This should be a how to assemble one of these videos course. Lots of footage of all the boats under sail with the design name for dreamers builders and plan shoppers. Slices of life at camp and a look at your meals. Im so jealous of your great sailing community. You referenced Roger Barnes, well youre the southern equivalent. Really great. Thanks for sharing.
Well I'm not sure I'm a southern Roger, but he was my inspiration to get a boat . We don't have the beautiful little harbours and decades of history, but we do have lakes and a lot of National Parks to explore and you can't beat our weather. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
What a fabulous collection of crafts, and as usual with Paul's offerings, a great video to watch! Didn't see Josh, although he was listed... I expect he'll post his version soon. Cheers, and thank you!
Hi Mike....yes Josh did come along but he wanted to explore the top end of the lake so I only managed to get one shot of him before he took off. The Navigator is a fast boat. Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Good morning Paul thank you for another great video. I always look forward to seeing your latest raid, it’s just wonderful to see so many small boats together in such a great location, especially as it’s your winter down under. Well thanks to your inspiration I have purchased a Stornaway 18( they are very rare here in the UK).I have almost finished repainting and varnishing her and hope to have her on the water within the next few weeks maybe a bit late in our season, but better late than never. Thank you for all your videos much appreciated. Regards Geoff
Wow great Geoff, you must send me some photos to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com I will be over in the U.K. in October maybe we can catch up and have a beer, I will be at Reading, cheers Paul
Thanks for that Paul. You’ve captured well the feel of the raid. It was great to be a part of it and see such a variety of water craft in action. Regards, Mark -Cygnet 20 ‘Tide Rider’
Good stuff Paul. Like many others, we were waiting to see your video I"m pretty sure that was the case. I can't get over how all the boats are so different. Thanks again for your efforts showing all this and how the whole feel of the raid was. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it Ross.As it was only over night I didn't really get a chance to look at the boats in more detail but hopefully in the next one, thanks again, cheers Paul
Always enjoy your video's Paul. The sailing bug has bitten me again. It would be great to see some of the inside layouts you guys have on board your different boats.
Now that was a great raid! Love when you show the boat design names.... and the sailors too! And with 26 boats out, there's a lot to love. Well done! Great shore party, too! Winter coming on here in the Great Lakes region, USA, so we'll be frozen over soon. Your vids will help us get through the freezin' season....
Hi Paul, I watch all your movies. This one is again a beautiful report. What a wonderful atmosphere and such nice boats. And… finally A Pocketship woohoo. Kind regards Arjen Builder of the only Aluminum Pocketship in the world ;-)
Hi, yes it was really nice to see a pocket ship and I think there are 2 in the area...but an aluminium one- now that's a challenge. Please send me a photo to sailingkatelouise@gmail.com cheers Paul
That was awesome!! I love, love, love the variety in Kate's Navy!! 😅The morning drone footage was epic too! I wish I didn't live a half a world away. The sailing and camping community that you are putting together fills my sails!!.............⛵⛵⛵Cheers!
Yet another great video. Thank you Paul. I envy your winter sailing conditions in Oz. A bit different to winter sailing here in the Solent in UK where a drysuit is essential! Jim
I remember sailing at Frensham ponds near Farnham in winter and we had to break up the ice to go sailing.....which doesn't really make a lot of sense. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
I know i say this everytime but yet again you've 18:20 outdone yourself. Whst a great bunch of enthusiasts your posts always bring a smile to my face. Cheers paul please keep it up
Yes next time....I ran out of time on this trip but hopefully many will come again on the next one in a months time. Thanks for watching Andrew, cheers Paul
Amazing! I#m looking forward to finishing mine. Its a big project. I potentially might just reuse the hull. Hopefully my believe in uncensored money will pay out ;D
OMG 27 boats, thats my dream!!! That must have been so enjoyable. Thanks for sharing. Was interested in that removable wooden spray/bow cover Chris had made. I've been striggling to make something from canvass for my Lugger, but I am now thinking wood just may be the answer!
Quite a showing for a winter Raid! Great editing, all inclusive buffet of boats to salivate over. Though there was a bit of disappointment with out a Deb Potato and forgotten item review! 🙂
Well Capt, believe it or not I didn't forget anything this time! and for some reason the Deb potato (with onion) is always very scarce in the shops....plenty of plain which is awful, but not with onion. But do not despair I will keep looking😂 Thanks for watching again, cheers Paul
Hi there Paul, just wanted to say u r a natural in front of the camera. Another top notch vid, well done. U and Roger B' partly inspired me to buy my own ( well with my eldest brother ) small boat, a 19ft Sadler Seawytch, 'Calypso'.
Beautiful that you all can sail in winter. LOL We in the US especially on the great lakes can't. I love watching you all though. It is summer here and I love getting out on the water there is nothing like it!!!
Great John, send me a photo of your boat and some of the area you sail in and I can include it in the next video. Everyone likes to see what sailing on the other side of the world is like, cheers Paul
Hi I often do make them 30 mins, but this time we only went for one night. I'll take a closer look at why people chose the boat they did next time up at Myall lakes. But there are 64 other videos to keep you going until then😄, cheers Paul
I recently found and subscribed to your channel Paul. I love your video work and storytelling. Great editing, music, scene changes and interviews. All around excellent work! I grew up sailing and boatbuilding on the West coast of USA, and then in Costa Rica, but have lived in landlocked state of Colorado in the Rocky Mtns of US for almost 30 years. There's a few small lakes so sailing is pretty limited. Watching your videos allows me to mentally be out on the water again and fantasize about being under sail. I love it!! AWESOME RAID! Oh, almost forgot to comment and congratulate you on your vegetarianism! We've been veg for over 15 yrs and think it's the ONLY way to go. Good on ya mate!
Thanks for the encouragement. I do like both sailing and editing and being able to put both together, is rewarding but always open to any suggestions to keep them interesting. (without bikinis). Send me a photo of you sailing if you have some, would love to share. Cheers Paul
Looks like another great trip Paul, We just did 5 days in Whitsundays, would have been longer but have had a few technical issues. Some wet weather coming, hope to do Gladstone to Yellow Patch next week. Still nice and warm 27 deg each day.
Hi yes a Botteril explorer or 16. Big in the seventies a nice good sized boat for dinghy cruising. Though the purest will say it's not a dinghy ....but does that really matter? Thanks again for watching, cheers Paul
Tremendous camera work, a great sail report. Have to join you next time. The story about the great white shark is true he jumped beside my neighbors fishing boat and he showed me the video. It was to the east of Pulbar. Since the professional fishermen have left the lake there are lots of fish for them.
Hi Brad send me the video, if you can get it off your friend I would love to share it....especially with our smaller dinghies, cheers Paul sailingkatelouise@gmail.com
Hi Francis, well when it started there were mainly small dinghies like Heron's etc. but pretty soon people realised that having a small cabin offers a lot of advantages so people stated buying larger boats with boom tents or cabins. The name never changed and as we have no strict rules it doesn't really matter. Just get out on the water and have some fun, thanks for watching, cheers Paul
Hi Bill, yes there are a few boats with the Gunter rig, I will do a more specific video later. But I think in general the Gunter allows for a higher aspect rig with a shorter mast, compared to the lugsail but is a bit more complicated to hoist. The Gunter would also point better as it's similar to a Marconi rig. I've never had a Gunter rigged boat but I will check with the guys. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul
I think you mean the CLC Pocket ship...we've got 2 in the group, they are popular in the states. If you want to build one or need some info contact me and I'll put you in touch with Terry or Hendrik, cheers Paul
