I have a Kindle Scribe (1st gen), Kindle PW SE and a Kobo Libra 2. I love all my e-readers, and tend to most of my e-reader reading on the Kindle SE...it's set up on an arm above my bed so that I can read hands-free whilst laying down. I also enjoy physical books of course.
I am returning the Scribe before my expiration date. I used it for 30 days and decided 450.00 and I have Kobo, New Paperwhite and iPad mini was over consumption. I want to do better ❤
I have a Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen that I bought in 2022, and I don't really feel the need for anything else. I have thought about a Kobo, just because I don't love being so tied to Amazon, but it's just so easy to get library books on the Kindle (since I live in the US). I have a lot of physical books, and I love to also have the book I'm reading on my Kindle so I can switch back and forth. It's just so handy, and I was also super reluctant to get an ereader! I do wish I could highlight in color, but not enough to pick up a second one yet - but never say never!
I've had pretty much every Kindle that's been released - bar the Paperwhite Signature. I've got the Oasis (but the Signature is close enough - bar the page-turn buttons). When I got the Scribe, I thought it would remain a 'home' device once the novelty wore off - but after two years, I still take it everywhere with me. I just love having the notebook and reading options contained in one device. I've got a cover with a kickstand, so don't find it unwieldy. I did get the Kobo Libra Colour a few months ago but wasn't impressed. I am, admittedly, quite wedded to the Kindle ecosystem; I have hundreds of novels and thousands of samples, but I was willing to flip to Kobo for the colour e-reader + notebook experience. The unit itself felt very cheap and plastic-y though, and a side-by-side comparison of the Kobo against the Oasis showed that the fonts on the Kobo just aren't as punchy as Kindle fonts. As for the note-taking experience, I wasn't impressed. The pen was nowhere close to the realistic writing experience of the Scribe, and I found taking notes on such a small screen frustrating. So the Kobo went back. For me, the e-reader utopia will be when Amazon releases a colour Kindle with note-taking capabilities; preferably in both Scribe-size and regular size.
I am also a 3 E-Reader person. Kindle Signature edition 11th gen, Kobo Libra Colour, and a 1st gen Kindle Scribe. My Kindle goes in my purse and my Libra is mostly at home but sometimes it goes with me. The Scribe lives at home. I love my Kindle and my Kobo equally but I just wanted to get out of the Amazon ecosystem just in case. Or at least expand my options. Hence, the Kobo.
So, i have all three and the new scribe. I lived my cobo at first but I can’t seem to get the text as dark as i like. I also do not like how it refreshes compared to thr quickness of the New Kindle Paperwhite. My IPAD mini has been my go too lately
Fun review!! My biggest e-book addiction is for cookbooks...but I just read them on my laptop or desktop! Mostly I'm using them while I'm cooking, so I'll just prop my laptop at my counter. Sometimes I read them like I would any other book, from cover to cover, but I'll do that on my computer too.
Thanks for this review. I was a Nook person for a long time. Nook had access to library books long before Kindle. Barnes and Noble doesn't really seem to support Nook as much as they used to. I still have a Nook and I like it because of the page turn buttons on both sides, but it is on the heavier side and with arthritis in my hands, it bothers me some. I just ordered the Kindle Colorsoft just because I had the urge for color. I think a pop socket might need to be in my future. I have never owned a Kobo. I am not really one to annotate much.
Can you get those handle things for the Scribe, or a big tablet? I could use something to make holding them in one hand, without dropping it easier, or RSI.
I have a PW11 which I got when I traded in my Kindle Oasis first gen. I loved the page turn buttons. I briefly had a PW SE 12, but it had a battery issue so I sent it back. I will probably get another one when it goes on sale. I primarily read library ebooks. It is not a problem for me to borrow from my library with the Libby app, only takes a few seconds to borrow the book. I am currently reading he Note by Alafair Burke
I love love love kindle. Had a nook before didn’t like it. But recently traded in my kindle paper white signature edition 11th edition for the kindle colorsoft and I thought I would hate it but I wanted to use it for my primary reader for magazines and news and I love it.
Great chatty feedback. I am using the kindle colorsoft at home and the basic when I'm out and about. I mainly read audio books with a few library books sprinkled in!
I have been devouring your content recently. ❤ I am torn between the Kobo Clara BW (I don’t need color) and a kindle as my first e-reader ( not sure if i would go basic or paperwhite for the warm light) I mainly use Libby on my iPad to read as i have an amazon account so I have some books on the kindle app…but im not married to it. I guess i would just need to put in some work converting what i have to be readable on a Kobo. And while that doesn’t really appeal to me I hate the advertising that Amazon does, it’s just so in my face when I want to read what I already have. I also have some PDF documents/books that i like to read and I don’t know which device would be the best most practical. Which is easier to import other documents to? I keep getting distracted on my iPad and phone soooo any leaning or suggestion would be SOOO helpful!
Totally a Kobo person. I love my Kobo Libra Colour. That being said with being a Canadian, you can only access the public library with a Kobo, so it was a no brainer.
I was seriously flip-flopping on buying a Kobo Libra Colour. After watching a gazillion RUclips videos, I finally ordered one a few minutes ago. It’s not so much the color screen, but the Oasis-like buttons that appeal to me. I didn’t even consider the Kindle Colorsoft because of the lack of buttons and the product launch debacle. I currently have three Kindles: an Oasis, a Scribe and a Basic Matcha. I love all three and use them every day. You’re so right about the PopSocket-I have a MagSafe one on the Basic and it’s ergonomic perfection.
I love my big Boox but I think it’s a shame that it doesn’t have buttons. But my Kindle Oasis has and it’s ideal for taking with you and reading in bed. The kindle also has this word wies feature that you can turn on to explane words. I haven’t tried it yet but it could be ideal for when I want to learn another language.
I have a scribe, paperwhite 12(metallic jade), kobo libra colour and a meebook. I love my meebook because I wanted something because I also enjoy using nook but I feel their ereaders are too small and my meebook is the size of last gen paperwhite(6.8 inches). However I gravitate between all 3 normally since I try to use all my devices regularly or what’s the point in having them.
@ the brand is called meebook. It’s android based but I only put reading apps on mine. I don’t do Facebook or social media on it just reading. Plus it has buttons so big plus.
@@M-J I love my original kindle scribe and it serves me very well at home. I also own the new basic kindle as a backup and own a kobo Libra color ( most probably due to the fact that it has page turn buttons..ha! and own some audio books from them). Yes, totally agree, I am more of a kindle reader, but would be skeptical of buying a kindle scribe color because the extra layering might produce a grey tint and create the screen not being as vivid and clear but darker. I use a pillow tablet stand for my kindle scribe which is a wonderful accessory. I enjoy your channel !! Mizpah.
So many books and so little time! Happy reading to you. Best wishes!

