the design my car than the facelift.
    I love the new tail lamps and I want to get it in my Magnite I asked my service centre and they said they haven't done R&D so whether it will fit or not it only time will tell.
    I want the remote start feature as well (but not exactly a priority),.
    I'm hopping I get it leatherette from after market.
    Coming to engine sometimes there is delay when I try to accelerate from a stop. On highways it feels so good and easy to drive not tiring at all.
    Like all CVTs it shifts up only when you lift off accelerator pedal which is fine.
    I get roughly 9-11 kmpl and on highways it somewhere around 17-19 kmpl.
    Finally I have really old school lock which are those pull pins on top of door near window and in the new magnite they have fixed it so thanks!
    I love that my car does not have sunroof.

    In Tekna they should have brought dual channel dash cam, rear drum brakes, geo fencing, cornering lamp function and underbody engine bay covering atleast. After that it would have been complete
    Like Wagon R it should have an option of 1.2 NA engine too. Most who do city commutes with occasional highway trips would have benefitted from it
    Better than AMT they should have tried offering IMT like KIA provides.
    About Turbo repair costs might be a concern for majority of buyers. So 1.2 Ltr NA with approx 88-90 PS power and 115 NM Torque many customers might have considered. Very few are going for Turbos still. The one on Nissan is 1 Ltr Mpfi Turbo engine and not GDI one like others are providing. Rest of the stuff has got sorted

    In the first gen of magnite/kiger, there used to be a lack of door beading, because of which the a/c performance was affected. Even back then ,it used to cool fast enough, but the cold cabin air used to leak out.. Has this been sorted out in the facelift?
    40:17 coming to the styling aspect- I think this is the right amount of styling.. Not too flashy or overemphasized. Compared to a 3x0 or a Nexon, which are too busy in their front bonet and grills, I feel the magnite has rightly nailed it...

    Hey I own a rediGo and its really good for its price.....you should compare it with alto....rediGO a 800cc car which produces 54bhp....almost 8-10bhp more than a Alto. It has 184mm ground clearance perfect for our road conditions.....I drove through roads filled with deep craters and it took it really well...I drove 450km in one go without any fatigue and at a cruising speed of 90kmph ....it goes upto 135-140 KPH which is very good for its class.....and can easily cruise 90-100 kph in our highways. We indians bought alto in large numbers but ignored rediGO which is a superior product than an Alto. I have driven alto 800 ... Datsun rediGO is a superior product with same price maybe even cheaper than an Alto. Its a shame.... I'll never going to sale my rediGO. Itll be in my garage till it dies....its 58000km on odo now and only issue I encountered is a rattly front arm suspension after a large bump hit on highway at 80kmph speed otherwise it naver gave me any issues....and its in perfect condition mechanically, its 2017 model. And above all it gives me above 24 kmpl if you drive at 80kmph on highways in the winters ...and in hot summer with full AC it gives me about 20kmpl on highways. In city it gives 14-15 on AC and 17 without AC.

    52:26 The Indian Vehicle Manufacturer Association lobbies heavily with the GOI to formulate policies favouring them. That's why, for years, we have had such heavy taxation on imports of cars not manufactured locally. This same body will try to steer the Government away from adopting hybrid tech because then Mahindra and Tata will lose their edge. Very unfortunate state of things but the administrators need to wake up and make informed decisions if they want to see India as a hub for state-of-the-art technology, manufacturing and exporting vehicles. Otherwise, we will continue to get majorly sub par vehicles with a few glimmers of hope here and there.

    Few questions on turbo engines:
    1. Are they reliable on a long term basis i.e. > 5 years
    2. Do they require a warm up duration at engine start and cool down duration before engine switch off
    3. Need to stop during long drives to let them cool down
    4. Need to use only premium fuels?
    Thanks

    • @sooryamalli5644
      @sooryamalli5644 26 дней назад +3

      I don't think any car made for the Indian market needs premium fuel. The gains are too miniscule to actually make a difference in your fuel economy. The difference in FE will be more if you leave the spare wheel at home. Unless it's on the manual regular unleaded will do.

