American Underdog tells the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who went from a stocking shelves at a grocery store to a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. The film centers on Warner’s unique story and years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player - but just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife, Brenda (Anna Paquin) and the encouragement of his family, coaches, and teammates that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is. American Underdog is an uplifting story that demonstrates that anything is possible when you have faith, family and determination.

This was a good movie even if you are not a football fan. What the Rams did to Warner after he got injured to try and destroy his career and reputation, and how he made his comeback with the Cardinals, is an equally inspiring story. Not once did he defy odds and prove his skeptics wrong; he did it twice. The story of his comeback career needs to be made into American Underdog 2. It’s shameful what the Rams organization did to him after he brought them out of the cellar of the NFL and made their franchise into a winning respected team with a universal fan base. One of the most talented and humble QBs ever yet hardly any new NFL fan has even heard of him. I hope this movie brings him the recognition he deserves.
You talking about the same organization, at the time, that traded away Jerome Bettis because they though he was already on the down side of his career. At the time of his retirement he was number 5 in the all time rushing yards. He play only 3 years with the Rams.

Must be a Rams thing. They just paid a 800+ million dollar fine to the City/County (and other entities in the area) for their conspiracy to move the franchise to LA against league regulations. Mike Martz was the coach who started Marc Bulger over Kurt Warner. Martz was a good offensive coordinator, but an absolute train wreck of a head coach. The dynasty ended with Kurt Warner no longer taking snaps.
He’s always been my favorite qb. Him and Favre. They’re really different but the duality of them makes me associate them w each other. Plus they’re both gunslingers. This movie was amazing I was crying the whole time 😭🤣
My mom, My family and I have all been Rams fans for decades! I lost my mom on 9-25-01. The last conversation we had was about Kurt Warner and the Rams. She was such a fan! I can't wait to see this movie about him and I know my mom will be seeing it with me as well! RIP Eva 🙏✝KW 13 GOAT!🏈

My wife and I watched today and I must say that it was so refreshing to see such an exceptional movie without the Hollywood cursing, sex scenes or drug use! Kudos to the directors and producers for a phenomenal family cinematic experience!! Highly recommend for all ages.
so, they left out all the things people like to see in movies. Was watching Inglorious Basterds last night. No drugs, but lots of violence and cursing. Love it
Wondering how Brenda took to being represented by a member of the LGBT community? Anna is a the best actress but her physical attractions go beyond Christianity.
My oldest son just gave me the DVD for my birthday. I just watched it, and it is excellent! Prepare yourself to get teary-eyed and choked up. Great story about a great man!

I saw this movie not too long ago. It was so amazing, detailing the rise of Kurt Warner from working in a grocery store to starting in the NFL in five years! I’m glad they stayed true to Kurt’s story! As a Dolphins fan, I have a newfound level of respect for Kurt. Awesome movie and story!

I have just seen this movie. Allow me to say that I am a Ram fan, and thus, a Kurt Warner fan. The movie is very, very well done. It may not thrill every football fan. Still, they stay true to the amazing, amazing Warner story. Kudos to the filmmakers. I was very pleased.

Being from Pittsburgh, I never really followed Warner's career all that closely. But I love the inherent appeal of an underestimated man overcoming the odds. The love and support of his wife. I had tears in my eyes at the end.

This movie was cheap and ugly. No film has ever had worse sets during American football scenes than this.
One of the greatest story in sport, Kurt Warner came out of nowhere and took the Ram to the SB and win.
Possibly, possibly the greatest story in the history of sports. That's up for debate. Yes, the Rams were abysmal in the 90's.

Looks like the muscle Zachary packed on for Shazam helped him with this role as Kurt. Pretty great casting. Unexpected but exciting to see.

Just saw this tonight in a sneak preview. What a FANTASTIC flick about love, determination, defying the odds and loving God. I seriously hope EVERYONE enjoys this film for it's inspiration and for being a very fine family film.
I was lucky enough to see a premier showing of this movie in Oklahoma City. It is really terrific and uplifting. A great story about football but also about faith and family and never giving up. Haven't seen a movie like this in a very long time.

@@seanmac5093 he literally talks about prayer and God throughout this movie lol. He connected with his wife in that way and that was portrayed in the film. He openly talks about faith now too and how it continues to help him. Did you watch the film?
A wonderful movie. Football, romance, faith...solid acting. A really great way to spend a couple hours. I already knew the story from being a football fan----but seeing them bring it to life in a movie was everything I'd hoped it would be.

I'm going to tell you what I hated about this movie, the advertisement for it. I can't believe I hadn't seen any press for it. This was such a great movie and Zachary Levi killed it. This movie was so good and it hits you. I watched Kurt's HOF speech and it shows how they tried to accurately make this movie.

