@@owlbatross9187 There is one bit of unexplored lore that is infuriating me. The gravestone in the middle of town, behind a fence. Nobody ever mentions or aknowleges it.
Okay so after watching another fantastic video by you, psychedelics and hallucinogens can definitely fit in. Maybe the 'poisoned spring' could be a natural hallucinogenic. Like most hallucinogens if taken in vast amounts one could die like LSD or can be fairly safe like shrooms, which can explain why some people died and others gained the glimmer or insight. A lot of people take psychedelics/hallucinogens to have a spiritual awakening or even have so called visions so I wouldn't be surprised if some people in possum springs experienced what they thought were supernatural happenings. Either way you amazed me once again Owl!!! I also leave here with more thoughts and questions about our beloved game so thank you once again! Until next time my friends!
Thank you so much Super, I appreciate the support! And oh yeah, for sure - psychedelics and hallucinogens can totally fit into all of this. The newspaper articles mention dangerous underground gasses affecting the minds of people in town, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's the real culprit behind all the supernatural happenings. Down the line, once I'm finished with my cult series, I'll be taking a look at the gas theory in greater detail.
@@owlbatross9187 I can't wait for that video! I'm also super excited for the janitor video and to see your take on everything! You're videos have me constantly replaying the game with fresh eyes, which I am thankful for and along with an amazing community i continue to enjoy every video you put out. I'll continue to support your channel anyway I can!!!
That's a cool observation. I never payed any mind to the poison water being mentioned in both the end and the harfest play. The idea the early influence of the Goat being an evil pool of water gives off vibes of AKU from Samurai Jack who had a similar origin. The water couldve been like a residual bubbleup from it crossing into the world similar to how it ended up in The Pit. If the between is like water it could explain the visuals of the cosmic fish from one dream and water flea like creatures shown by the Sky Cat. Im now starting to think that these beings might only be able to visually interpreted as things we can understand and or comprehend rather than what they physically are. Given the Goat was described as having hooves before the best perception of what one could have would be of a goat. It could even be a sea goat like the capricorn constilation since stars and constilations are a common theme in Night in The Woods. It might take some more research on starsigns or cosmology but their could be a link
Honestly, I didn't think about it at all myself until I started trying to piece together the origins of the glimmer! I like the comparison to Samurai Jack - I had forgotten about AKU's origin! Such a great show. I also like your thoughts about the visuals of the cosmic fish and the fleas, they definitely have to connect to all of this somehow!
The play harps on the beaver pelts, which could be a hint in the other direction - fur used to be soaked in mercury and acid to break down the keratin. I'm not sure if the trappers would be doing that part of the process, but it wouldnt be out of left field to have them carrying a bit of mercury around.
For the longest time, I overlooked it myself! It wasn't until I really tried to get to the bottom of the Glimmer that I took a look back at it and pieced everything together!
That's awesome, I'm so glad to hear it! It's such a good game, and I've been doing my best to keep its spirit alive here on the channel! I'm hard at work on the next theory video on the arm!
Oooohhhh! 😻😻😻 Suddenly I remembered considering writing a fanfic that explored, among other things, the Glimmer. It was gonna be my tribute to Alec Holowka, but I was basically too depressed to continue beyond maybe three chapters [that were mostly about Mae and Bea having fun with Lori].
Sounds like a really cool idea to me! In light of Alec's passing and Scott's illness, I think fanfics are now even more important to the community. I can definitely understanding something like that being depressing to work on though, I'd likely feel the same way.
@@owlbatross9187 Maybe I will return to it sometime this year. Finding your channel has been very encouraging. And I had big plans for each of the main characters. 🐈⬛ 🦊🐻🐊🦜🐁
I know we never see the therapist Mae had…but I’m curious if they have some connection too. Did they know Mae was a choice for the cult? He tells her to just bury everything, ignore it, and fill out her journal. Idk, it’s late and I might be over thinking right now.
Great vid as always didn’t know there was so much Lore about this game that i and I’m sure many others didn’t even know about just goes go show that even though this game 7 years old we’re still discovering new things about it can’t wait for your next Video about the arm i’v actually always been wondering about that keep up the great work man 😁 L
Thanks again for the support my friend! One thing I've learned from being a member of the Dark Souls community is that there really is ALWAYS new things to discover in a game, no matter how old it might be. Scott Benson is a huge Soulsborne fan, so I'm not surprised that there's all this lore here, but wow, there's so much more than I ever expected there to be when I started this channel! Can't wait to dive into the arm! Should be a really interesting discussion!
If the well might be how being gain the Glimmer, how do you think the Ed Skudder side of things would've ended up with it if we follow this explanation?
Good question! I think there are a couple possibilities for the Skudder family. I wouldn't be surprised if one of their ancestors was one of the survivors of the incident of the mine, and got the glimmer like Arthur did. But I think it's more likely that after Ed made contact with the Black Goat, it led him down to the water so he could drink from it.
Ok now your just making things up now the glimmer isn’t given to people by water it’s a fragment of our masters power that he lost when he got trapped in that hole and it then somehow got inherited by Borowski how dare you make up a lie about our masters we were already angry about your video on him but now you’ve crossed the line you better watch out purple owl because we’re coming for you just you wait
I mean they aren't mutually exclusive, could be some of the power that split off from the black goat ended up in the water, which then passed on to the various families, and them hearing the goats singing is it calling it's pieces back to it
One important link between the Black goat and Ibon:
The cult leader tells Mae that the Black goat does not talk. it *SINGS*.
Well said! That definitely increases the likelihood of a connection there!