Nice to see you’re enjoying them all. I’m increasingly a Boox person rather than kindle or kobo
Well, free products can help do that. Just sayin’ 😂 You know I love your tech reviews buddy. 🤗

YEP! If it fits an iPad, it fits the Scribe! You don’t have to hold it at all. Get a little remote page turner and you are living in reading luxury!

I am so glad you love the ColorSoft! Now, if the Scribe went color that maybe something I’d think about.
Great chatty feedback. I am using the kindle colorsoft at home and the basic when I'm out and about. I mainly read audio books with a few library books sprinkled in!
I love audiobooks too!
Just bought a 12th gen paperwhite, have an original scribe and a Kobo libra Color

Right! I’ve heard that! Happy reading!
Did you get the new update for the kindle scribe that allows you to write directly on the page now, it’s fun to doodle on it 😂
No, a friend told be about it so I’m going to test it out and see where it lands!

Right! There is something about a pop socket that makes it easier to read on the device. ☺️

Thanks so much for sharing! I don't know if I've seen the meebook - is that the Big Me brand? (There are so many different android devices out here!)
@ the brand is called meebook. It’s android based but I only put reading apps on mine. I don’t do Facebook or social media on it just reading. Plus it has buttons so big plus.
Nice, thanks! I'll have to checkin with my friends that have Android environment e-readers. Buttons are a huge plus! 😊
@ yes! I love it. I also have one of those page turn remotes for my kindle but with big books I’ll pull it out so I can get through it faster.
I still use my Scribe for most home based reading. The Colorsoft is OK but I don’t really need the color screen.
I'm going to follow your advice and get back into the Scribe to see if I've been missing out.

Mizpah.
I was gifted a kindle fire years ago but 2 years ago I got a paperwhite and it works great for me. I am the Lake of lost Girls
The Kindle Paperwhite is amazing! Oooh, that book title sounds good.
Glad you've figured out what works for you. And keep running from that Android. 😁
Amen to that!
