People crap in Javonte Williams' running this year, and while I agree, he was fantastic in blocking. It seems like every play, there he was, saving Bo's arse.
It’s sad, Williams is a great football player still but he hasn’t looked as explosive since the knee injurie. I hope I’m wrong and it’s more of a coaching problem. Maybe he needs to just attack the hole more instead of trying to bounce around and wait. Just be a classic bruiser.
@@TonySop I was responding to the original comment. But I dont think its much of a coaching problem really just think its the fact he is facing 8 in the box on 55% of his runs. Defenses are trying to stop the run and force a rookie QB to pass the ball. Unfortunately for the Bucs he did not look like a rookie passing the ball so they had to adjust the defense to apply more coverage which is why you saw the run game open up later into the game.

For me, Bo Nix goes to prove that experience in college matters. He got to play five years in multiple systems and that is exactly the reason I wanted the Panthers to trade back in 2023. Trade down, draft your core, develop for a year, and you’d likely be in a position to have taken a guy like Nix, Penix, Daniels, etc, in 2024. But, I’m not a GM.
Do you remember Drew Locke’s game against the Texans? It was even better than this game. One good game means nothing. We have Mahomes and Herbert in our division. We don’t just need a starter, we need Bo to be a top 10 QB if we actually want to be competitive. I just don’t see Bo being able to be a top 10 QB. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see it. I wanted the Broncos to get Penix Jr.
@@jsilva7005Drew Locke couldn’t beat out Teddy Bridgewater in training camp. Bo Nix was named a team captain in training camp. Why can’t he be a top 10 qb if he plays like he did against the Bucs? Agreed. But as a Bronco fan I still feel a sense of urgency with Bo because he's a bit older than some of the others. He needs to be ready a little faster. Seems like he's on the right track though, honestly.
Need to do a breakdown of Andy Dalton as well so we can see what he was doing versus what Bryce was doing. My inclination is to say that Bryce is just that far off. He should have been a developmental 3rd round pick. People act like he isn’t the same guy as he was at Alabama, but he is, and that’s the problem. He wasn’t a pocket passer in college. He was a one read and scramble passer and that translates poorly to immediate playing time in the NFL.
Bryce was high on the list because he was a multiple read guy in college. The passes he has made this year you can see he is giving up letting a play develop and trying to get things going. His size prevented him from scrambling and getting hurt in college. Dalton is bigger and able to read/feel pressure better
@@candlercando Nearly everything you said is wrong. He scrambled, a lot, in college. He was not a pocket passer at Alabama, he was not a multiple read guy from the pocket, and he certainly did well until matched up with athletically similar opponents that negated the advantage his offensive line and receivers typically gave. He is like Tua, he will require all franchise resources to be devoted to the offense just to make it functional. That is opposed to Kansas City and Buffalo who have QB’s who can carry young guys so that they can invest on the defensive side of the ball.
