Im 65 and started a month or so ago with Moe Normans- Todd Graves style of Golf. I am now a convert to the single plane style. I can now hit straight high Iron shots 9 out of 10 times and feel control of what I do with the club. I want to thank you for all you do for golf. I now have the training aids, book and video showing all you need to know how to learn this style, plus all your RUclips vids help..
I finally felt the Moe "vertical drop". The "AH HA" moment is at the 2:00 mark - turning of the UPPER body, no arms. What a difference it makes to the swing versus just moving the arms! WOW 😍 Now, everything is in-sync to impact. Thank you Todd & Graves Golf 🙏🙏🙏 ps IMHO, this video & Todd's "Rethink" series of RUclips has to be the best & most constructive videos to explain the Single Plane Swing anywhere. Never, ever going back to the back breaking 2 plane swing ever again
I have been using the SPS for over six years now and always have experienced difficulty with the transition. After watching this video it was an epiphany for me and immediately went to my practice station to try it and “hey presto” I felt the movement and there was not even any thought process involved, it just flowed. Thank you Todd for this and all your great teaching that both you and Tim provide. Golf is an enjoyable sport now and not something to do with trepidation.
Todd, thanks for relentlessly posting these videos! I'm a slow learner and also not in a position to afford any instruction, but your presentation of the single plane swing is simple enough for me to comprehend and is resulting in improved ball striking. I get lot's of unsolicited advice because the set-up is not 'traditional' but I'm sticking with the Moe method.
Wow - I love this POV video. I have watched every video released once or twice or even more…. And I keep getting great information that is presented in a way that even I can understand! Keep up the outstanding work!
I have been working on single plane for about a year and I have never hit the ball better and more consistent. It is a process to "unlearn" the old habits", but the new routine is the path to playing better.
Thanks for making a simple golf swing of MOE Norman into the latest money spinner complicated golf swing of the 21 Century. Moses golf swing is not this complicated and could be explained in less than five minutes, and uncomplicated.
Not sure how missed this one but looks like you are discussing all my faults especially starting swing w arms vs torso; thanks for awesome video!!!! (Do u have a best drill to start transition with lower body then torso vs just overtop arms?)
Excellent. I have the foot board and go back to it for the positions. first class stuff. sport is two games. the one on the scoreboard or score card and the one in the brain. Getting so solid and subliminal with the golf swing freed me up to play the game confidently. Another first class video. thanks for all you do. all the best
Do the arms twist though? It seems that the only way to get that trail arm to not cast the club is to let the back of the hand point slightly more to the ground during the transition
You can go with a half to 3/4 back swing and maintain yardage with more accuracy. Finau, Rahm, Kucher, showing that it works. Moe was definitely a pioneer of an abbreviated backswing.
Great explanation about the transition from the top of the backswing to the first stage of the downswing: my arms are moving - but I'm not moving my arms. Great explanation to quiet the moving parts in the downswing (i.e., writs, hands, sholders) and to have the big muscles initiating the downswing (hopefully) into the slot. Great imagery to think about and master. Thank you!
ToddGraves, do you know what Moe's Angle-of-attack with the driver? Going off his closed stance I would imagine it is very much in the positive. Thanks P.S. And what is yours?
Would a good feeling be keeping the left/lead arm connected to the chest during the swing until releasing the club at or after impact and forgetting about the elbow? Yesterday was my first round of the season and I had one of my best driving rounds in a long time using that swing thought.
2 Questions. 1). Concerning the trail right hand. I am right-hand dominant and I tend to rotate my trail hand at and through impact which is causing the clubface to be closed to my inside-out swing path. Is there a drill can I do to train my trail right hand to remain more cupped through impact? 2). Should I feel as though my upper body and the lead left shoulder is pulling me through the shot or my trail right shoulder pushing through impact?
Hi Bill, if not mistaken you are a Single Plane Academy member, which means you have the benefit of sending your swing questions directly to our coaches. Please reach out to Brock Elmore or any of your online coaches to receive the best feedback for your questions (refer to the weekly member email if needed) We will also save your questions to possibly include in a future live Q&A session. Thanks and don’t forget you can access this entire POV video training by logging into watch.gravesgolf.com or the Graves Golf On-Demand app

Very true. I also signed up and made advances through the coaching program (video submission and critiques) that I would not have been able to do on my own. A wise and fruitful expenditure.
Don’t overcomplicate it Todd. You’re losing, by minutia of instruction that which is the elegant simplicity Moe’s beautiful swing. Get your students to swing as closely as they can to Moe’s single plane swing and correct them on the ground. That’s the best way to do it. Probably the only way. The rest is just advertising.
It takes time and effort but the results are more than satisfying. The last piece of the puzzle for me is the trail arm extension after impact. I tend to be a bit early which reduces compression and distance. A work in progress but every assistance from the GGA helps. :)

Ditto!
Not as slow as me.
Please do not base your swing on moe. He was not a golfer.
Love this Todd! Was struggling with the elbow and the turn. This was very eye opening! Thank you Todd!
Cool app. I’m downloading right now. Thanks for the content
What a Godsend Moe Norman an Todd Graves were! Golf is fun for me know!!!

Todd this is the video that done it for me it’s the best explanation for me and my ball striking is pure Thankyou
Enjoying the videos and doing my best. Finding a fair few thin shots😢😊😊😊
Great instruction Todd. Cleared up a lot for me in the backswing.
Are you thinking about the swing bottom point (ahead of ball for irons and behind the ball with driver) as your hands slide down the plane?

Hi, Todd. I've noticed in your videos that you seem to set the clubhead towards the heel in the setup. Is this correct?
You can go with a half to 3/4 back swing and maintain yardage with more accuracy. Finau, Rahm, Kucher, showing that it works. Moe was definitely a pioneer of an abbreviated backswing.
What starts the rotation after the stabilization of the front knee? Must be the hips?

Nicely explained! ⛳

Me gustaría ver esa versión de la app en español, donde encuentro material de su escuela en español?
leading up to minute 7:00 there is the “ loading the shoulder and turning the arm down “ of Peter Cowen’s teachings.
Would a good feeling be keeping the left/lead arm connected to the chest during the swing until releasing the club at or after impact and forgetting about the elbow? Yesterday was my first round of the season and I had one of my best driving rounds in a long time using that swing thought.
I sent in the online application for coach certification a week ago , but haven’t heard anything back. Are you still doing it?
I struggle so much to get that cupping of the left hand gone.
I struggled with this as well but after joining the gold program not anymore

It seems the stack and tilt swing with a single plane address. Moe played with hogan and maybe just simplified it a bit more.
I got the app but most of it is locked how do I on lock them.?

I heard Mo say he pulls hard with his left hand?? Did i hear correect?
If you want to improve your game get the gold membership. I recently did it and I have improved already on what I already had learned.

Oh man, that's where that power comes from. This is gonna take some time to adjust to.
I focused on your right elbow. I don’t think mine stays that close to my body. Well back to the net.
Just doesn't look like your reaching a little bit on downswing and impact..I know it changes with club length but

Just think straight back straight through, nothing else to think about
If moe's swing was so simple...why do you have hundreds of videos about him?
Physics and the design of the club will want to go out to the ball.....don't help it.....hands go straight down.
Todd if u start the downswing with the body r u coming over the top or to avoid coming over the top u start the downswing with the arms? Thanks