I watched this last night. You cant help but leave the theater feeling somewhat inspired by such a great movie. Acting was surprisingly superb. 8.5/10
I'm thankful i got to see Kurt story up close & personal.. I use to live literally 5 mins from the TWA Dome.. It was a beautiful thing watching the Greatest Show on Turf.. I love a good underdog story& this is true definition of Rags to Riches being on food stamps to NFL Hall of Famer& Superbowl champion& a strong man of God

Funny thing is when I first saw Dennis Quad at the start only knowing the title without knowing what the film was actually about I thought it was like a sequel to the 2002 film The Rookie. Where Dennis Quad plays a High School Baseball coach who made it to the MLB at the age of 35 which is based on a true story. Thought maybe this was gonna be a film about what happened to him after that. But I'm in on a Kurt Warner film

I grew up a Rams fan because thats who my grandpa Followed since they were in LA back in the day. I was the biggest Kurt warner fan and wrote him a letter when I was maybe 8 years old and he responded back(i think). I lost my love for the Rams over time(around the time the Red Sox won their world series that broke the curse) but Kurt was always a Hero to me and is still my favorite player, Kurt and TB12. Me and my Grandpa watched the 1999 super bowl maybe 5000 times on VHS. I couldnt believe the Rams got rid of my hero, if he had won that super bowl in Arizona he might be considered a top 5 QB ever because the greatest show on turf changed football and his impact on the game is up there with the very best.
I love this guy and he has a HUGE heart. Seeing this trailer brings back so many memories, NOT a Rams fan anymore but still the biggest Kurt warner fan i cant wait to watch this.

In 1998 while stationed in Belgium, me and several of my Army buddies drove to Amsterdam to watch the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. I remember remarking to my buddy Rodney that the Admiral’s quarterback was pretty good. His name…Kurt Warner.
Such a feel good movie! My mom keeps saying it’s the best. The life of Kurt’s wife really resembles hers. So lucky that I got to go to the early screening.

I can’t wait to see this movie because even though I’m a Saints fan (yes I know we suck this year lol) I have also followed Kurt since he played at UNI & grew up in my home state of Iowa but his story is inspirational because he never gave up on his dream!!
I was born and raised in Iowa, as an LA Rams fan for reasons I dont even know XD. My mom was his grandmas bank teller in Burlington, and I bagged groceries at the same hy vee he did when I was living in iowa city... oh and finally, my dad still has the unopened wheaties box. 💪💪🍻

Truly one of the greatest stories. So much had to happen for it could get to the hof. I dont know if it tells it in the movie but kurt before signing with the rams was with the packers and was gonna go to chicago but got bit by a spider and couldnt go and was signed by the rams. And if Rodney doesnt injure Trent none of this happens.

1999, A life long Ram fan, I didn't even notice who our QB was until week 4, when I noticed we happened to be 3-0, going in to a week 4 game against the 49'ers. That was always the gauge as to weather the team was doing to be competitive or not any given year, after losing 17 straight to the Niners. I was like, when did that Seattle Running Back become a QB? That morning, in our time zone, I watched that entire game and after that 42-21 victory, like Ike Bruce I cried...because after all those years of losing, we finally had a winner. The one thing, that whole season, I was wondering when a Rookie QB was going to crumble under the pressure. The one thing I learned after that season was, Kurt Warner, and after all it took to get to the NFL...was not going to let pressure bother him. After that, I knew we were Superbowl bound. Adversity builds character, character builds resolve.

Agreed on the Kurt Warner/Curt Warner thing. I was a Penn State and Seahawks fan as a kid and I was a little bummed about this guy kind of burying the accomplishments of the running back Curt Warner. But Kurt more than carved out his own place in NFL legend. Can't wait to see this. I love that they got all the uniforms spot on, including the Iowa Barnstormers. Great uniforms.

Kurt Warner's quarterback replacement on the Iowa barnstormers ended up to be possibly the greatest AFL player of all time. Aaron Garcia, true legend great story as well. So the Iowa barnstormers helped launch two legendary football careers.
I saw him when he was with Jacksonville sharks...def an afl legend in my book..

Damn, I'm getting too emotional with my old age. I read how he met his wife line dancing, how he got dragged to the bar and met her. She had a nine month old and a six year old that is blind from a traumatic brain injury. He showed up at her parents house the next morning with a single rose.

Gotta say, this trailer is a million times better than the teaser that we got a few months ago. I was worried when I saw that, but this film actually looks like it will be pretty good.

People are mostly here for Zachary Levi, me too but I'm also here for Anna Paquin. One of the best actress of her generation
Zach is a fabulous actor, but he's just one part of a wonderful ensemble the Erwin brothers have put together for this.
