Could not have put it better myself mate! Brilliant video in the best style + delivery! Flying in MSFS is so close to IRL flying but not everyone has the opportunity to actually fly a real warbird! I fly in DCS but not always for 'shooty'. The DCS mk9 is by far the most realistic representation other than the A2A in a sim. The Flyingiron Spitfire amongst their other aircraft are in my opinion the best way to enjoy MSFS - to challenge ourselves with these brilliant, complex & beautiful representations of piston powered, steam gauged, historical aircraft in highly accurate and realistic scenery.

If you (Or anyone reading) is interested, the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum at Manston, has a Full sized Replica Lancaster cockpit that they've made into a simulator. It's only got a basic screen currently as they don't have a huge budget at a museum but it's the closest you can get to flying a Lancaster that's not the real thing currently. I had a go last year and loved it. They've also got a similar Spitfire simulator.

I fly the Aeroplane Heaven Spitfire Mk 1.
There is a fix for the rudder flipping to centre.
Put both brakes on a spare Quadrant axis. As long as there is a touch of brakes, OFF RELEASED, the rudder works fine.
IMHO, the Aerplane Heaven MkI is a better flyer than the FlyingIron Mk IX.
Flight Replicas MkI flies OK, but they use the 'ASOBO P51 Reno' sound file. There is none of the lovely Merlin crackle at idle and low power.
The FlyingIron I have has an Aileron Trim error, where it is trimmed Starboard at startup.
The other nice Aeroplane for aerobatics is the IRIS Beechcraft Texan II. RAF training plane before the BAE Systems Hawk.
I have the Navigraph Tablet moving map.
As for Comms, there are the Yaesu handhelds. The ATC screen is on my right and I do click-to-tune, simulating pre-sets on the handheld.

Warbirds are fantastic or I should say WW2 fighters are amazing. The engine management alone in an accurately simulated ww2 fighter is amazing. Likewise the ground handling is only accurate in DCS with none of the correct braking systems in use in MSFS. Tuppacks challenge of flying a real Spitfire or mosquito was the British brake system and it’s very different techniques required to use it. The dumbed down warbirds with basic ground handling and bullet proof engines needing almost no management to me make DCS the only option. In fact I rarely fly combat in them in DCS the challenges of getting a P-47 or Mosquito just into the air is a challenge. All the poor things about msfs come to the fore inaccurate taxiing and ground handling lack of engine management etc all make msfs a big no go for aircraft that require so much finesse and technique.
If your missing all of the features of the real aircraft for me I see no point.
I fly real aeroplanes and do not enjoy dumbed down versions when we have high fidelity models that accurately handle and need real world operating techniques. Not everyone needs that but that’s why we have DCS for those who want to experience reality in a multiplayer environment. BTW these aircraft where designed to be a weapon first no shooty shooty really makes them feel rather bland compared to firing a full salvo from a Mosquito. I recommend you try one of the DCS aircraft on a try before you buy it the free Mustang which comes with DCS for free. If you want a true warbird experience it’s very cheap ie free and considerably more challenging than what msfs provides. Enjoyed your video lovely Duxford scenery. Highly recommend taking the dCS Sputfire into the wW2 Normandy map and land at a forward airfield it’s about a thousand times more challenging than what msfs provides. Keep the good videos coming..

@@Scarebus_Driver I think you probably got bored and didn’t watch the whole video and missed a few things 😀. I do actually have DCS so understand what you are talking about. This video isn’t meant to be a why fly one instead of the other. It is ‘why do people fly warbirds in MSFS?’ Also I made the point in the video that, certainly this Spit anyway, uses differential braking to steer on the ground and also has some engine management built in. The other advantage of MSFS is that you can fly as a modern restoration warbird anywhere in the world, which was another reason I was giving. There are a lot of MSFS aircraft I don’t fly because they are unrealistic, but if this FI Spit in MSFS is good enough for the RAF BBMF then it’s good enough for me 😀

@@rcpilot9963 i don’t fly the stock P-51 in MSFS as it isn’t great. This isn’t meant to be a comparison between why you should fly one or the other, it is simply why do people fly warbirds in MSFS. If the flyingiron Spit is good enough for the RAF BBMF to use then it’s good enough for me 👍🏻

Why not fly the spitfire in DCS? the flight model is a million times better in that sim.

@@tim-3705 yes not saying that isn’t an option, just answering the question about flying them in MSFS when there isn’t anything to shoot at. This isn’t a ‘you should do this instead of that’ kind of video.

No it is not that much better in DCS. I have both, and prefer the MSFS version. And the scenery is WAY better here.

@ oh not at all, I’ve just never really gotten into DCS ( there is one vid on the channel lol ) but I know it’s my loss. Just not really into combat sims.

@@Nor0252 I have both too, your preference is up to you. The flight model tho, is objectively more accurate in dcs. And to my opinion, Many aircraft except for a handfull, feel floaty and unrealistic. Especially msfs 2025. And about the senery, i always play in vr. Msfs on medium to low looks worse then DCS cause the performance is just not there. but eventually it is what you enjoy more. :)

Nah, still don't get it MSFS flight models are pretty lame and half the fun is pushing a plane to the limit - the on/off failure mode of MSFS is one of its biggest weaknesses and diminishes the experience compared to a flight sim with actual failure modes
