I have been a lifelong Barry fan for 50 years - ever since "Could It Be Magic?" came out in 1973 when I was 11 years old. I bought all of his albums and singles throughout the 1970s. One thing that young listeners coming to discover Barry don't often realize is that, unlike most singers, he isn't just singing to a musical track pre-recorded by someone else. Barry is an arranger himself and HE did all of his own orchestral musical arranger. So all of the instruments and background vocals -- all of those musical parts -- were composed by him. He made those decisions which went into the songs, so they reflected even more of his talent and sensibilities that just his singing. Barry is a truly talented individual.
This is one of the greatest love songs, ever written in my opinion. I’m 53 years old. I know a lot of music. I’m not a huge lover of soul and R&B, but this right here is one of my favorite songs of all time.
to many he is class, talent, energy...you can feel his music in your soul...he is a great showman, vocalist, piano player, song writer and a very nice guy who has stayed relevant!😊
I am a Fanalow from way back! Thank you for reacting to him, and there is so much more.."Mandy", "Weekend in New England", "This Ones For You", and for fun "Copacabana". You are right Barry is very reserved, private, just a good, sweet soul. Funny, he was Bette Midler's piano player, and he would be all embarrassed by some of her acts. LOL Also, he got his start writing commercial ads. You deserve a break today for McDonalds. You're stuck on Band-aids cause Band-aids are stuck on you, and Like a good neighbor, State farm is there.... and more.
Just saw him about a month ago,& at 79 years old, he can still sing great. He has such talent, can play, hold & sustain all notes& even dance. What a great concert, far surpassing my expectations.
Again, the fantastic talent of Barry Manilow.Thank you for playing this. Now, I am not sure if it is to your taste, but Take That performed , imo, a great up tempo cover of this song.
Ty I haven't heard Barry in years.I grew up hearing him on the school bus in the stores on the car radio.I think we took his talent for granted as kids.tysm
My favorite Manilow song ❤ Very dramatic with the Chopin prelude and very passionate. This one sounded like a bit shortened or faster version to me than the studio version or other live performances I've seen. Maybe because it was for a TV performance. But check those others out too.
Sunrise , this one is for you , I made it through the rain even now , Linda song , I write the songs , I went to 8 of concerts and today , my kid is an artist , , the list goes on did I mention , he wrote for commercials,❤
I have seen him sing this Live he starts off with this version (his version) and goes into Take That's Cover as he said he was impressed with what they did when singing one of his tunes
I was just listening to this song and decided to hop online to find some reactions to it. Just discovered you, just subbed. Really enjoyed your reactions--they were thoughtful and expressive. I was 12 when this song came out and in my early-late teens when Barry Manilow was at the height of his career. It was a simpler time and artists actually had to have talent. Nice to see you react to this gem. Do check out the album version--it's the definitive version.
What a song, I first heard this track in the 90s by a British boy band called 'Take That' and I didn't realise it was a cover until my mother played this for me. This live version isn't as good as the studio track but still good 👌
i find this song torturous....yeah he takes his time. the pacing is painful and builds toward ...nothing. unfulfillment should be the name of this trite cliche ridden clunker

Can you react to come back in one piece feat DMX

And for this song you mustn’t forget Adrienne Anderson with whom he wrote it!
Plus Chopin too 😉
Manilow was his own auto-tune when auto-tune was not a thing. Just sheer, raw, awesome talent!

Another hit by Barry. Keep reacting to his songs. BTW, check out Donna Summer's version of this song-it's a real banger!

Finally got to see him in concert about 10 yrs ago. Just amazing. I am a manilow fan for life!
I'm going to see him in Concert next month here in Florida. You are a "Fan-i-low"!
Barry is an amazing artist. He wrote so many songs for other singers. Actually Donna Summer has a version of this song, also really good.
Love Barry, one of my favs.
Love me some Barry M.

You guys are so sweet, I love your adorable analysis of Barry. He was so young there. I feel so old!!

My favorite Manilow song. Just gorgeous and incredibly romantic. Fantastic orchestration.
Donna Summer soon after turned this into a disco classic. With Barry's blessing, of course!
What an artist! That was an experience! You’ll love “Weekend In New England” as well- one of his most popular too!
The other great performance for this song came from the fantastic Donna Summer RIP 🌟

You described it perfectly. Its like a magic carpet ride throughout the whole song. Wow!!! What a masterpiece.
The into is actually a Chopin movement.
"Looks like we Made It". Amazing song.
Welcome to ‘70s ballads!
Barry….wrote so many. A great hit you might know…..Mandy
I love to hear him do ‘Mandy’
Impressive. Long ago….100% natural. No auto tune. Live. Pretty good Mr. Barry
The Donna Summer version is also a jewel
Try ( I write the songs ) next
Could there be a better song about your first time with the one you love? There isn't...
It wasn't cool to like this guys stuff back in the early 70s. but now, its cool to at least appreciate the class of it.
Your husband is taking you into all kinds of juandras of music grow with him .
While this is the original and great, Donna Summer did a remake of this song, and it is 🔥
Would have been better without so much violin. His piano arrangement is amazing
Please listen to Donna Summer's version. Barry wrote this but Donna owns it!
Barry is not reserved at all!!!