    • @Newbutold
      @Newbutold 26 дней назад +2

      1. they are fairly reliable if maintained as recommended by the brands
      2. Warm is recommended in all engines tbh, read your owner manual and follow accordingly. Personally, I would recommend at least 30sec warm up and then get going slowly not at high revs until engine reaches optimum temperature. Cool down is needed on turbo engines if they have run at high rpm for long time, to let the turbo cool. So, yes you need to let the turbo cars cool down after a spirited drive. Your start stop strategy should take care of that mostly.
      3. I do not agree about stopping frequently in long drives because of your car, it’s based on how frequently need a break. I drove turbo car for hours and 300km+ without stopping, you can also see the endurance testing that VW and Mahindra did, they are all turbo engines and didn’t take a break to shut engine off even during driver change
      4. Premium fuels like XP95 are recommended in VW turbos, not sure about creta, seltos etc. But, I would encourage premium fuel for the extra rev happy and safe it make the engine from bad fuels.
      If you are too afraid of turbo engines, get a NA but you may have to compromise on the dmid range grunt of turbos but will get NA with no turbo lag and better city mileage.

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  25 дней назад +1

      Hey AK, regarding queries 1-3 - modern turbos don’t have these issues. Some basic care is good enough.

      In Norway, weekdays typically started with a shot of espresso, followed by work routine, and ending with beers with them folks.. Also, there are companies that follow 6-week schedule (for example, the clients).. they'd work 6 weeks, and then be gone on holidays for the next 6.. I envied them; it seemed to defy "grass is greener on the other side" analogy..

    The nissan magnite review especially regarding the cvt automatic feel is spot on. I myself have driven Nissan Kicks, Nissan Versa and have faced Nissan Altimas and Maximas on road. Nissan CVT have really sporty feel and it is really easy to drive them fast and even rashly. But their cvt are prone to failure as the company dealership in north America don't change the cvt fluid filter ever(but do sell it as a part and don't encourage people to buy it). Also not changing the cvt fluid every 50000km gives disastrous results to people. With all these cvt transmission issues, and those issues getting outrightly spoken by mechanics and Nissan owners on Facebook, tiktok and RUclips, people aren't buying Nissan cars and rather buy Kia and Hyundai which have better CVT at same price.

So as long as you take it easy it will feel enjoyable. This becomes doubly important with the AMT. Because That has some lag in gear changes / which highlights the lack of performance.
      Hope that helps!

    We need a value comparison between the Nissan Magnite Turbo and the Citroen Basalt Turbo AT.
    If I were to buy an individual car, it would be one of these. I'm ready to take the risk!

    Hey, if this is a benchmark car for Nissan, could this result in more options in the mass market? I feel the only real choices are Maruti and Hyundai.

    Sir thanks for your in-depth review, taking all points clearly, i have also gone with TEKNA rather than TEKNA+. But confused about naturally aspirated or turbo pls suggest. Required as a family car and 1st also. Driving city 60% & HW 40%

      @motorinc  24 дня назад +1

      Hi M, we would recommend the turbo - because with the added performance - it will feel like a car that you could use easily for more things - so you will feel like holding on to it for longer.

    Awesome job, guys! I loved the conversation. In my city, the on-road price of the Magnite is around 14.50 lakhs, which is comparable to some variants of the Sonet and XUV300. I’m also eagerly waiting for the review of the 1.0L manual variant. Thanks for the effort!

    Now if we compare the mid varients of Sonet and magnite, does the added price for sonet justifies?

    Comment section on Magnite video should not be a place to be asking this question, but can we expect a new Verna(NA and Turbo variant) Motorinc video anytime in the near future? I see multiple shorts on the same but not a video where Kartikeya explains how it feels and Shumi sums it up perfectly.
    Anyway, great video, binging Motorinc podcasts with no plans of buying a vehicle in recent time is a fav activity.

    Niissan calls The Magnite as One Car One World = Hope that statement stands good

Will love seeing you in different locations that every machine that you describe is capable off. I will be wishing one of you take the car and the other a bike to a destination and review about it.

    Nissan just launch good cars under 25 lakh bracket
    A hatch under 8lakh
    A suv for rival Creta and seltos
    A suv in xuv700 and harrier category.
    And all products must be made in India just like magnite dont bring in cbu route it would only increase price.
    I just wanted to see Nissan be in the top 5 car makers in India😊❤
