    Hi Christo , I grew up in Ontario and knew and played golf with Moe several times . Your analysis IMO is very good . I can offer you a couple of things that Moe used to stress you have probably already heard them but I will add to it . First - as you mentioned Moe was genius in that he always tried to swing the club as simply as possible hence the setup like you pointed out . also in his set up his right elbow is almost already preset to fold at the top of the backswing - it made for less moving parts. Once he got to the top - he called it - sit , buckle, slide and bump . That was the sequences that he called his downswing - sit was literally a siting type motion - where his hips started to move downward - buckle was his knees buckling - or moving downward - slide is the lateral motion you mentioned - and bump is how he referred to Impact. I should also say Moe was never distance oriented - however he hit the ball is how far he hit the ball - he would always say he was strictly technique oriented - and that is not insignificant - that is all he ever concerned himself with - and that is the outcome he derived from it . He was nearly robotic in that he did the same thing over and over and over. Lastly - as you mentioned his right arm through impact - that is something that he consciously practiced all the time. He had a big coin that he kept in his pocket - like a silver dollar - and he would place it on the ground - down the target line - and he always practiced stretching for that coin - He would demonstrate his right arm/ hand reaching as far after the ball as he could trying to extend that to the target - he called it shaking hands with the flag . In a pure analysis that is not completely accurate as it would take the club off of plane - if you look at 10:03-10:04 you will see it - I knew his over a period of 25-30 years and some things he would say about the swing would change from time to time - but that always stayed constant . I hope this is valuable to you in some way - great job and thank you for continuing to recognize his brilliance . He was publicly shy , but he was not offended by being considered the greatest to ever do it - so I have no doubt he would enjoy that people continue referencing his mastery of ball striking .

    Christo! This was the different perspective I needed. I've been an academy member of GGA for 3 years, and nothing they say is incorrect, but this analysis and your video about Hogan's trail hand grip have slapped me in the face with what I needed. Please don't tell Todd. Actually, if I get really good you should because it could only help them. I'll let you know ;)

    I followed MO on the course in Canada, I also followed Jack and Lee, but it was MO who impressed me the most! Every strike pure and dead straight every time. Unfortunately there's only a couple old videos that showed he took the club closer to parallel when in his prime.
    Honored to have seen it for myself and to have a conversation with him that lasted 3 holes. Trying to be respectful I tried to move away but he kept talking while striking a 3 wood! Incredible!

    The head bobbing up and down i think is a great way to swing. Hard to sway if your first move is a little bit up, plus it makes it much easier to squat and use the ground properly. Great way to have good rhythm and timing as well

    Another great video Christo. Over the top is ok as long as the clubhead is travelling along the target line at impact.

      Exactly. We have confused terms in golf. Bad golfers go OTT and OUT to IN. Many great golfers go OTT and on plane.

    I used to swing super consistently over the top when I was a newer golfer. Then I started increasing my golf IQ and learned I was “wrong,” and began trying to “fix” my swing. I’ve never been as consistent as I used to be again.

    Moe videos show two different swings, one was the "Natural Golf" palm grip, face the ball at impact, the other was Moe's normal swing (like Graves Golf Teaches) anyone watching the Over the top swing better understand you still come into the ball from the inside, it is easy to be TOO over the top and come into the ball from the outside which is the common among new golfers and big time slicers.

    Look at Jack Nicklaus’s swing. His setup and swing remained the same through the years. He always lifted that left foot, turned his head before the swing and of course made his power move through the ball. Consistency! Jack struggled with putting, but his drives were the strongest part of his game.

    Watching Norman's driver swing... one thing is apparent. His lead knee is bent at impact... who else did this and was considered the most accurate of his day? Byron Nelson!!!
    Everyone today wants to straighten and "snap" the lead leg on the downswing.
    So my question to you is this.... what role does keeping the lead leg bent during impact and maybe even moving beyond the foot, play in keeping the club on line and producing "straight" shots?
    Should we stop straightening and snapping the lead knee and keep that knee bent?

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  Год назад +1

      There’s a couple long drive guys who still hit into a bent knee. Nicklaus played well with that!!! Right?

    • @steveking2144
      @steveking2144 Год назад

      I'm watching another channel... and he's showing some top pros at impact. Rory has a bent knee at impact and to me the greatest bent knee swing of all time is Byron Nelson.... So the other day I was there just a "straightening and a snapping that left knee" and I started topping the ball!!! Uggh! When I concentrated on keeping the front knee bent I was making way better contact. @@MiracleSwingExperience

    Here's a youtube video of Byron Nelson's swing. They put a swing tracer on him. If you fast forward to 1:28 of the video, you can see the "Over the top" move on the downswing. You could use that for a video. Thought you'd be interested in that.

    Jac 4338 is misinformed Hogan's handle path on the downswing is slightly outside the handle path of the backswing, had to be with a swing that flat, any dropping would be disaster

  • @Aloha96789
    @Aloha96789 7 месяцев назад

    You call it over the top but it shouldn't be confused with the OTT that involves early extension and raising the handle. The latter being the OTT that causes people so much grief with their swing.

  • @jac4338

    If you were to put that "dot" on his sacrum (base of the spine) you would see that like most good ball strikers, there is an initial slight movement forward and then a re-centring until impact after which the "cleared" hips move toward the tardet during release and follow-through. Just part of the rotary aspect of a good, centred, swing path.
