I think you missed something about why Natlan people won't go outside their nation. This is actually revealed by Mavuika herself at the end of Act II; since the leylines of Natlan are weaker, the Night Kingdom acts as a substitute for them. The Wayob protects everyone within the nation as such; leaving means they would suffer memory loss and emotional issues. The Wayob are strict when it comes to people leaving the nation because that would mean extending their power beyond the borders, which should have been expended to fighting the abyss.
Interesting. I wonder though? How is it that a few playable characters that we get from Natlan are able to leave? Do they suffer? I'm hoping hoyo can clarify this! The idea of Kichina going brain dead while doing dailies with me in Inazuma scares me!
I think the point about kinich bringing citlali inazuman papers was misinterpreted a little. Those inazuman papers are actually light novels and citlali just gaslights kinich into thinking theyre for work because she's a closet weeb lol. It only makes sense after you read mualani's character story 4 where she bribes citlali with early access to light novels lol
tbf it was pretty evident even without mualani's character story. like, who orders blank paper from a faraway nation known and praised by everyone for it's novels lol? and during sumeru whenever books or writers from inazuma were brought up it was all about light novels as far as I remember
Klement, I said this before and I'll say it again: you're criminally underrated as hell; you clearly deserve more recognition, and I hope that someday I'll finally see you in that state. Great content as always! Keep up the great work!
I love that besides the polynesean/hawaiian inspirations from The People of Springs there are a third major inspiration: Brazil. The bossa nova, one of the Obsidian's NPC named Caramuru (named by the first Portuguese to meet the Tupinambás - a major indigenous brazilian tribe). As for Anchieta (named by the Catholic Jesuit Priest "Padre Anchieta" that founded the first schools in Brazil) Ipora ( Good Water in Tupi-Guarany language) and others. It hits me hard when I find Anchieta selling goods there, I, myself studied in a school named by him.
What I really really want to know is: What is the meaning behind the spirals being a prominent symbol throughout Natlan, especially when related to dragons/saurians? I just finished Kinich's quest yesterday and the part where we light the flames was also a spiral, and even the G symbol on the scions of the canopy are technically spirals. Then there's the various markings on the saurians, the land formations, the dragon script etc. It's Uzumaki all over again here. Also lastly what interests me is that Natlan is basically mimicking how the archon and vision system was created with the light element refracted into 7 elements. The Wayob (archons) granting ancient names (visions) to the people, and the pyro element being "refracted" into 6 tribes with their own unique draconic trait.
Just a quick correction... Creole isn't limited to just Louisiana. Creole people are based around all over the world, many in the Caribbean, but also many in the Pacific, around Africa, and so on.
Those are actually different types of Creole! Creole just refers to a language that forms when one language is really thoroughly mixed or affected by one or more other languages. Haitian Creole, for example, is based on French with influence from Yoruba and various other African languages. When people talk about Creole people or cuisine in the US, they're usually talking about people from the mixed culture that grew up in Louisiana from the mixture of Cajun French, African-American, Anglo and Latin American people and cultures. That cultural group is only related to other Creole groups around the world insofar as they may have shared elements in their Creole mixture, but they are different cultures :)
For the Masters of the night wind (Mictlan) tribe. Aztec (Nahua/mexico) is the main base for the tribe as seen by the npc names. For the Flower feather clan I am not too sure but hopefully someone can answer that in the comments. I do appreciate Mexico being everywhere in Natlan through the language of Nahualt an indigenous language of the Nahuas in Mexico which can be found in every tribe. Food, weapons, ancient archictecture, characters who have Mayan/Aztec influence in other tribes like Kinich, Xilonen but I'm sad they seperated Citlali and Xilonen as they are both Aztec/Nahua girlies lol. But yes, My lindo Mexico is in every tribe and throughout Natlan is just beautiful to see but can't wait for Mictlan because that's my people lol.
Indigenous Mesoamerica and Sub Saharan African are the main influences for all tribes. Based on the music and NPCS names. There’s African (even North and East African) names in all tribes. I hate people undermine African influence bc of racism
@@WackyChu Well you can make your own comment because I was talking about my country and everything I said is true. Ancient Mexico specifically is behind the entire nations as a whole because of the name that derives from the word “Aztlan” homeland of the Aztecs. And the other things I spoke about and I don’t appreciate you forcing the words of “Racism” here.
form what i guess Nahuatl and Swahili are the two "nationalist" cultures since every tribe speaks swahili (and the music often uses swahili vocals) and the writing is Nahuatl and the two names are common in every tribe Feathers and Collative seem to be base on plan cultures
yo your explanation is so fun to watch! I really looking for more in the future! Fun production of yours! You need more recognition. Also, I'm a genshin player that don't care about lore, but bc of your video I'm so ashamed I never realized there are 3 more tribes to it! And its fun to learn their lore and characteristics! Here's to more!
I love that they chose all 6 other elements to represent the 6 tribes, but found a way to incorporate pyro into all of them in some way. I'm really impressed with Natlan so far
One thing I exited to see about the other 3 tribes its the saurians how they look and how they plays, people say saurian mechanics in natlan its the boring or slower version of the playable character which is true but what makes natlan unique is the biodiversity of the region and how the region itself inspired by many mish mashed culture irl hope natlan will be as big as sumeru but if not then atleast I hope its as big as sumeru dessert or liyue
Great video. I'm reminded of early criticisms about Natlan saying that's too many different cultures as inspiration and would result in an incoherent mishmash. It's nice to see that in reality, each tribe is like a nation unto itself, each with its own real-world inspiration, history, and heroes.
yeah its one of the reason why real life indigenous people rather than tribes ect be called Nations, empires, kingdoms ect since thats why they are and likits kinda silly since such a big part of Natlan national pride is being multi cultural
Not only Kachina was bullied during the Archon quest, she is also a middle child of her family😢 Also,Kinich gives off massive Anemo vibes, despite being Dendro
I was a bit confused bc Ifa and Chuychu are both in the medicinal field yet the masters of the might wind are all doctors? I kinda thought they’d be like spiritual, potion makers and stuff like that I thought that would’ve been a bit cooler than doctors. But to fit the theme of Natlan I guess their settlement aesthetic will look like a neo-rave feel.
Mavuika states at the end of the Archon quest when you talk to her at Kachina's party, that Natlanders are tied to the Wayob and the Night Kingdom since they don't have leylines. So any Natlander who ventures outside the region for too long starts loosing their memories and personality. That's probably what happened to Vanessa's tribe, they left and completely forgot about their homeland, disconnected from the Wayob and aimlessly wandering Teyvat. So when Venti asks for stories from Vanessa about their people, Vanessa has none to give. They're a displaced tribe far from home. :(
Could you make a Video about Khaenri'ah next? I think there is a lot to talk about. love your Videos! They are made with so much love its like watching a historical movie! Sending Lots of love🫶
Idk. While I do agree clearly that the Children of Echoes takes inspirations from Mayan cultures, the People of the Springs Polynesians, and the Scions of the Canopy the Quechuans (specifically the Incas), I see the Masters of the Night-Wind being inspired by Aztec culture, the Flower-Feather Clan the Native Americans, and the Collective of Plenty being Africa and Aboriginal Australia
Thank you for this explanation. I wish the skin tones of the Natlan natives matched where hoyo got their inspo from. All the upbeat latino and tribal music along with the look of Natlan itself looks really weird with all the pale folk there. It doesn't all pull together like it did for other nations
I mean if u see at the npc there are varied skin tones only the playable ones arent cuz y know many reasons main thing is the playable character are a "product to sell" and they must think and probably have a data about that having a lighter skin tones appeal more to their main player base more than darker skin tone or even varied ones sad genshin always play save if genshin like zzz sigewinne could be a real melusine or atleast melusine skin tone look like (sry for bad grammar)
Love the fact that Natlan is definitely heavily inspired by the Americas. Natlan Tribes basically act as Peacekeepers similar to the US. And the tribes we have so far have major American/US cultural inspiration like graffiti and breakdancing from New York, and Surfing from Polynesia.
do u have any theories regarding Diluc? since he's so similar to Vennessa and Mavuika I feel he might be connected to Natlan, specially since his Elemental burst is a Phoenix...
